Hello bosses,

Sorry for the silence. I have been busy with settling down and meeting deadlines.

So, a quick update.

Got my Social Insurance Number (SIN) on friday after many persuasion from my supervisor. It is a 5 minutes process atleast in my case. So even if you dont ger to do it at your POE, you can always do it at any Service Canada office closest to you (they are everywhere).

I dont know if I mentioned this earlier, please hold enough cash when coming. This is your first time in a new location and settling down might be abit on the high side until you get stable.

For those renting apartments, usually landlords require the first and last month rent before they lease. So if your rent is 450/month, you will be required to pay 900 instantly, then subsequent rent will be monthly. Now, you see where having cash at hand is necessary. You might use your ATM, but be sure that ATM is working to avoid stories. Better still, have cash at hand for immediate needs and some in your account.

Spending tips... use discount offers if they are being offered, spend when necessary, look for items on sale (even the people wey get the land sef dey look out for discount and sales...so no go dey form).

Lastly, if you sabi bone well, you go need to adjust your face oh to accommodate smiling, because dem sabi smile well for here even for the offices.

Safe journey to those landing this week and the coming weeks.

For the TRV hopefuls, goodnews is around the corner.

@dere, @yomalicious and those delayed, I salute your never giving up spirit. God go do am.

Regards everybody,

Mazi.

The only Mazi, I salute you sir.

Thanks for the updates so far, your type is rare. Thanks for not leaving us, still giving vital info abt the Greenland. I wish you outstanding success in your program.

Hope we can hang out when everyone of us must have settled and making sense in our respective programs.

Meanwhile, I'm a trv hopeful, awaiting medicals. So confident in my God to do mine and every hopefuls. Our applications experience a touch of favor that the VOs can't resist. We will laugh at the end.

To those, who's been approved, make una do us proud and clear road for us. I trust we'll do well in our programs.

Favor of the Lord is upon us IJN. Amen

Hello gurus, after 100days i applied for visitors visa sent the visa office in accra a mail why my application is being delayed, this is there response.
Dear Sir/ Madam, Kindly forward your enquiry to our Visa office in Lagos as application is being processed in Lagos and not here in Accra.
What does this mean?

Lagos office processes visitors visa or ABUJA (any of them), depending on where you applied from. Ghana is just for study permit not visitors visa.

Cheers

Hello my elders and gurus in the house, pls a friend needs clarification on this, he got his visa 2yrs ago without declaring he was denied US visa which was an oversight. He intends to apply for post graduate work permit in few months. He want to know whether declaring previous US refusal now won't have negative effect on the PGWP success.

Thanks
canadian visa 2 years ago seemed easier than now, so i would advise he mentions it, to avoid problems

Bro, have you been able to open a bank account? What type of accounts exists there? What's the best for international students?

Also which network(sim) you buy? Any peculiar reason for choosing that network?

Boss,

Haha, I don report oh.

Make I respond numerically

1) Yes boss. I opened an account the following day. I opened with RBC since it is the closest to me at present. Secondly, every bank has a package for new comers with valid permits ( study, work or permanent residence). At least with RBC bank, you pay 0 annual fee, a client card which you use mostly for atm cash withdrawal all across Canada and anywhere you see a plus logo (Don't worry they will explain how this works) , a prepaid virtual visa debit card for online transactions (most of us na online we dey buy things, so we need this one. Though they will ask you if you need it), a MasterCard credit card with credit limit of 1000CAD and online banking for all series of transactions.
So, when you get there ask for a new comer package. What you require to open an account is your study permit which will be given to you at your POE and your passport. If you have USD on you, they will help you exchange it too. So no fear, you dey carried.

2) I use chose videotron because they were the first I sighted when I arrived. I went there with my own phone and got the lowest package, after all wetin person want dey talk wey WhatsApp full ground. I pay 29usd monthly for unlimited Canada calls and 500MB data which is the lowest available but by the time you add tax, the bill dey shoot go up. One thing about them though is they charge for 2 months in a row when you first bill arrive. So either you go with them or freedom mobile (I might switch to them later, just checking out their packages).

I hope say I answer your questions boss?

I dey on standby sha if you get more questions... Over!

@ Austinpee4, TheSoj, Justwise and all the gurus in the house. I need your urgent opinion : the landed property document ( Deed & Survey) i want to use as one of my home ties has my middle name written as " Shola " instead of " Sola " as on my credentials and Int'l passport. My first & last name was written correctly. This mistake was made by the property company i bought the land from. Can i use these docs (Deed & Survey) or i should use The land receipt which has only my first & last name. Can these docs create unnecessary doubt in the mind of the VO ? Please advise if i can still use it considering the time required to prepare a new registered Survey and deed for the land.

Try, but don't bank on it. It's not guaranteed even with that score. Get your TRV and go to school now. If finances are really not a problem, overcoming them now sounds like the most logical step.

Is a TRV guaranteed even with the best packaged application? NO!!!

Hello boss. Your advise would be suitable if she was applying with a masters degree. Don't be surprise they may even deny him for another reason if she reapplies with the same PGD.

CRS score of 465 is more than enough to get ITA and get PR. If she can provide all documents she claimed she had at the point of calculating her CRS score, its almost certain she will get her PR.

My point exactly

Ohh, sorry about that, as a matter of openness, I have similar situation, I have been delayed in d us embassy twice which I did not include in my Canadian study application, though was delayed also, the first time, was purpose of visit and finance, 2nd time purpose and finance, though those time have not being a member of this wonderful forum, so I want to reaply soonest should I tick I was refused us visa, and won't vo raise an eyebrow? Thanks

Yes. Also tick you have been denied a Canadian Visa

Hello Jnyuwa02,

I don't agree with your suggestion. With a CRS score of 465, she is VERY sure of ITA in the next draw considering the current 'trend' if she is already in the pool. And if she can submit her EE application before September ending, ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL, she should get her PR before December. There is a great difference between paying international fees and paying domestic fees. And since she is not in a hurry, then I think the best decision is starting her EE application rather than reapplying for TRV.
