After driving on taxify and uber, (though I drive my own car) I started thinking how those on rentals cope. I see how difficult d job is now. With uber peanut fare and taxify long awaiting riders request. Most car owners/investors seat some where and expect their driver to deliver 35k to 40k weekly. To me, i feel every one should come down a little. Car owners/investors reduce to 25 to 30k please. And uber should also reduce there 25 percent to 5 percent and taxify should do more publicity. Its not easy. Kudos to all d drivers out there!

I am with you my brother.
Not as easy as it's said until you get on the road yourself, then you know

typical nigerian.

he made 35k on saturday... does he make 35k everyday of the week?

how much does he make every other day of the week?

does he eat? what does he eat a day? how much does he spend on food? how much does he spend on airtime and data? does he wash the car? how much does he spend on the car weekly? what of the other days he didnt make 35k? how did he cope with stress and frustration of not getting requests? did you care? did you bother? he made 35k and you are getting excited and unnecessarily egoistic because you own a car?

with the way you were moaning and complaining all over this thread of your inability to make money on uber, one would have thought that, atleast, you would understand what drivers go thru on lagos roads. is it easy to drive long hours? it is sweet and very easy to paste results, but have you asked how those results were made?

again, typical nigerian. i have always said it and will continue to say it.... that you cannot do it does not mean it is impossible. people who strategize ways to do something you failed woefully at, should also be allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labor. if it is so easy, buy 2k fuel this saturday and drive on taxify. if you make 35k i will deactivate this account. then make that 35k every other day of the week.

this is why this country is so messed up. some people just sit somewhere, whip out their calculators and calculate how much a driver should be making and how much he should be delivering.

now, according to your mumbo jumbo analysis posted up there, where you questioned why drivers should want to make more than 20k weekly for themselves, how much do you think a driver will be left with after feeding himself, washing the car, and buying airtime and data?

you have driven on uber and taxify bla bla yada yada.... so.... why did you stop if it was so easy? now you talk of investors getting discouraged? is it by force ni? must they invest in taxi business? so investors will shy away from investing because they are scared drivers would make more money than they would? what a warped, insensitive and jejunistic mentality!

"the more investors are discouraged the more drivers are jobless".....

this has got to be the most useless and simplistic quote i have read all month.... did you create drivers that you can now determine that they will be jobless? most drivers you see here are skilled professionals with differnt reasons why they choose to drive. so you own a car and makes you better than them?

what a 1895 mentality!

Truth is bitter.

Many investors are shying away because of drivers cheating. If you go to Uber office, plenty of drivers hanging around with no cars. I recognize a particular guy, he has been there @least 3months.

Of course I don't expect my driver to make 35k everyday, @least weekend money is enough to cover the rent, and then the rest he made during the week belongs to him.

Yes, I complained about Uber and I have quit Uber, but that doesn't mean people don't make money with Uber, or can't deliver 40k weekly,.

Owners are suppose to demand for more money under Uber, because cars are used more.

Tell me which company in Nigeria pays 20k weekly? 80k monthly minimum...

If you like be a doctor or lawyer, I don't care, wat u choose to do right now is to drive, so you are a driver, try to be honest about it.

You felt 20k weekly is poor for drivers, why not go and get ur own car, then you increase ur earning to 60k weekly. Or ask ur kinsmen or church to buy you a car free.

The amount of wait time, facing traffic or insults from riders is part of the job, so go to work and stop sharing ur frustration, is all about making money.

Haven't you scolded a bank cashier b4, or pressure them to hurry and answer you, or shout @ a Nepa officials for cutting ur light? Or even scold them for low power supply yet they are demanding money, as if the money you are paying directly goes to their pockets.

Listen in every job there is frustration, which you must face in other to survive.

Don't justify ur cheating act, because of the job nature, you were given the job description b4 u start.

I have driven under Uber platform and Im sharing my experience to all owners, don't let drivers deceive u, 40k is the least you should demand for, and ask for 40k deposit, if he doesn't have money request for daily payment, so if he will cheat, he won't cheat you more than a day.

Start with buying cars, then find a driver and demand 25k. It's so easy to say.

Stop trying to cheat car owners, 40k should be the least car owners should get.

If you drive 10 - 12hours for 6days, you will make minimum of 60-70k minus fuel money. So drivers are taking home 20-30k minimum weekly, after paying 40k weekly rental.

I have driven Uber and taxify, only weekends money is enough to cover ur car rental.

Last week Saturday my driver made 35k on taxify with 2k fuel.

The more you are trying to cheat car owners, the more you will discourage new investors, the more drivers will be jobless.

Car or okada

Every mechanic by nature is a cheat, the job goes with cheating. Change this and that knowing fully well, you will resell it after it has been removed.
You and drivers are 5/6.

Maybe the parrot owns a hybrid.

No one cared to ask

Maybe sha, but even though, the starts/stops between trip will almost finish the 2k fuel. More so, that driver must have driven approx. 350km to make that amount on the said day

I will like to believe you have worked in a corporate organisation before the advent of e-hailing services, and I can bet your coy dint make you work 14-15hours a day for 7days just to make 30k as take home per week. Because if they did, you probably won't be here typing all of these.
Be realistic abeg.

As a driver, the days I work up to 12 hours in the week can't be more than 3, other days are just 8-10hours. If not, all the money one makes will be spent on medications in due course.

Demanding high fares for rental has only made it imperative that the driver will drive your goddamn car to its death...then you will begin to complain that the driver is reckless, everyday fault; what car owners don't understand about these machines is the more they are on the road, the more susceptible they are to breakdowns.

Let be wise and fair.

Few weeks ago, Parrot was complaining about low demand, crying to Romeo and the rest that has been posting high earnings. now she joined taxify and made 35k in one day(no proof to verify this though), you're now here yarning dust, you're on the road abi? fine.

They manufacturers of brand new car that give warranty of 2years or 100,000km "whichever comes first" aren't stupid. They made these cars and they know what's up. While in 2yrs the car might only have driven 50,000km depending on the owners movements, the 100,000km can be elapsed in 2months. After which nothing for you.

Again be wise.

I will say it again 40k should be minimum. Even if you take 35k drivers will still drive more to make more.

Driving under Uber means driving more, so there is no 2ways about it.

If you take less, you are definitely cheating yourself. You will still have to fix the car, with Lagos road nature, expect to change, ball joint, stabilizer leakage and others.

If you drive from 6-6 u will still make your money, be it Uber or taxify.

I will say it again, taking 20-30k home weekly, for 6days drive, is fair enough...

Drivers that drive those buses to Abuja everyday make far less than 20k weekly.

I believe those jumping into Uber driving are greedy people, they are looking for owners, they will take advantage of.

One mechanic is here misleading owners, that they should take 25k weekly, not to have hbp, even if you take 15k they will still cheat you.

That mechanic don't have a single car he bought with his money under Uber platform, all the car he post doesn't belong to him, belong to people he was ripping off.

Romeo3 was fighting everybody claiming Uber price reduction is the best thing that happen to him in his entire life, flaunting 120k weekly earnings and 25k daily earning,

Now he is still claiming 40k weekly rental is too much, is that not pure greed?

Now he is part of those advising car owners to take 25k weekly.

Well those drivers don't drive for 6days, they have their offs, and you are not sure they earn less than 70-80 per month. Take it from me.

And long distance driving is far better than the short drops n pick ups. You just can't justify your idea of 30k for 14hours for 6days. Take it from me.
