BabaRamota1980:
Him, yes sir! The one and only, Chief Henry Fajemirokun. grin grin
The first Southerner to own Rolls Royce.

Fajemirokun wealth alone go buy two thirds of Iboland. grin

The name of Chief Henry Oloyede Fajemirokun, is still spoken with reverence in corporate circles, till today. His business interests were captured under his firm, Henry Stephens Group of Companies. Fajemirokun was born a blue blood on 14 July 1926. He attended St. Peter’s School, Ile Oluji in Ondo State, St Lukes School, Oke-Igbo, CMS Grammar School Lagos and Ondo Boys’ High School in Ondo State.

Fajemirokun's entry into the world of business, came through trading in commodities, cocoa beans, groundnuts and cattle bones for export to Europe, under the name of Henry Stephens and Sons Limited, Lagos. He made a huge success of the export business. He also exported hides and skins, rubber, coffee and shea nuts in the early 1950s.

From there, he expanded into shipping. His company owned three Nigerian flag vessels, and operated a number of chartered vessels, while maintaining regular line services between ports in the West African sub region, the far-east and south American ports.

Everyone applauded the success of Henry Stephens Shipping Company, which owned the Nigerian Far East Line and the Nigerian South-American Line. Fajemirokun's penchant to explore new interests then gave rise to the Nigeria Maritime Services Limited (NMS), whose operations included clearing and forwarding, sea and air freighting, as well as free and bonded warehousing. The company also undertook packaging and removal activities with a specialization in door-to-door movement of goods.

At its peak, the NMS was described as the foremost removal company in Nigeria. Nigerian Maritime Services Limited, the shipping company he founded in 1962, is still one of the largest shipping companies in Nigeria today, according to Forbes International.

Another one of his firms was GILCO (Nigeria) Limited which handled sophisticated electrical equipment and machinery, electrical and mechanical power transmissions, marine radar as well as navigational and radio communication devices. GILCO acted as a representative of Hawker Siddley Electric Export Limited (Brush Switchgear Ltd), Brash Transformers Limited, Hawker-Siddley Power Transmissions Limited, Crompton Cables Limited, Chloride Group of Companies and Doulton Insulators Limited.

Others were GEC (lamps and Lightings) Ltd, GEC (Street Lighting Limited), manufacturers of fluorescent, flood and industrial lighting fittings, Hampson Automation Limited, manufacturers of power generating sets, D. Nagata, Midland Electric Manufacturing Company Limited , Aluminum Wire and Cable Company Limited, Sperry Marine Systems, Horstman Gear Company Limited, Safety Products Limited, Gandy Limited and CRC Limited.

A different arm of his company called Henry Stephens Engineering dealt in construction machinery and equipment. It also served as a distributor for many British, American, Swedish and Indian companies.

As his businesses grew, so did his stature in the business community. Fajemirokun held many positions in various Chambers of Commerce. By 1966, he was an executive council member of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At about the same time, he was President of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Other honours followed. These included Vice President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1970); President Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Mines (1972), first President, Federation of West African Chamber of Commerce (1972) and Vice President Federation of Commonwealth Chambers of Commerce (1978). Fajemirokun can certainly be described as a business mogul.

In his 52 years of life, he virtually turned the Nigeria corporate terrain, into a mosaic of his foot prints. Apart from more than ten companies in his stable, he also sat on the boards of several up-market companies, both within and outside the country.

Some of these include Marine and General Assurance Company Limited, Schiffarts and Handelgesellschaft Gmbh, Hamburgh Germany. He was also a director, First Bank Nigeria Limited, Non-executive Director Nigeria Krafts Bags Limited, Director Nigeria Sewing Machine Manufacturing Company Limited; Deputy Chairman Johnson Wax Nigeria Limited; Chairman Rank Xerox (Nigeria) Limited and Chairman of the old National Bank of Nigeria Limited. http://thenewsnigeria.com.ng/2017/03/facts-you-dont-know-about-how-henry-fajemirokun-made-his-billions/

He remained close to his roots, however. In 1968 he was conferred with the title of Yegbata of Ile-Oluji, Asiwaju of Oke-Igbo (1971), Lijoka of Ondo (1973), High Chief Orunta of Ifewara (1974) and the Obaloro of Ado Ekiti (1977). The University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife) also conferred on him the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science in Business Administration in 1972.

Today, that business concern he left behind Henry Stephens Group of Companies, is being run by his son Chief Oladele Fajemirokun. And that company is now said to be worth $670 million USD. He not only runs his late father's business empire, Dele also sits on the board of an oil exploration company, known as First Hydrocarbon Limited.

Dele Fajemirokun appears to have also acquired his late father's exclusive tastes. In 2012, he acquired a Maybach 62S automobile which he rode to Nicole and Naetochukwu Chikwe's wedding in July 2012. He and his wife were escorted to the wedding venue by a team of mobile policemen, in Land Rover jeeps. The type paraded by Chief Dele Fajemirokun is the MAYBACH 62S and is said to cost N69.2 million. The car is energized by a twin turbo V12 engine. https://plus.google.com/+9jalife/posts/UB2hrXEksXY

Founder/Aella Capital.

My name is Akinola Jones. I am Co-Founder and Partner at Aella Capital. I graduated from Howard University in Washington DC. As for prior work experience, I have a background in Technology, Media and Telecoms Investment Banking at various Wall Street firms. I later came back to Nigeria to go into Entrepreneurship but that didn’t go as planned. I then decided to go back into Investment Banking and worked for different investment banking boutiques in Lagos leading their advisory teams. So basically, I have both local and International Investment Banking experience.

