No crime was committed. He should sue and make some more money. Nigeria never misses an opportunity to embarrass herself before the world.

It cost the Nigerian govt and anybody hoping to fake those 5 naira notes more than the value of the notes.

The guy probably found out that the 5 naira notes are cheaper to use in the Money Tree ceremony than even fake notes!

Meeen that would have been a wrong move cos even their gods know that the naira is worthless

i think this guy is trying to reprint the money into 50 naira...example he uses ultra uv light to eraze the prints on 5 naira then uses a high powered reprinting machine to affix 50 naira on it by this he will have 70,000 pcs of 50 naira notes worth 3.5 m cool from his 350 thousand naira

More likely they are going to print fake notes maybe the currency of another country. They have a way of cleaning the notes and then printing over it so there could be high value notes in another country using same sized paper
This could only the most logical reason.

Una never understand, the money was meant for reprinting...because of the material on which N5 is printed, it makes it valuable to forgers who can reprint more valuable currencies untop of it. grin

This is mere conjecture. As law enforcement, it is not your duty to 'foresee' a crime before it is committed, without any evidence whatsoever other than mere suspicion, and proceed to arrest somebody.

Meanwhile, the law says that you are only required to declare the amount you are traveling with if it is more than $10,000 or its Naira equivalent.

This is barbaric and shameful of us as Nigerians. It is a joke.

N300K is approximately $900. Imagine the DEA or FBI in the United States arresting a Nigerian travelling from New York to Lagos, simply because he was 'caught' with genuine $900 - in whatever denomination. How would YOU react to that?
