To make the answer easy:
OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer, used to describe parts/ units/ components outsourced to specialized companies to be produced to specifications of the vehicle or machinery manufacturer. Example is Denso or Bosch producing electronic units like sensors and switches in a Toyota car. This makes Denso or Bosch unit the OEM of that part in the said Toyota car.

VIN - Vehicle Identification Number also called Chassis Number is an alphanumeric unique tag on automobiles used to identify every car produced.

Engine Number - it is the serial number of a vehicle engine.

VIN is not the same thing as Engine Number.

The car does not have engine number written on the car body, so what to do after an engine swap is to take vehicle documents and the engine number of the replacement engine to a vehicle licensing office so a new vehicle license with the new engine number will be issued. That way the law enforcement officer won't even know an engine transplant took place already.

Believe me it's an intellectual oversight not that I do not know, I just mangled things up my brain possibly cos gazzuzz was asking one VIN guru to get ready to access the data of the new engine he's about to purchase so I assume nonchalantly engine number is same as vin number.

I will like to take back the highlighted statement, not only did I get a shop that would accept transfers, they also have a money counting machine, a dedicated accountant, and a P.O.S

arrived ladipo, called computerglobal to be on standby for several SMS that will hit his mobile.


Went on an engine hunting spree.

Weather was very favorable, street urchins were no where to be found.

Went into the market to start inspecting 2gr engines.


Now vin reports are not free, so first thing is to use your sense to identify the nigerian assembled engines from the foreign used ones

That is no small task as my people have also upgraded their masking skills.

I went over about 20different engines, until I settled for 2.

Sent both Vins to computerglobal and he delivered promptly to my mailbox


It was easy to eliminate the wayo engine....
