Five Nigerians, past and present, who have been priviledged to have won the FA Community Shield.

DANIEL AMOKACHI (Everton: 1995)

Former Super Eagles striker Daniel Amokachi was an unused substitute for Everton who pipped Blackburn Rovers 1-0 to lift the 1995 FA Community Shield.

The only goal of the game was scored by Vinny Samways in the 57th minute which secured Everton their ninth Community Shield.

Everton had won the FA Cup after beating Manchester United 1-0 in the final, while Blackburn Rovers were crowned league champions.

Amokachi was instrumental in Everton's 4-1 semi-final win against Tottenham Hotspur after coming on to score two late goals to seal qualification into the 1995 FA Cup final.

NWANKWO KANU (Arsenal: 1999)

Arsenal met treble winners Manchester United in the 1999 FA Community Shield and triumphed 2-1.

The star of the game was former Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu who was voted Man of the Match after scoring and providing an assist as Arsenal came from 1-0 down to claim victory.

Dwight Yorke had given Manchester United the lead but Kanu equalised for Arsenal from the penalty spot.

Kanu later provided the assist which Ray Parlour converted with less than 15 minutes remaining.

CELESTINE BABAYARO (Chelsea: 2000)

In 2000, Chelsea faced league champions Manchester United in the FA Community Shield courtesy of their 1-0 FA Cup win against Aston Villa.

Ex-Super Eagles defender Celestine Babayaro was in Chelsea's line-up and played the full 90 minutes.

The game ended 2-0 in favour of Chelsea thanks to goals from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Mario Melchiot.

The game was the last Community Shield tie to be played at the old Wembley Stadium before it was demolished.

MIKEL OBI (CHELSEA: 2009)

Current Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi was in the Chelsea team that defeated Manchester United 4-1 on penalties in the 2009 FA Community Shield. Regulation time ended 2-2.

Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard scored for Chelsea, while Nani and Wayne Rooney were on target for Manchester United.

Mikel who was in the starting line-up for Chelsea, was later replaced by Michael Ballack in the 65th minute.

Mikel had lost in four previous Community Shield ties (2007, 2010, 2012 and 2015)

ALEX IWOBI (Arsenal: 2015)

Arsenal edged Chelsea 1-0 in the 2015 Community Shield following a stunning left-foot strike from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Among Arsenal's substitutes was upcoming Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi who however did not play.

Victor Moses was an 82nd minute substitute for John Terry while Mikel Obi was benched throughout the game
