Nate sat with a chicken pie in his left hand and his phone in the other hand, typing and smiling like a love struck teenager.

It's 3:45PM, he had arrived early because of the things he had to put in place for his date with Juliet.

He was about eating the last piece of chicken pie when she showed up in front of him.

''Oh, you came early'' he said and stood up for a hug.

''You came earlier, this must be special''

With a mischievious smirk on his face, he answered ''It's very special'' and threw his last piece of pie into his mouth ''What would you like to have?''

''Anything'' she answered and sat down.

''I'm celebrating this day, so I will order something special''

''Thanks Nate''

''You're welcome' he beckoned to a waiter, who soon arrived with the menu.

He quickly placed the order ''Before that, just give me a bottle of the best non-acoholic wine you've got'' he said to the waiter, before turning back to Juliet.

''So, where do I start now?'' he asked and shut his eyes for a second before opening them again ''I'm very sorry for the way I've treated you''

''Nate, that's all in the past now, I've forgive you''

''Serious?''

''Yeah, I easily forgive'' she answered as Nate poured the wine which the waiter has just arrived with, into the two glasses.

''I easily forgive also, the only thing I find hard to forgive is cheating, I hate being cheated'' he smiled and handed a glass to her.

''Woah! That's something we have in common''

''Since, we're starting afresh, I'm sure you would like to know one or two things about me''

She nodded affirmingly.

''Let me not bore you, actually I used to believe in love until I met this girl called Bella, she pretended to be head over heels in love with me and I also thought I was in love with her, I trusted her more than myself, but the moment she got the chance, she almost dried up the company's account and since then I've stopped believing in love'' he finished with a grimace, as he remembered how Bella had fled the day he saw her at the resturant.

''Oh! I'm so sorry about that'' she sympathised.

''It's in the past now but that doesn't mean I've forgotten or that I haven't learnt my lesson, I hate pretentious people''

''Nate, just so you know, I'm here for you now''

''Thanks Sweetheart, I'm happy I've found love again''

She giggled excitedly ''I'm also happy'

He raised his glass up for a toast ''Cheers to a new found love''

''Cheers to a new found love'' she repeated as their glasses touched.

''Just hang in there, it will be fine'' Vicky assured her husband as they alighted from the car.

''I pray so'' he replied.

They walked quietly to the main building, just when Ken was about to press the door bell, the door flew open, revealing his step mother, who as usual, dressed elegantly, to fit her status as a billionaire's wife.

''Good evening Ma'' Vicky greeted.

''My daughter, welcome, where is Chiagozie?'' she asked.

''He's with his other grandma, don't worry I will bring him next week'' Vicky answered with smiles ''That is if today goes well'' she thought to herself before pinching Ken who has been standing like a statue.

''Uhm! Good evening'' he said to his step mum, before turning to give his wife a deadly look.

''Come in''

They chorused ''Thanks'' before stepping into the beautiful mansion, Ken took a quick glance round the manision, ''Things have changed'' he thought and then walked towards his wife.

''It's been long I visited here'' he whispered to her.

''We both know that, but this place has changed alot'' she answered, looking around.

''sit down'' Ken's step mum gestured to them, as if they're strangers.

''Thanks Ma'm'' Ken answered and hissed inwardly, wondering why she has been smiling like a clown since she came out to welcome them.

''Let me go and call your dad'' the older woman said and walked away before they even had a chance to say anything.

They sat quietly and waited.

The clearing of throat from the top of the stairs, announced the arrival of Ken's dad.

Ken swallowed severally, he was at lost on what to do, if he should be happy or not, or if he is ready to hear what his dad has to say or not.

Vicky noticed his discomfort and held his hand ''Calm down'' she whispered gently.

''I had the best day ever'' K.C shouted the moment he walked into his apartment, hand in hand with Matilda.

''Thanks to who?'' she asked, feigning anger.

''Thanks to my Matilda'' he replied and gave her a quick hug.

''Now you're talking, that movie was out of this world, I can't wait for the next season to come out''

''Why won't it be out of this world, when your crush George Clooney starred in it'' he teased and she threw a throw-pillow at him.

''Hey, stop it Baby, I'm really hungry now''

''I will prepare something, don't say a word, I still know your favourite'' she said and walked into the kitchen.

He smiled as he switched on his phone, but the smiled vanished when he saw a text from Dami, asking him to please come over

''Dad, you've been talking non-stop for two hours now and you haven't answered my question'' Ken rudely said to his dad.

''Impatience, you see, that's another problem I have with you''

''Dad, just answer me, did I kill my mum or not?'' he asked, ignoring his father's cold look.

''You did'' His dad answered harshly ''You did, you killed my wife''

He breathed in deeply and bowed his head ''Dad, how?''

''Vicky dear, let's clear this place and take the dishes to the kitchen'' Ken's step mum said to Vicky, who has been looking curiously from father to son.

''Alright ma'' she replied and stood up lazily and began packing the plates that they've just used to eat, she wished she could say no to the older woman so she could stay and hear what her father In-law has to say, but she couldn't, father and son needs space to talk.

She packed the plates and brushed her husband slightly with her knee, when he looked up at her, she smiled warmly to him before following her mother In-law into the kitchen.

''Leave it, leave it'' the woman said to her as she was about to start washing the dirty plates ''The maids will do that''

''Okay'' Vicky replied and leaned on the wall.

''They needed space for their father and son discussion, that's why I asked you to follow me'' the woman explained to Vicky.

''I thought as much'' Vicky answered.

They stood silently for some seconds, before Vicky finally blurted what has been on her mind.