Through its proprietary algorithm that allows instant money lending, this FinTech startup has made it their mission to disrupt the money lending business in Nigeria. So it is no surprise it got the attention of Y Combinator.

Aella Credit was recently in the spotlight for being the first African startup to present at Lendit — the largest lending conference in the world.

Sheriff Shittu’s Online Furniture Marketplace Is Closing Shop This Month

I launched showroom.ng almost 2yrs now and within months with all the permutation (maybe strategy) we were on a super roll, the dream roll. I think personally I wasn’t introspective enough as I was just riding with the tide. That’s super wrong for a CEO, “you don’t just work in your company you work on it”, so they say. I only read it, I didn’t live it.

I personally won’t attribute the failure to wrong market, or wrong product. It was a wrong execution.

It is unbelievable, to see that no-one cares, about me. I solicited for help as a Yoruba boy, from his great men and women here.Of course, there are great achievements here.

I am a student, very diligent but lacks funding.
Which will have been better, that I drop out of school or continue with the struggle?

Being shy to put my details, here, I was compel out of need to publicly put it, as requested.

I was tagged trying to defraud.
Which is a big slap to my upbringing.
Though am poor, but my integrity as a real, patriotic student and moral uprightness remains.
Even at this, I tried to post my details, forgetting shame, to attest to my claim.

I did upload,my details, but instead of giving me a consideration for help, the maximum return, I received was like.

This is quite disappointing.
I had been a victim of financial inability for a long while, and it is seriously getting to affect my academics. I had done all I can to try make ends meet, I tutor part one students. Even yet, I can't make up with my feeding expenses not to talk getting academics materials.

I am a medical student of Obafemi Awolowo University.
Soon, we shall have our incourse by August 2.

I need help of scholarship.
I need to focus on my academics.
I have passion for medicine, particularly, surgery.
I don't want to be limited by lack of funds.

But my greatest impediment remains lack of funding.
Am not like other fellow students.
I lack funds, and it is getting to my academics.
It is a painful situation.
Feeding alone is problem.

However, instead of helping me,I wasn't even given consideration in any case. All I was being tagged was a Igbo fraud boy.

Am disappointed that as great as the Yoruba race is, and as being portrayed here,I couldn't be helped.
Yes, I always believe we can.
I believe in other tribes too.
And I believe GOD in my little ability too.
This has kept me going.

But the truth is I lack funding, and it is affective.

I need scholarship for my medical studies.

Ejo e ran mi lowo.
I believe you can all help me.
I believe even someone can help me.

Please kindly consider my plight.
I need to remain focused with my academics.
First Incourse Exams will come in 9days.
Second in course in November and MB exam in January.
It is tough for me studying in this situation.

Whoever can help this brother should do.
I have confirmed his studentship.
I will be particularly happy if he can be granted a scholarship as this would bring a permanent solution to his financial incapacitation at school.
Help a brother in need.

What a student will need.

Timjack-Put a fee to them, so people can have an idea, before committing themselves. As for me I can take your monthly feeding allowance till you finish to start with. Guys save a life, it is not difficult really. Tim put a fee to it. Oautemitayo seems you can fix accommodation for him till he grad.

Also what exactly do you need money for ? School fees or accommodation or feeding etc

While he works on the scholarship, he needs to keep moving. I don't think anyone can help him with a scholarship as that is based on merit and man know man.

Yes, he can if we can spread the burden, for starters school fees per session in OAU for medical student can't be more than 50k, he has 5 more years to go, that is 250k.

His feeding allowance can be say 20k-30k if he can manage, that per annum should be like 360k or less.

Purchase of books and medical items that could be in the range of 100k per annum.

Clothing say 100k per annum.

If I take feeding, you take school fees, oautemitayo takes accomodation, we are almost done with giving a scholarship don't you think.

That's a good idea but I can't take care of all his school fees another can join in. Btw I was working while schooling to support myself and we have others like that.

30k even for feeding is too much. I don't even spend that in myself.

We will do our best. He will receive an alert this week.

Global motor assembling plant Lakki
LAGOS—Globe Motors, a leading auto mobile dealer in the country is set to boost Federal Government’s automotive policy from July when it rolls out first set of vehicles from its $150 million assembly plant in Lagos next month.

Chairman of Globe Motors Holdings, Mr. William Anumudu, who disclosed this in Lagos, yesterday, said the company was putting finishing touches to its assembly plant located at Lekki area, adding that the plant had a capacity for 40,000 cars on completion and would generate employment for 3,500 Nigerians. However, the plant will produce about 6,000 vehicles annually for a start, including passenger cars, pick-ups, high capacity buses and trucks. Anumudu added that another 10,000 jobs would be created indirectly as a result of the multiplier effect of the plant. According to him, the company will start with the production of Semi Knockdown parts, SKD, and later graduate to complete knock down parts, CKD, for Hyundai, Higer and Globe Motors brands. He further explained that the company would be assembling three brands of automobiles, including Hyundai (Korea), Higer (China) and its own brand, adding that the company had signed agreements with the Original Equipment Manufacturers, OEM, of these brands to produce the vehicles to global standards. Commending the government for coming up with a policy for the auto industry, Mr. Anumudu said: “We have made a lot of progress in the new plant. We keyed into the government auto policy, though we were hesitant at the beginning, but we have realized it is the way to the nation’s economic development.”

All these assistance stuff should be done privately, and not on the thread. It's better that way for both parties.

As he posted it the first time, folks willing to help would still have messaged him
