He is not the best we can present now in any way. For Rohr to look into it means he knows Akpeyi's selection was a catastrophe. The reality is that we did not do a thorough job in that department and I doubt it will continue.
He his our first choice for now. That is it.

Please don't get me wrong I do not have anything to gain or lose if Akpeyi mounts goal or not.

My own is he is getting an unfair criticism. He may not be the ideal Super Eagles goalie we all crave for but the thing is he is being unfairly blamed for most of our goals.

I know your own is because of Alampasu. He should keep working hard. His time will come.

From reports, Rohr is not satisfied with the goalkeeping department. At least we Ave seen my point on relying on just experience to select a goalkeeper. It is absolutely not a right working pattern.

Rohr also sees the keeper training section do not know what they are doing. Sad Agu got into that position after the bias selection that brought in an amateurish Sunday Oliseh. I wish The sacking axe fell in Agu along with Sunday Oliseh. Glad a foreign goalkeeping trainer is there to help us have a little less of the bias in that section.

And please enough of this experience talk. Select who is better.

Schedule for keeper position for the next crucial game.

I will do a screening process among the three keepers in camp and I believe Alampasu is the best. I always go for the best and will start Alampasu. It is shocking when people believe experience makes a worse talented keeper a better choice.

If Akpeyi does not perform better than Ezenwa in camp, then he loses his place in the team and Emma Daniel immediately takes the third spot for the next game. He was better than Akpeyi in camp for the Olympics. The better keeper takes the nod.

Until we find the best keeper before we can have the kind of longevity we enjoyed with Enyeama. Buffon reigned long because he was the best that long. Not most experienced for that long. That is a big misconception. Before Buffon sealed the position, he had a big battle with Toldo for the Italian number one Jersey.

Akpeyi's problem is not just his choices but his execution of his plans. He made the right choice to come out for that ball. But, his handling was worse than an Under 17 sub keeper. His decision to also come out to stop the free South African player was right but his execution to foul the player was atrocious.

That is not unfair criticism. It is a fact. What hurts most is that Alloy Agu did not do a proper screening process for the keeper role and I blame Rohr for giving Agu a free hand in that department. I hope it becomes a thing of the past soon.

In my humble opinion we should get team psychology and new goalkeeper trainer which NFF have now... Bad goal keeper can be the best , is about believing in them and not make feel bad as if their the worst keeper in the world

Could remember Vincent enyema back then in enyimba he's not the best back especially penalty area... We have ejide doing us proud abroad and chance we re given to Vincent repeatedly...

Remember 2002 2004 nation cup.. Do you still remember our semi final match against CIV? Where we re beaten by alone goal by CIV goal scored by drogba.. Check the goal and check second goal of SA

Who was in goal At that moment almighty Vincent...

We should stop blaming players we all have bad days

We should remember bravo, and fmr Barça goalie. .. Could not remember his name now... They are have worst moment... What of Joe Hart?

We should psyche them up and believe in them... Yes he's not the best we have but we cant just change the whole team at this moment of the competition cos we need a replacement, that's one of the reason we lost sa match... We should keep inviting everyone to the team...

Everybody keeps giving instance of 2002 world cup... Where young Vincent man the post but we have forgotten that we re out of the competition at that moment... If we qualify Now yes we can experiment with other players but now... We should stick with our warriors...

Thanks

Best.

That is the keyword. Can Alloy Agu open his mouth and tell us among the three keepers he selected the best? That is where I am irritated with him. If he can not do the basic part of his job, then he is detrimental to the success of the team.

Can you juxtapose it if he man the post come Aug 2017?

Enyeama was the best among our selected keeper. His bad side was his penalties. With time and working with Ike Shorunmu, his reflexes became top notch. No one is against keepers having occasional errors. The problem is when a clearly weaker keeper gets the nod ahead of keepers better than him.

Akpeyi was a calamity waiting to happen. He only got the nod based on experience and not quality.

I am always for the long-term and not short term.
Akpeyi's regular keeping in front of spectators did not bail him out. Our best bet is having the best hands in goals. There are bad days but the safest solution is with the safest hands and not most watched hands.

I also believe in talents.

I know where to draw the lines between talents and experience.

For eg I have always opined that I prefer young talented forwards.

But in the defense I am more comfortable with experienced talented players.

Enyeama was not just bad at penalties. He was very poor at crosses. I guess his height was a deterring factor. He has improved on this area but you can still see he labours when dealing with crosses.

We should not throw anyone in based on experience. We need to throw in our best hands among the three and keep searching for better hands. That is the only way to have a top quality goalkeeper in goal for a long time.

This is the best post I've seen so far about this goalkeeper issue.
I have asked a question in the past which nobody could answer me. I asked if Enyeama, Rufai or Ikeme was in goal against SA, which one of them could have stopped that 2nd goal?

I'm not saying Akpeyi is the best goalkeeper in the world but blaming him for those goals or for the defeat against SA is like giving a dog a bad name just to kill it.

Organising the defence is part of selecting the best. It is not all about reflexes. Another reason why I am rooting for Alampasu. That was a part of the game the journalists pointed about him. He kept barking orders to the defenders.

You have received the answer, but still want to argue. Akpeyi made the wrong choice of not taking down the player and getting sent off. One nil down and we are still in the game.

In the attack, we have seen changes. From Ideye, Iheanacho, Ighalo, Osimhen, Kayode. The search for our striking department is in full swing. In midfield we have seen Esiti, Agu, Onazi, Ndidi, Mikel etc. Still in motion. In the goalkeeping department, we are met with stagnant responses.

Akpeyi training separately from the team and earning automatic shirt without a fight. Terrible.

Awaziem did not fizzle out. Our disorganized midfield and left back gave so much gap and left Awaziem stranded at the back with numerous task to do. Even Sammer will look terrible in that set up.
