Wale Ajisebutu Vice Chairman and CEO, 21st Century Technologies Limited (21CTL), is a man of few words. His company 21CTL started operations in 1999, and has become a leading telecommunications service provider offering a range of ICT services, voice and data connectivity options, as well as commercial data centre facilities.

The company recently teamed up with Avaya, a global leader in business communications software, systems and services to offer unified communications, IP solutions, and contact centre hybrid cloud solutions. A few years earlier, 21CTL had teamed up with British Telecoms (BT) to connect Nigerian companies to BT's new $20bn hitech 21 CN platform, which is a global Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) IP-based Virtual Private Network solution.

From the Lagos offices of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG) to the top banks in the country, and the largest manufacturing firms in the city, 21st Century has built a huge customer base, that makes its' competitors green with envy. Those clients include Chevron, British Airways, NIBSS, Schlumberger, Multichoice, Citibank etc. The reason is simple. Ajisebutu's firm owns the largest most extensive optical fibre cable metropolitan network in Nigeria, with speeds up to 10Gbps, high-speed Corporate Dedicated Internet Access and IRUs etc, in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja.

21st Century also offers commercial protection of off-site data, server hosting, indexing, records archiving, etc. in their state-of-the art facilities that meet strict measures of security, stability and fire prevention. It has a multi-million naira high security data centre, backed up to offer rapid disaster recovery services at various levels of security, with 24/7 protection and surveillance. http://www.21ctl.com/about-us

Ten years ago, Wale Ajisebutu dreamt of a data centre within Nigeria. At that time, he spoke about the data centre being a core infrastructure for supporting and ensuring seamless service delivery, especially as a basis for outsourcing, not many people were familiar with the critical nature of such an infrastructure. A few years after he launched it, the data centre became a phenomenon embraced by many.

Now, by continuing on that path of self-service for a digital Nigeria, with an even larger dream, Ajisebutu is silently fashioning out what may well turn out to be the most expansive, most comprehensive and biggest e-commerce platform for West Africa and ultimately for the entire Africa.

It will throw up benefits on end: from software incubation and development, to business-to-business, to e-commerce, to seamless payment platforms, to development of apps for any and every social activity, the goal seems to be: it is possible; why not make it here and now!

The company has lined up multiple infrastructure being deployed on 20,000 square metres in Lekki, another 14,000 square metres in Apapa, a similar one in Ikeja area and others. They will house data centres, training facilities, software incubation centres, medical record and research laboratories and call centres, among others. http://www.ittelecomdigest.com/wale-ajisebutu-dreams-africas-largest-e-commerce-hub1020-2/

You really nailed a lot of points on this post. There is nothing industrious about Igbos, and this thread has laid to rest all their chestbeating lies. If you ask a typical Igboman what he does, he will tell you he is into trade or into importing of cheap fake low quality goods from asia or junks from europe/america and exporting of Ugwu grin.
Ask what he means by trade, he will tell you selling of used clothes, selling of used electronics, selling of spare parts etc. It is only Igbos that refer to selling and buying as trade in the world, anywhere else in the world, trades are skilled profession like electrician, welding, landscaping, millwright, mechanic etc. Igbos are also the only people in the world that learn how to sell electronics, clothes, laptops, spare parts etc for up to 3 years because they are taught the lies, the gimmicks, the dubious acts during this period. Like seriously, how hard can it be that you have to learn how to sell clothes for 3 years under a boss if not that everything about the business is shady.
Like you rightly said, they are master of setting up 2X2 shops, and they terribly suck in operating the so called 2X2 shops. Go to Ladipo, or Alaba or Oshodi you see about 50 or more 2X2 shops side by side selling fvcking the same thing. No packaging, no ingenuity, no difference just pure stupidity and retardation. So if they don't dupe a naive customer, their business barely survive.

You nailed it.

What are you trying to achieve with that thread? You tend to create so many irrelevant threads all over the place draging yorubas into fights that doesn't concern them. If onitsha like let it belong to futa jalon how is that yoruba business?

True talk. I just tire bro. Threads like that give those street urchin the chance to insult Yorubas. You cant see me on a biafra thread unless they drag Yoruba to it, we should learn to ignore these people and focus on our thread.

Now, about the thread, I'm not really surprised at several observations

1. The number of companies owned by Yorubas, their influence and worth

2. Ibo's envious display - they simply hate Yorubas because Yorubas are more successful than they are.

3. Eledumare, my heavenly father, has indeed blessed the Yoruba nation.

Although, the thread is more about "products", but it wouldn't be a bad idea to let you guys know there are Yorubas holding it down in Med Tech

There is Lifebank owned by Temi Giwa, Mdaas owned by Oluwasogo Oni, Kangpe owned by Femi kuti, Redbank owned by
Tolu Adeyanju, Onemedical owned by Laolu Adeniyi, Wole Ralph, and Oladimeji Sofowora

These are all health startups trying to solve the challenges Nigeria is facing in the health sector via Technology. Bukky George is also not taking it slow with Healthplus pharmacies same with Joke Bakare of Medplus pharmacies. These 2 are the biggest retail pharmacy companies in Nigeria and not forgetting Adepeju Jaiyeoba of mother's delivery kit.

Yoruba sons and daughters are also holding it down in Fintech. From Paystack to Flutterwave, Amplify, Simplepay

ACE is doing really well in logistics sector with the likes of Delivery Science and Kobo360.

