Five Ways To Silence Biafra Agitations by afonjaman: 1:39am On Jul 21, 2017
The agitation for the state of Biafra has reached a boiling point, with hate mongering and threats of war from various groups in the country, its time to speak up and address the status quo.Just before i highlight the ways to silence Biafra, one fact should be made clear to all relevant groups heating up the polity. No ethnicity is more important than the other in Nigeria. In a country that boasts of over 250 ethnic groups ,or as i like to say Nationalities, we are better described as UNITED NATIONS OF NIGERIA.

Irrespective of your stereotype or prejudice against the Igbo Nation, they are one of the most enterprising and innovative people in Nigeria.

However unverified statistics also shows that Igbos are the most travelled Ethnic group in Nigeria, You will literally find them anywhere and everywhere. They have built vast business Empires in various states of the country. They have formed semi-colonies in different corners outside the proposed Biafra. They have taken commerce, industrialization and Business economics to a new level even in the midst of Scarcity.

Would you say such a people want their own country or just a place where there is prosperity?

With all these beautiful attributes of the 34 million Ndigbo, can we take away the Scholarly, Innovative, modern and hospitable tendencies of 40 million Yorubas ? Or can we deny the rich Agricultural, Artistic, cultural ubiquity of the combined 31 million Hausa/Fulani?

What about the colourful culture of Efik people or the Rich farm lands of Tiv/Idoma people?

Can we ignore the deep cultural roots of benin or the social organisation of Nupe people?

So the truth is we need them so much but just as much as they us!

I must say at this point that i am not against the right of People for self determination but we cannot ignore the echoes of history, which should be a lesson to all.

Here are the questions we must answer:

Can we survive another civil war?

Will disintegration solve our many problems?

Does the 1999 constitution permit the current agitations by IPOB and MASSOB?

What does the Igbo Nation really want?

What lessons have we learnt from the last civil war?

Why were there no agitations during Goodluck Jonathan’ s Presidency?

Every reader will provide different answers to the above questions but one thing is clear- WE NEED A COUNTRY WHERE OUR INTERESTS ARE EQUALLY REPRESENTED.

If we want this agitations that threatens our unity and freedom to go, we need all these and more:
1.RESOURCE CONTROL-This is a component of True federalism, where every state explores and manages its own resources and contributes a quota to the central government. The whole country has depended on the “liquid gold” from the south-east and south-south for decades but there is little or no prove that these states are the sources of the nation’s wealth(a consequence of poor national and local leadership).Resource control gives the Igbo nation the freedom they really want. This will help other states of the country to look inward for lifelines.

Why silence what's constitutional and allow what isn't?

So Mr. Biafran, Hausa/Fulani are 31 million, Igbo 34 million and Yoruba 40 million?

OP, you just nailed it. The FG should stop marginalizing igbos and run inclusive govt. Among the five key points discussed, I prefer restructuring that involves resource control, true federalism, devolution of power, etc. The FG should ignore Roaches Okoroacha and Uma David of Ebonyi state. These are lazy governors that want to depend on monthly allocation without brainstorming initiative to explore the potentials of their states. They always kick against Biafra, Restructuring, Resource control etc. They don't speak the minds of majority Igbos. As for me and many others, all we want for is restructuring that will reduce the influence of federal, give states the right to maximize their resources. Oh my God! I can't imagine the level of competition among states which will trigger economic growth and development. Lalasticalala, Mynd44, this is front page worthy.

I'm also for restructuring, and I hear alot of our people talk of restructuring the country. My question though, what if the Northerner don't agree to the terms of the restructuring what do we do next. Nigeria is like a time bomb waiting to explode any minute.

The truth is that, if the energy our people have dissipated in this agitation have been channelled to clamour for restructuring, believe me, by now we must have currried the interest of majority of Nigerians made up of Yoruba, entire Niger Delta will support it, Middle belt leaving Hausa fulanis with no other option than to comply. Our people don't want to reason and weigh many options. They are too carried away with Biafra fantasies. We stand to gain a lot in restructuring. Our closeness to south south states is a major advantage; Take for instance, the major patronizers of ariaria market and other big markets in aba are south south states. South south states will open more functional seaports for our importation. South south states will collaborate with south eastern states for technology transfer, idea sharing, supplies of our local products, training, and opening up of branches in south south states. We stand to gain a lot without any attack or loosing our investments in other states. If after about 20yrs of restructuring, we did not made the expected progress, we can equally weigh the option of self Independence. The truth is that restructuring which will usher in self reliance is a major step to even actualizing Biafra.

The way people are shouting 'restructuring', what if Nigeria is restructured but not to their taste, what happens?

Some are shouting 'implement the report of the national conference' organized by Goodluck Jonathan, how many of us knows exactly the contents of that report? Many think everything in that report is so palatable.

Let's learn to look before we leap o!

The best way to silence the biafra agitations is to kill Nnamdi Kanu. I urge the federal government to take him out and jail his wife and kid. That way the stupid IPOB terrorist group will be a thing of the past sad
Re: Five Ways To Silence Biafra Agitations by PDJT: 7:37am On Jul 21, 2017
-Typical "Nigerian". Igbos overwhelmingly say they want the restoration of Biafra and you keep asking: "What does Igbos really want?" That is evidence of denial of truth or outcome as it's not really what you desire or want for them (Igbos), Buhari asked the same question. How much condescending can you Nigerians get?

