In all honesty port harcourt don't have good IVF hospitals, most of them are over hyped and unnecessarily expensive. I think Abuja and Lagos are getting it right
Seconded.but I also think follow up after transfer like drugs given could affect success rate.were u given aspirin or vasoprin?

Prof Onah of Mbanefo Hospital Enugu is really trying. I have friends that cycled on May n June n the success rates are really encouraging. May batch has 68% success out of which 10 are triplets while June has 75% success.
In all, have faith n believe in God for a successful one.
It's well with us.

I'm a guy but felt the need to drop my 2 cents.

I once had a friend who had problems getting his partner pregnant. The solution from the Doctor which worked was :-

1. They advised him to abstain from sex for 3 months to boost his sperm count. They also tactically told him not to sleep around if he was doing such - this also in order to save his semen count for his wife.

2. They told him to only wear loose fitting boxers and not Y fronts in order to keep that side cool and enhance sperm survival.

3. He was advised to take cold showers to keep that side cool.

4. They examined him and realised that he had low sperm count because the tubes that carry sperm from the testes to the urethra (the Ejaculatory ducts) were "tangled" and there was the need to carry out a medical procedure to untangle the knot in the Ejaculatory Ducts to restore the free flow of sperm from the testes to the urethra. The procedure was successful and his wife conceived shortly afterwards.

I'm not sure if the above treatment is available in Nigeria but I salute my friends bravery as I don't think there are that many Nigerian men (myself inclusive) that would comfortably allow such an invasive medical procedure to be performed near their testes.

Best Sexual Positions for Getting Pregnant
The article below says (and I've always believed this) that making love from behind (read: “doggy” style) may provide sperm with an easier path to the cervix.
https://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/best-sexual-positions-for-getting-pregnant

Daily sex keeps a man's sperm active and lively and is recommended for couples wanting a baby, according to new research.
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/daily-sex-keeps-sperm-healthy-and-improves-chance-of-pregnancy-1726197.html

I once watched a documentary about Lions (also Mammals like us) and the narrator said that the male lion copulates with the female every 30 minutes ALL NIGHT LONG during the days that the female is fertile. Its no wonder then that they have a higher conception rate than humans because they understand that they have to have sex MULTIPLE times for EVERY day that the female is fertile.

Based on the above logic of the Lion, I went a step further and told a friend whose wife is desiring to be pregnant to make sure that they do it twice a day for 30 Days in a row to see if that will work but I don't think he has followed my advice especially seeing that they each already have kids from previous relationships and so are not really desperate for that first child. But this method is worth trying as well. You just never know which method will work.

Avoiding self inflicted Low Sperm Count in guys.
It helps for guys to avoid antibiotics, pesticides, recreational drugs (marijuana, excessive alcohol), and heat exposure of the testes as when doctors are investigating Low Sperm Count, these are some of the areas they look at.

Chemical Hair Relaxers Linked To Fibroids And Infertility

Dr. Melanye Maclin, M.D.

September 9, 2014

Recent medical research reports some chemical hair processes negatively impact women’s health. A study by the American Journal of Epidemiology says the chemicals used in hair relaxers may be linked to tumors and early puberty in black women.

The study followed 23,000 African-American women and found that black women are two to three times more likely to have fibroids. Research claims that higher tumor rates may be connected to chemicals that enter the bloodstream through hair follicles, cuts or burns on a woman’s scalp.

As a national hair research dermatologist, with more than 15 years experience and reviewed nearly 70,000 African-American hair loss cases, it is clear that chronic use of chemical hair relaxers in African-American women causes hair loss, especially in the crown called “Follicular Degeneration Syndrome.” Harsh hydroxide chemicals can absorb deep into the scalp damaging the hair roots. In addition, these destructive chemicals may be absorbed into the bloodstream affecting the reproductive system.

Additional research has found a direct correlation to early menses and early puberty (before 10 years of age), uterine fibroids, and difficulty having children, as well as hysterectomy in women younger than 40 years old. Based on my multitude of chemical hair loss cases and the research studies, my recommendation is that, chemical relaxers should be avoided in females less than 16 years of age, those experiencing current hair loss or scalp issues, and women with fibroids or infertility complications.”

This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately, especially since millions of teenage and adult African-American women use chemical relaxers. It is my mission to increase awareness to protect future child bearing options.

