Odunayo Adesokan

Founder/CEO LawStrive

Nigerian startup LawStrive has launched a platform that aims to make legal service accessible in a faster and cheaper way.

Launched in March, LawStrive provides a single platform where users can connect with lawyers almost instantly, get answers to questions, and get their jobs done.

The startup was formed after co-founders Odunayo Adesokan and Samuel Olabamiji realised the convoluted means by which most Nigerians went about obtaining the services of a lawyer.

“You would have to ask someone, and that person will ask another person and then they may finally get a phone number to call. This may take between two and three days, and we thought if we could make people talk to lawyers instantly, yeah, that would be nice. So, we started LawStrive,” Olabamiji told Disrupt Africa.

“We also observed that several people are not sure what the law says about certain situations and they would love to understand the facts, but they don’t have anyone to ask. Now they can.”

LawStrive has not received any form of funding as yet, but is open to investment.

“We have crossed the early adopter lines and we are hoping to growing rapidly, we now have lawyer from all the major business hubs in the country,” Olabamiji said.

“Startups and new companies that cannot afford to employ a lawyer internally are coming to us to get lawyers to assist them with registration and legal documents. Law firms are also reaching out to us for partnership. Right now, we have about 50 lawyers with varied areas of specialisation.”

LawStrive has so far served clients in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Oyo and Ekiti states, and plans to have lawyers working with it in every state.

“We also plan to expand to other some African countries, especially Ghana, Kenya and South Africa,” said Olabamiji.

TLcom Capital

Omobola Johnson announces TLcom Capital’s $40m seed fund for African tech startups

Given her impressive track record as the former Minister of Communication Technology, when news broke of Dr. Omobola Johnson’s appointment as the lead general partner for TLcom Capital’s Lagos arm, we were elated.

Founded in 1999, TLcom Capital has invested in targeted businesses that address technological issues in either large established global markets, or in the development of emerging markets with the potential for a global scale. The firm just raised a $40 million seed fund for African startups. Making the announcement at her office today, Omobola Johnson said

So if you run a tech-enabled startup with the potential to scale globally here in Nigeria and other Sub-Saharan African countries, now is the time to get your books in order and your pitch decks properly done. You never can tell; they might be reaching out to you soon.

About 12 hours ago, I asked the Igbo posters to mention one single Igbo entrepreneur not engaged in crime. Sadly, not a single Igbo poster in a forum of almost 2 million members could mention a single legit Igbo entrepreneur without a criminal history.

I guess I'll have to open a thread on most notable criminals in Nigeria so that my brothers on the erosion-plagued side of the Niger can feel a sense of belonging.

I don't want any slate-headed Biafran squirrel to start crying on the this beautiful thread like a bushbaby that Yorubas marginalized them on a thread about achievements.

You must think everyone is as jobless as you to open silly threads upandan, criminals and successful people abound in every damn demography and people, so nobody gives a fu.ckk about any sense of belonging or trash validation much less from a yoruba who is so obsessed with Igbo affairs in a yoruba thread.. Are you guys these cursed? Get a real life job and stop obsessing about people that can buy you, your entire family, and swap your entire lineage for a couple of change, you are probably a fraudster yourself so stfu and stop your incessant whining...lots of Igbos and yorubas are doing great both home and abroad, 11 of the best graduating students in Chemical Engineering majors from the University of California Los Angeles 2017 class were Igbos and yorubas, same for lots of top institutions all over the states...stop stupid competitions and be more useful to your life so others can celebrate you too.

Dumaknesset/Knessetduma, I just came across your parting words. To say the least, I am truly saddened by the fact that you chose this route. Why? There was no need to deactivate. While I can understand your anger & disappointment, I wish you had brought it to the floor of the house, using some other means. We could all have brainstormed on the issue and chipped in our 2 cents worth of advice on the best way to resolve this. You shouldn't let them win. And we all know who 'they' are.

Take my friend, Laudate. He was actually the one who invited me to NL. He has been on this forum for years, and has been banned countless times. The first few times he was banned, he tried to get back in via - LaudateII and Laudate IV. But those were banned in quick succession by the mods. There was one particular pro-Biaf.ran mod that witch hunted him to no end. But did he give up? No! He vowed not to let them run him off this forum, and laughed merrily at their antics, each time he was issued a ban.

Recently, he chided me for my apathy towards issues that had to do with my participation on NL, and accused me of sitting on the fence. He also challenged me to be consistent for 3 months in contributing my quota, to important topics on this forum. You see, I am very vocal on political issues, when I am in the midst of friends. But that is where it ends. Bringing my views to the public and trying to drive change, isn't my forte.

But I have discovered that if you keep your views to yourself sometimes, especially when you have the benefit of superior knowledge, then you allow ignorance to thrive. And those with nefarious motives end up polluting the atmosphere, with their asinine thoughts.

You have been a really valuable member on this thread. I for one, would be really sad to see you leave. As your contributions will be highly missed.

Wha-a-at? shocked Dumaknesset? Haba! Don't do this. Don't give those clowns any joy! Like CeterisXVII said, I have also suffered some bans. If there was a cash award tied to bans sef, I for don become multimillionaire! cheesy But I have vowed not to let those Mofos get the last word! Log back in, bro.'

And CeterisXVII, I saw your handwork. See as you take style uncover my aliases like this! shocked Anyway, thanks for your contributions. I have always known you had a tendency to get serious, despite your clownish behaviour. Keep up the good work, bro.'