-And you asked, why wasn't an agitation for Biafra during GEJ time? Are you for real? Have you had a look when MASSOB was formed? Have you heard of how over 40 bodies of MASSOB members were found floating in Ezu River, near Awka, following their illegal arrests, detention and subsequent killings in 2013 by Nigerian police? Have you had a look when Radio Biafra was established in UK?

-Just take a look at your Nigerian coat of arms: No Justice, No Freedom or Liberty, just a delusional mention of "Unity" and other trash. No wonder many Nigerians have no clue what Freedom or Liberty mean. Hence, I don't blame you for believing a call for Referendum is a call for War.

Can we survive another civil war?

Wrong question. We should be asking why we even need to fight at all? We didnt even need to fight the first time. Nigeria is but a colonial creation so why are we fighting each other over the creation of the white man when there is referendum? The answer is that some people want to enslave others.

Will disintegration solve our many problems?

Unity has not solved our problems so why not give disintegration a try? It worked for Czechoslovakia and USSR

Does the 1999 constitution permit the current agitations by IPOB and MASSOB?

Yes it does. Chapter 4 of the constitution allows freedom of movement, expression, speech and belief

What does the Igbo Nation really want?

Igbos want the return of their sovereignty that was officially stolen in 1914 in other to create Nigeria

What lessons have we learnt from the last civil war?

That Nigeria is a disasterous colonial experiment that can never work

Why were there no agitations during Goodluck Jonathan’ s Presidency?

There were agitations during Jonathans Presidency and even further back during Obasunjos tenure. MASSOB was fully on the ground.

[Every reader will provide different answers to the above questions but one thing is clear- WE NEED A COUNTRY WHERE OUR INTERESTS ARE EQUALLY REPRESENTED

Of course we do, but that country is not Nigeria.

If we want this agitations that threatens our unity and freedom to go, we need all these and more:
1.RESOURCE CONTROL-

2.RESTRUCTURING-

3.CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT-

4.IGBO PRESIDENCY-

5.NATIONAL CONFERENCE-

All these points are 'Southern Nigeria Agenda'. The vast majority of the North does not want it. People dont seem to understand that a restructured Nigeria makes no sense to the North. A restructured Nigeria takes away the essence of why the core North is part of Nigeria, the political and economic domination of everyone through a unitary system. The North will never allow an inch of Nigeria to be restructured and anyone who thinks so is ignorant. The question I always ask those who are shouting restructuring is, 'If the North never allows restructuring what will you do?'

NIGERIA BELONGS TO ALL

WE CAN NOT SURVIVE ANOTHER CIVIL WAR

Nigeria belongs to a section of the country, it always has. If Nigeria belonged to us all, nobody would be begging for restructuring

Igbo's should go to hell right from independence you have always wanted to dominate Nigeria but you have able adversaries in both HausaFulani and Yoruba's.

Azikwe coming from the USA has no knowledge what parliamentary system of govt chose to be the prime minister not knowing it is all glamour and no power. When igbos discovered this folly, Azikwe was asked to take a vacation so the Igbo could orchestrate the first coup in Nigeria destroying the fledging democracy we just inherited. Destroying Confederation in it wake.

Immediately the Igbo devilish coup plotter struck what the PDP Niger Delta and insane ipob etc are fighting for today in resource control, separation of power, regional govt fiscal federalism etc were are destroyed and abolished by the Igbo's that is how Nigeria lost it's journey to being a great nation till date. The Igbo abolished confederation and introduce unitary system of govt so all the wealth from cocoa, groundnut, rubber etc could come to the the marauding Igbo's at the helm of their illegitimate govt.

But unknown to the Igbo the HausaFulani struck with the counter coup only to benefit from the Unitary govt the Igbo's replaced the abolished confederation for. That is why the NigerDelta never get to enjoy 100% of it resource because crude oil was yet to be discovered before the coup and its counter. The Igbo only compounded their own problem they wanted more of the resources that accrued to them and Nigeria as a whole from confedralism but lost virtually all to Unitary styled govt this was the reason why Igbo through Ojukwu chose to go to war so they can regain what they lost. They never anticipated discovery of crude oil with the then Eastern Igbo governor having 100% control of it, this is why Igbo are still out there with Ipob making noise today.

They planned to siphoned the meagre wealth of the other federating unit from tedious hard work farming to their red mud enclave but the HausaFulani struck only to use the policy the Igbo's brought to siphoned Igbo's wealth "crude oil" from it's region that was why they went to war. They were hoping to regain all they lost through Aburi accord as well. The vampire nature of Igbo to covet the wealth of Nigeria was the reason why they also supported Jonathan and is also the reason after they lost to Buhari they have started another agitation in Ipob.

For those not around during the civil war this was exactly how it played out with Igbo wanting to dominate power in Nigeria without careful well thought out plan but their adversaries always have something to checkmate their gimmick and once Igbo discover their act isn't working they would resolve to go to war without sense. I busy this morning so you people can continue to post lies like there is no historian in Nigeria beside Igbo and Ipob. Continue.
