nengibo:since you agree with tonye that okrikas have a stake in pH city because of the numerous court verdicts, don't irmt be wise and fair to accept that opobo nkoro belongs to Igbo's due to the court verdicts supporting the jaja rulership against the attempt by ijaws to smuggle amanyanabo kingship into opobo nkoro? |

Ijaw area in PH begin at Borikir, and end at station aka Lagos bus stop. From Super board down to Diobu moving into the entire Rebesi area (Elekahia, Ogbunabalai, Oroworukwo, Ezumbu, Orochiri, including Evo Epara, etc are all Ikwerre land. Their traditional landmark is still standing in these areas to prove their ownership. This long epistle by Mr. Tonye cannot erode history nor tradition. |

nengibo:you mean Ijaw migrant & fishers? remind me of how you Ijaw tried to Steal the throne of Jaja & smuggle an Ijaw migrant into the throne in order to easily carry out ur Ijaw agenda in Opobo M sure you all still remember what happened & finally how the court ruled that the entire Opobo is jaja's dynasty & Estate & can not be contested by any body. Even Jaja's agreement with Britain over Opobo is still well known & recorded. and once again. may I remind you that jaja named his Estate Opobo in respect to one of his Ijaw friend who was an amayanabo |

Jaja owners of the estate called Opobo are highly educated and are more than capable of protecting their estate from hawks, I see no reason any Igbo man should be fighting for them. Let them be, let them be the ones reaching out to us like Obigbo, Egbema, Enu ani are doing, we had already extended the olive branch, and they know our position. Igbos in Benue called for our help since, they reached out, and I don't think any Igbo group had taken out time to reach out to these people and fashion ways to help solve their basic problems like water supply. What does it take for Ohanaeze to rally up funds and sink some boreholes for those communities and keep their loyalty to the Igbo cause intact. The Isobo ( Igbo speaking tribe in Obubra Cross River) had reached out to us, we are yet to do anything about them, I doubt Ohanaeze know of their existence. The Isobos are currently enmeshed in a land boundary clash with Ezza tribe of Igbo in Ebonyi state, they(Isobo) are accusing Umahi ( governor of Ebonyi state) of using his executive powers in assisting the Ezza in annexing Isobo lands. Cross River government is non challant about the issue since they reason it's a clash amongst two Igbo tribes( Ezza and Isobo). Tempers are running high there, and anti SE sentiments amongst the people is on the rise because of Ebonyi state government parochial stance on the matter, it's only a matter of time before Isobo proclaims independence from Igbo ethnic group to protect her lands from Ebonyi aggressive annexation. Igbo people are not worried about this, they are more interested in non Important non Igbo groups like Ikwerre and the rest who have nothing but hostility to offer us. When are we going to change our ways of thinking and behavior? |

Tussle For Port Harcourt: Publish Supreme Court Ruling Or…, Okrika Challenges Ikwerre By Ken Asinobi The debate over the ownership of Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State is far from over as the Port Harcourt Aborigines (Wakirike) has challenged the Rebisi Community of Port Harcourt Local Government Area to publish the Supreme Court judgment which purportedly ceded ownership of the 'disputed' area to them. The group said it was important that the judgment from the apex court be published so that Rivers people and Nigerians at large should see and judge for themselves. Wakirike, through a statement jointly signed by its President, Chief Darrick Acheseomie and Chairman, Publicity Committee, Elder Samuel Iyoyo JP, faulted the claim by the Rebisi Progressive Movement (RPM) that the argument over ownership of Port Harcourt was laid to rest following a Supreme Court Judgment in Suit No. SC123/80 in Woluchem& 5 Others VsGudi& 7 Others, purportedly in favour of Rebisi people. The Rebisi group, who were also reacting to earlier claim by the Okrikans to the effect that a larger portion of Port Harcourt City, including the Government House area belonged to Wakirike, said such assertion was according to them, unwarranted and misleading, adding that the entire Government House area was the ancestral home of some families in Ogbunabali Community. In the statement which was signed by the President of RPM and former Caretaker Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government, Sam SoniEjekwu as well as Secretary, Kingsley Omodu, the group said the reference to Justice Okara's judgment in Suit No. PHC/45M176 which Okrika had earlier made to substantiate their own claim was a nullity as, according to them, it did not decide the issue of ownership of Port Harcourt, rather dealt with claim for payment of compensation by some Communities of Okrika. But, the Port Harcourt Aborigines who in a recent interview with National Network waved off the purported judgment of the apex court as a misrepresentation and clearly unconnected with the issue at hand, noted that the Supreme Court case merely resolved a disputed land matter between two families in Rebisi and Ozuboko, even as the Okrika people faulted the Supreme Court 'Suit No. SC123/80 in Woluchem & 5 Others VsGudi& 7 Others' as wrong. “The Supreme Court Suit being flaunted by the Rebisi Progressive Movement is clearly unrelated with the issue at hand and we therefore urge Ikwerres to provide more credible evidence to make their claims to the sole ownership of Port Harcourt. “We are giving them 14 days to publish that Supreme Court ruling which declared or suggests that Okrika has no stake in the ownership of Port Harcourt. In the event that they (Ikwerre) fail to publish the document within the time frame, we shall not only publish it but shall expose those behind the misrepresentations”, the Aborigines warned. The spokesperson of the Wakirike group noted that their position should not be misconstrued as a threat as Okrikas are peace loving people who maintain good relations with its neighbours, particularly Ikwerres whom they described as 'family brothers and sisters'.# |

I have read the the agreement and I find your caption very misleading. Firstly the agreement was made with the diobu people in may while that of the okirika people was made in october of the same year. I think making the agreement with the ikwerre people first showed that they owned most of the land if not all of it. You will argue. Secondly, the ikwerre people were paid 500pounds while the okirika people were paid 100pounds. This goes to show some point I made initially. And how the right to Port Hatcourt was lost to the okirika people is still what I am trying to understand from your post. Pls could u clarify? |