Even our shoemakers' dey kill am with crazy branding. Itele, Gransoles, YNorth, Keexs and the rest of them

Now, it's not like these guys are the first to do these things per se, but they're doing it the way it should be done. What they all have in common is branding. It's the Tech Age fam. And this is template all Yoruba sons and daughters looking to do business should be emulating

Gats polish and advance things. No dirty 2x2 shops all over the place selling Lopo shirts with the horse upside down and Tony Highflinger belts. That's too 3rd world. Igba wo ni a fe se yen di gba

That's why we need to hope these clowns get their potor paradise so we can minimise this madness and replace them with clean well-branded businesses like the ones that have been posted on this thread

Good one boss

In that role, he was responsible for managing internal and external activities to support the sale of natural gas produced by SPDC/SNEPCo to domestic and international markets (West African gas market and the NLNG).

In addition, he managed commercial agreements and internal systems to support handling, transportation and storage of crude oil for other oil producers operating within existing SPDC processing/evacuation facilities without means of evacuating their produced hydrocarbons.

Founder. CEO Printivo

Shomolu is one of the most prominent printing hubs in Lagos. Most houses around here have a printing operation going on in small kiosks that appear to have been tacked on as an afterthought.

The Printivo office is on the edge of all that, in a nondescript warehouse nestled between multiple-storeyed residential buildings. The glass door that opens up to the reception is frosted with ‘Printivo’. It is done in the startup’s signature colours; cyan, yellow, magenta and black.

It was a hazy Wednesday morning on the day I visited. I found myself outside the Printivo office leaning on one of the finishing desks in front of the building. The staff use the desks to execute the final stages of print jobs that require trimming, folding and sometimes binding. I had let myself into the reception, but stepped out to escape the heady smell of ink, paper and heated film.

“Sorry I kept you.” It was Oluyomi, in a striped shirt, dark straight cut slacks and muted black loafers. Oluyomi Ojo is one of Printivo’s founders and the CEO. He leaned in for a familiar handshake – we’ve met many times before. The last time was at TechCabal’s africaBeta back in October.

Two weeks before my visit, Printivo announced a six-figure seed round from EchoVC. The news made it to TechCrunch. Another Nigerian startup was asking the world to acknowledge it.

I stepped inside with Oluyomi and went past the reception into a larger space in which there were eight people sitting behind PCs in a large bullpen. To the left of me, there was another huddle of five people wearing pink tee shirts.

“We call them, ‘customer happiness’”, Oluyomi said of the pink tee group.

Ahead and to the left was a small glass compartment; the Printivo conference room. We stepped inside. There is a loud little machine which I am told is called a plotter, and it’s making quite the racket.

It is not everyday you find men venturing into fashion, especially in Nigeria, where it is largely considered a woman’s space. However, two men — Emotu Balogun and Segun Afolahan — have managed to successfully carve a niche for themselves with Traclist, a fashion eCommerce marketplace.

Generating revenue in excess of ₦80 million this year alone, the small company has grown from its humble beginnings, as part of the Co-Creation Hub‘s incubation programme, into arguably Nigeria’s biggest fashion eCommerce marketplace.

Segun and Emotu spent an afternoon chatting with Techpoint about their inspiration, challenges so far and aspirations .

You Yoruba guys are some of the most wicked souls the world has ever seen. I went over the Igbo thread and by the time I got to the 3rd page, I was practically crying my heart out just because of two reasons
1. Despite the extraterrestrial and otherworldly efforts you guys are putting here, you still spared time and effort to decimate them and crush them to smithereens on their thread
2. You so much dealt with them that their commander in chief, general and leading tactician resorted to posting pictures of table water, loaves of bread and orange juice when I'm very sure the production capacity of University of Ibadan Ventures dwarfs that of those companies in that aspect.
My main grouse with our lousy, uncouth, loud-mouthed and saucy neighbours across the Niger who happen to be first cousins to some exotic breeds of chimps is their vain-glorying. They think everybody hates them but I can assure them nobody hates them. Everyone just seems to be tired of their empty chest beating and unbridled insolence. Although it's not a thing done by all of them, but it's done by most of them especially those among them who grew up in the East. The way they go about shouting Yoruba are against Biafra is nauseating. I look around our region here and I see people who don't give a rat ass about Biafra. The only Yoruba I see that seem to be a bit concerned about Biafra are those on the internet and I'm very sure 90% of them are there to taunt them and not that they really care whether they get Biafra or not.
I've seen this insecure whimps suffering from an acute inferiority complex attack Fulani, Hausa, Yoruba, Edo, Uhrobo, Ikwerre, Tiv, Ijaw, Ibibio, Efik and a host of others here. They've made enemies of everybody. They have a siege mentality in which they think the whole world is against them. You all can continue wallowing in delusional grandeur but what I can assure you is this, an average Yoruba man on the street, an average Yoruba woman in the market is less concerned about whether you get Biafra or not. You are so inconsequential to their life and living thus you are dispensable. Don't use the conduct of a few Yoruba folks here to judge because I see you lot going about ranting like gorillas on heat with your obsession with Yorubas and how hey are holding you back. The folks you see here are doing all these to torment you psychologically, mentally and emotionally knowing how you are wired and the cry babies you can be. You are emotionally weak and gullible thus they use your weakness to torment you.
Yorubas like every other tribe have their own challenges which we acknowledge and will always work on, we are not perfect and will never pretend to be, like you lots do. But one thing is clear, as imperfect as we are, we are not your equals in any field of human development. No matter the indices, we are not on the same pedestal.
We are better by FAR
