I still have a fondness for the BlackBerry because
1. I don't use a lot of apps. Games urg - I have an iPad
2. Third party developers have created replacement apps for instagram and Whatsapp. Nemory studio for e.g is committed to servicing the bb10 legacy devices
3. I am getting older and don't have the cognitive band width to go searching for messages everywhere on my phone- give me a centralized hub anyday
4. My work requires a really secure phone. I in particular like the finger scanner and the keyboard suggestion and the swipe up feature do it for me.

So those are my biases. Oh yes.

I think it's a good phone for the business user. It feels good and looks OK. I don't do much apart from business emails ( tons of it) so don't quote me on processor performance.

For a more technically astute review https://m.crackberry.com/blackberry-keyone-review

Have fun!

I love you for this, I currently use a BlackBerry Passport silver edition and I'm planning on moving to the Keyone. This op almost broke my heart with this his revelation, till I realized that he wasn't sure what he bought the phone for. I'm a business man who uses my BlackBerry strictly for emails and whatsapp business communications . I don't download games and I rarely watch videos on my phone. So I guess the Keyone is for me.

Thanks a lot

With heavy heart, I regret to inform you all that my decision to go for Blackberry Keyone was the greatest mistake I have ever made in chosen a smartphone.

If you intend going for that phone, please don't waste your money like I did.

I bought the phone 227k on the 14th of July, after discovering so many abnormalities with the phone I divided to swap the phone with IPhone 7plus.

The screen of the phone was very small and the navigating keypads are very slow in responds.

The only good thing about the phone is just the battery life.

It was a nightmare to me when no one inside computer village agreed to swap a phone of 227k even if it's for Tecno C1

The only person who agreed to accept the phone was the man who sold it to me. He told me that he can only pay 110k or I pay 185k for the Iphone7 plus. I talked with with for so many hours but he refused.

Tear nearly role out from my eyes as I transferred the 185k to him.

Nothing will ever make me use an Android phone again.

Please don't make the same mistake I made.

But you were gushing about the phone here

https://www.nairaland.com/3936539/unboxing-new-blackberry-keyone.

Your words were " i love this phone!"

And for committing the sacrilege of attempting to swap a Samsung Note 5 for (the horror!) a Tecno Phantom, you deserved to lose your money.

Serves you right.

Well, I can't really say I pity you. If I had the same amount of money you used to buy the KeyOne, I would have gone straight for a proper flagship. Blackberry is yet to prove themselves in the market again. You could have gotten almost any 2016 flagship at that price, and one without controversial issues like adhesive-less screen panels. undecided

Don't blame it on Android, mister.

Huawei is a mainstream player. They are presently the third largest OEM in the world and closing on the second placed Apple. The latter should be watchful else she will be usurped.

I was expecting you to mention some lowly brands anyway

Yeah, you're right on that, Huawei has upped its game & moved up the food chain. There are other companies like Xiaomi, Meizu, LeEco (even with their current problems) that are revolutionalizing the market and bringing out "flagship killers".

Leave this OP.

Don't be surprised, he may want to open another thread very soon, on how the iPhone 7 Plus is too limited and how he had to exchange it for an Android phone.

Who complains about the screen-size of a pkb? What was he effing expecting? He is prolly a power user, and he is complaining about slow response when he bought a phone with SD 635.

Bros I got 128gb of IPhone7 plus.it will take years for me to go for another phone.

This isnt about money but stupidity. In this day and age, it's normal to read up infos before buying a products especially when it's available everywhere. I've got an s6 edge and it's being two years and still going strong. I checked it out completely before settling for it.

OP I was actually interested in the keyone. watched so many reviews on youtube.

But it just did not feel right. You have the iphone 7s, the samsung and then the nexus for pure android folks.

the keyone is just a bad idea. Google should just buy it and merge it with motorola. For whatever patents they can get from it.

bb days are over. Business men have gotten used to samsungs and iphones.

Brillaint piece that most people don't understand. Plus i noticed the op is a dummy. He doesn't do his research before buying phones. He left Samsung Note 5 cos of memory( it's known not to have an expandable memory). Jumped on KeyONE thats basically for business and now on iPhone 7 plus. He will soon cry on this one too cos the memory can't be expanded.

You can only call me a dummy on NL! you may be insulting your boss!

You should have known better!

Where do i start from sef

You didn't do due diligence, when checking reviews you check for negative reviews not just regular regular. E.g searches like BB KEYONE PROBLEMS Not unboxing and reviews

Secondly you went from a 5.7" phone to a 4.5" phone and you expected the screen to feel bigger eh?