''What did you say?'' the woman asked.

''I said, Why do you hate Ken'' Vicky repeated boldly and was startled when the woman started laughing.

''Did I say something wrong?'' Vicky asked, puzzled.

''No, actually you didn't, what makes you think I hate your husband?''

''It's obvious'' Vicky replied, sharply.

Coming closer, the woman placed a hand on Vicky's shoulder ''My daughter, there are some things that are just hard to explain and this is one of them, but I want you to know that I don't and I have never hated Kennedy, why should I hate my son?''

''But you call him a wizard and you talk to him harshly'' Vicky said softly.

''I blame that fake prophet for making me believe what is not true, I don't hate him''

Vicky compressed her lips as she looked at the woman, through narrowed eyes, wondering if she's lying or not.

''I know it's hard to believe, but trust me, I don't hate Kennedy, you will get to know everything soon'' the woman assured with a heart-melting smile.

''But, how come...how come, you didn't support our marriage?'' Vicky asked, still curious and eager for answers.

''Still part of the things you will get to know soon''

Vicky was about to ask another question when Ken stormed into the kitchen, her heart skipped a beat when she saw the look on his face.

''Ken, why, why...

''Let's go now!'' he ordered and walked away, still fuming angrily.

She waved at her mother In-law before running after Ken, she quickly searched for her father In-law so as to bid him goodbye, but he was no where to be found, she had no other choice than to run to Ken who was already honking impatiently.

''Woah! This food is delicious'' K.C said with a thumb up.

''This is actually my first time of cooking for you, you know that right? back then you never allowed me near your kitchen'' Matilda replied, dishing more of the Egusi soup into his plate.

''That was then, things have changed, this doesn't taste bad'' he replied.

''Admit it, I'm a good cook''

''Best food I've eaten after my mum's'' he replied mockingly and she hit his arms.

''You're not good at hiding things, I can see you're enjoying the food''

''I need to go and thank that woman that sells at the junction, if not for her I won't be eating this delicious food'' he answered without looking up.

''I cooked it Mr'' Matilda retorted.

''But I went out to buy the food stuffs'' he answered and threw a mock salute at her.

She eyed him and he smiled, remembering how she looked, when she ran out of the kitchen to tell him that his kitchen is completely empty; no foodstuffs, no noodles, nothing at all. What was she expecting in a bachelor's house?

''Pick your call'' Matilda informed him and he smiled and checked the caller's I.D.

''Not important'' he said as he pushed his phone aside, Dami has called almost 10 times in the last one hour, she sent several text but as soon as they enter, he deletes them.

''Who's that?'' Matilda asked.

''Just someone I know'' he replied casually.

''Ex-girlfriend?''

''Something like that, I've got the 3rd season of Magic Mike, would you like to watch it with me'' he asked Matilda.

She laughed and gave him a thumbs up ''You always know what I want''

''Admit it, we're compatible'' K.C answered, tilting his head sideways.

''K.C, you've not changed, you want to put words in my mouth right?''

K.C's phone rang again, another call from Dami, he hissed and angrily switched off his phone.

Nate walked out of the resturant with Juliet walking closely besides him.

''That was great, thanks for coming'' he said to her, the moment they got to his car.

''I enjoyed every bit of it, you're so romantic, everything was just too awesome'' she replied, smiling and flashing her 32 teeths.

''You're welcome, I wanted to do something that you would forever remember'' he said, laughing.

''Oh! I would forever remember our first real date'' she added coolly.

''First and Last'' Nate said, his smile quickly morphing into a deep grimace.

''What? How do you mean?'' Juliet asked, obviously confused by the sudden change of his facial expression.

''Look behind you'' he said and she quickly turned, her eyes almost popped out when she saw two women behind her, one on a police uniform and the other on mufti.

''Na...

''You're under arrest ma'm'' the one on mufti interrupted rudely.

''What? What did I do? Nate what did I do to you?''

''Juliet, I'm not stupid okay? I actually know you're behind the gay accusation, I wonder who your accomplice is but I don't care to know''

''Na...

''Don't Nate me'' he screamed ''Oh! You actually think I would not monitor the movement of the money, in and out of the so called Gamma Rayan's account, Oh! Grow up, I'm not dumb''

''Nate, I'm sorry, I only wanted to get your attention'' Juliet pleaded, going down on her knees.

''Now you have my attention, so of what use is my attention to you?'' he asked in a loud voice.

''I love you Nate and I know you love me too''

''I don't love you, not even a bit and please stop deceiving yourself, it's infatuation, you don't love me at all'' he answered in a much louder voice.

''Nate please, don't do this to me, I don't want to go to Jail'' she pleaded, still on her knees.

''Princess, nobody is sending you to Jail, I actually have human sympathy, you only need to write an undertaking, stating clearly that you will stay away from me and If something like this repeats itself, then Jail it is''

''Nate, you love me, don't do this to me''

''Juliet, stop disgracing yourself, people are watching, I've found love, yes that's true, but definately not with you'' he spat out stridently and unlocked his car.

''Nate, plea...

''Juliet, keep the money and please stay away from me, I don't love you and I never will, like I said I hate being cheated and I hate pretentious people like you, I gave you enough time to confess it yourself, but no, you didn't, you were in there, smiling like a christmas goat'' he angrily said to her before entering his car.

He watched as the women took Juliet away.

''Pretender!'' he shouted as he brought his phone out of his pocket.

''Hello my darling Jane, I'm coming over, hope the party has not ended?''

She gave him the answer he needed and he hung up.

''I love you Nate, I love you Nate'' he mimicked Juliet before laughing and driving off.
