Hello bosses,

Sorry for the silence. I have been busy with settling down and meeting deadlines.

So, a quick update.

Got my Social Insurance Number (SIN) on friday after many persuasion from my supervisor. It is a 5 minutes process atleast in my case. So even if you dont ger to do it at your POE, you can always do it at any Service Canada office closest to you (they are everywhere).

I dont know if I mentioned this earlier, please hold enough cash when coming. This is your first time in a new location and settling down might be abit on the high side until you get stable.

For those renting apartments, usually landlords require the first and last month rent before they lease. So if your rent is 450/month, you will be required to pay 900 instantly, then subsequent rent will be monthly. Now, you see where having cash at hand is necessary. You might use your ATM, but be sure that ATM is working to avoid stories. Better still, have cash at hand for immediate needs and some in your account.

Spending tips... use discount offers if they are being offered, spend when necessary, look for items on sale (even the people wey get the land sef dey look out for discount and sales...so no go dey form).

Lastly, if you sabi bone well, you go need to adjust your face oh to accommodate smiling, because dem sabi smile well for here even for the offices.

Safe journey to those landing this week and the coming weeks.

For the TRV hopefuls, goodnews is around the corner.

@dere, @yomalicious and those delayed, I salute your never giving up spirit. God go do am.

Regards everybody,

Mazi.

I sight you oooo...our Mazi 1 of Cannyland....

Keep the info flowing

God bless you real good

Convert the cash to Canadian Dollars.

Then draw a budget...i.e; Accommodation: C$.... Monthly feeding: C$..... Transportation: C$.... etc

The gap is very wide and need explanations which must tilt and show progression. So yes, stick to a related program in sales and marketing if you've had significant work experience in it.
I graduated with a third class division in agricultural economics and extension,I want to know if I apply for a PGD in any agricultural related discipline into any college will be okay rather than to choose another course .Thanks

Hello everyone and kudos to the gurus in the house. I need urgent clarification on this scenario : the landed property document ( Deed & Survey) i want to use as one of my home ties has my middle name written as " Shola " instead of " Sola " as on my credentials and Int'l passport. My first & last name was written correctly. This mistake was made by the property company i bought the land from. Can i use these docs (Deed & Survey) or i should use The land receipt which has only my first & last name. Can these docs create unnecessary doubt in the mind of the VO ? Please advise.

Bro, i would suggest you include the survey like that. i think land surveys are the important document since they can be verified easily (dont know about the receipt tho). i dont think they would penalize u for such a trivial difference (thats if its noticed in the first place).

my opinion tho, wait for others'

Bro, have you been able to open a bank account? What type of accounts exists there? What's the best for international students?

Also which network(sim) you buy? Any peculiar reason for choosing that network?

It all depends on you. All banks offer the same kind of accounts. Which is either chequing, savings, tax free savings account or other forms of investment account. All banks are good, just choose the one you want. You can consider factors such as bonus points when using credit cards or credit card limit, if it's a free account or monthly charge account, number of transactions per month. Or you open a standard student chequing account.

Network depends on region or province rather. In Toronto you would get network like Chatr and you would pay about 40 dollars monthly for that including data and calls to Canada and USA plus unlimited text message internationally (Which is the cheapest in toronto). For some other newtworks it's higher maybe like 70/80 dollars or more. You would definitely get used to everything or get to chose the right one when u arrive.

Rgd,

Best way to save your money is to cook, or make your foods. If you keep buying, foods such as burger like 4 dollar above, Nigerian foods from naija restaurants usually like 12-15 dollars. If you buy foodstuffs, you can buy 8kg of rice for like 7 or 8 dollars, Chicken drums about 6 for like 3-8 dollars, while chicken frozen for like 4-6 dollars. It all depends on store, stores like Walmart, No frills are known to be cheap. And for things like utensils visit the store called Dollar Rama, most thing are from 1 dollar to 4 dollars max. You get your plates , towels, and other little things there. Hope this helps.

Cheers

You would need to provide your bank statements or bank statement s of your sponsor
You will possibly show proof that u have booked your flights and you would be returning
Also attach copies of the tickets you bought
It will be nice to get a letter from your school or your professor telling them that your visit is relevant to your studies
If you are the owner of the funds, possibly explain to them how u got so much funds in your account. If it's a business explain
If you are being sponsored, let them know who is sponsoring you, the sponsors account statement and how He or she is related to you
Lastly, write a strong SOP telling them why u chose Canada to visit to fulfil your history trip or tour and how it will help u academically.

My thoughts.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hello boss,

I really cannot say how many months that would last you. It depends on your spending habits.
But make e for no lost, that money suppose reach a minimum of 2 months. Just speculating but it depends on you entirely...