Thirdly who uses a BB these days?? Like what for?? and if at all you have to use one def not one with android os/support. You're better off getting an Android and a BB than those.

Lastly you should have listed the phone on OLX for sale @200k rather than swap it at that ridiculous amount.

Next time do your due diligence before buying a phone!

Exactly.
I was just laughing at that dude as he said he got the iPhone 7 Plus.
Someone who is used to Android generally will not enjoy switching to iOS.
And he might not even know that iPhones don't ha very expandable memory. He might have even bought a 32GB model grin grin

OP, don't forget to tell us when you're having problems with your iPhone.
Maybe then you'll switch to Windows cheesy

Sorry I got the 128gb version grin angry grin

I'm not hating, but what most of us are talking about is getting a phone that fits your needs. You say you want it to last for "years," then why not go for a 64GB ROM phone with microSD slot that can support up to 2TB? Which is doubly great because depending on usage, phones with non-removable batteries will eventually have batteries that don't hold a charge sooner or later, and you'd have to switch. Popping microSD's is more convenient than backing up and transferring GBs of data.

The iPhone 7 Plus doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, did you factor getting the AirPod into your decision (it costs around 50k last I checked)?

Are you cool with the closed iOS ecosystem, having to use iTunes to transfer media files that you'd be able to do via Xender seamlessly on Android?

The iPhone 7 Plus is without doubt very smooth to operate, but so is the Google Pixel XL.

Now, I'm not saying the 7+ is not a great phone. The i7 duo outsells every other smartphone on the planet, but the KeyONE is BB's best selling phone since they switched to Android, yet you regretted buying it.

These aren't the days of Symbian (Lord rest its soul) and BBOS, when you randomly buy a phone and know what to expect simply by looking at its spec list.

One could prefer the LG G6 over the S8 because of the flat screen that's less liable to break when it falls or its fingerprint scanner placement, and another person would prefer the S8 over the LG G6 because of its better battery life or better resale value.

Both are good phones and hold their own exceptionally, you just have to go for which is a better fit for you.

So next time you make a poor decision on a gadget, don't go around lampooning the brand or OS for your mistake. It's your fault. Take responsibility, and remedy your bad decision, however unpleasant it is. Unless you buy a device like the HTC U Play or use the Windows 10 Mobile OS, and then it'd be justifiable to take a shot at the device or OS while regretting your poor decision.

Samsung galaxy S7 edge has a very good battery optimizer.

It's a Snapdragon chipset; so a 3000mah battery would serve you a whole day on heavy usage.

OP, you didn't do your research well. There's nothing wrong with it just that it didn't match your use.

Problem is many people think if they go for expensive phones from big companies then they have everything (that's how I was even though I'm in tech). But after careful study of the tech market, it became clear that even the smaller companies are using the same hardware components like SoCs, memory, camera and antenna technologies etc.

That's why I left mainstream phone companies.
Was a Nokia user and my last Nokia was N92. Then I moved to iPhone 4, then 5 and to 5S.

From there I changed to android, Samsung S3 then LG G2, then G3 (which I still have as emergency backup) then LG V10 (which lasted just 6 months before bootlooping).

I bought the Huawei Mate 9 in January and I've not regretted.
Right now, I'm waiting for Mate 10.

Samsung, LG, iPhone, BB are no more in my plans.

Huaweis, ZTEs, Oppos, OnePlus are all overlooked but they are good if not better due to their value for money.

First pic is the Huawei Mate 9, mocha brown
Second pic is the G3 (white) & the bootlooped V10 (black)

But Huawei just ditched the low-end market and said they'd be focusing on the premium market replete with premium prices.

The Mate 9 launched at $600 which is not far off from the launch price of all the better-known brands. LG and Samsung phones take substantial discounts a few months after their release.

I really don't dig Huawei's UI, although the other Chinese brands sure offer tremendous value. Still, the refinement is simply not there. Samsung's designs since the S6 have been off the charts, consistently. The S8 is a fashion accessory. The iPhone's performance is unrivaled. The Mate 9's camera does not hold a candle against the iPhone 7 Plus camera. The BB security and speed of updates is top-notch. And since you aren't in the country, I don't need to say much about support provided by the bigger brands.

Sure, not all of these matter to some people, but the better for being cheap narrative isn't always compelling for peeps who are not on economy drive.

Op am not sure you have learnt your lesson yet. You go hear word, I no tell you say you buy trash? Now your blaming android? SMH your problem is you. You don't know anything about smartphones your just wasting your money. IPhone 7 is cool but very limited except you jailbreak it you will come back and complain how you hate ios. Go back to Samsung, get an S8 or Oneplus 5 if you can afford it.