PH Bridge clinic was too gloomy for me, plus the day i went there...all the nurses were frowning(maybe they were tired); the place was smelling FUNNY undecided undecided Abeg IVF/Infertility is a sensitive matter, i can't stand any form of negative energy. Only the Dr was shining her teeth at me(maybe cos I'm like fresh meat). i took their quote and left

I havent checked out any other IVF clinic in PH.

If you have accommodation in Lagos, i'd advice you check the very good ones there. Nothing like management in IVF matter, its your hard earned money...nonchalance is a NO, Bridge PH are there feeling funky on past glory.

Momsietwins:
don't know about the others, but I won't recommend bridge clinic, I fink they are just over hyped, n also just about the money, to me there staff are well trained n friendly, buh that's during d course of the treatment, buh, once you come out with a negative pregnancy test, the avoid you like a plaque, they don't call you afterwards, to find out how ur doing after a failed cycle, had to book 3 times just to do a review of my failed cycle, and I didn't get to see a doctor those 3times, Id spend hours der just to see a doctor, and at the end of the day I won't get to see any doctor, cos his either busy in the theatre, or attending to new customers, after a year I got to see a doctor, that cos dey thought I wanted to do another cycle with dem, immediately I got to see d doctor we discussed briefly about d failed cycle, dem gave me a bill for another cycle, asked me to repeat my test and booked me for the following month. N dey kept calling to remind me of my appointment for the new cycle. Which dey didn't do any follow up after d failed cycle. Dats y I feel dey r all about d money, dey don't care about there patients emotions after a failed cycle. Me i can't cycle with dem again, cos der charges is very expensive, struggled to pay outta my nose. For now I'm waiting on God for a miracle, and I knw he will surely do it.

Good morning mammas in the house, I have been using guifeibao, garlic and blood cleaner for vagina infection and pid, please will it work? Reply pls.
please stop using all those. I did. It does nothing. It messes up the natural balance of your body. All the things that come out are forced out of your body. Your body is a machine designed to function a certain way by God. Any by force thing just throws it out of sync. Your uterine lining shouldn't be joked with. I'm referring to guifei bao. Have no idea what blood cleaner is.
Ginger and garlic in its natural form is always good. Does a lot. Pls limit your body to natural stuff

My sister i did call him and actually went to see him at his private hospital at Uwasota. Infact i think that was my mistake, cos i was told to pick card for XYZ amount, Register for XYZ amount. After seeing him we got chatting and he gave us (Myself and hubby) a bill of more than a million naira. I think i will approach him at UBTH rather than his private clinic. Right now am on therapy and trying to correct some self inflicted defects.
mamakendra:

Please sis, have you called the Prof.
How much is the ivf and what's the procedure

For sisters based in PH, please in the name of God avoid Nobel hospital opposite NTA like a plaque, a sister said it here but I didn't adhere to her warning and circled twice there that failed, yes I know that IVF is a game of chance, but the rate of unprofessionalism in Nobel hospital is over the top.
The doctor would never ever tell you how many eggs were retrieved. The nurses are very secretive will never give you any information about your procedure, their procedures are done once in a month and on that day you will see over 30 women which include egg donors, only Doctor Casmir and one embryologist attends to these number of women.
After the retrieval they don't care if the anesthesia has left you, you will be rushed to leave the clinic to create space for the other ladies.
in a batch, there are over 20 women who circled and at the end less than 5 are successful. He tactically uses the low price of 750k that's if its low to deceive women especially those over 40years.
I am below 30yrs and did it twice there he said that he will do ICSI, but I doubt if he knows what that is.
I personally know more than 6 women who have done it there without any success. Never heard of any success story from there. I just blame my self for going through this in the hands of an unprofessional doctor who knows nothing about IVF but is in it for the money and learning on the job.
Ladies in Port Harcourt please take note

I agree with you.
I also have a first class experience of what you said.
I have a card with them, visited the hospital twice, then ran away.
At a time, they messed up my dh's semi. nal sample, and called us after 3 days to come and produce another one.
Their lab people are the most unprofessional medical personnel I have ever seen.
Imagine a lab tech asking you how you SFA sample was produced in the midst of about 4 other young IT student (I think), whether it was via inter.cou.rse or mast.
No privacy.
Professionalism, Zero.
Dr Casimir, will never disclose your results to you.
I couldn't just deal.

Hi all,

I just stumbled on this thread a few days ago while I was struggling to find information on the TTC thread. I am also a TTC and by the grace of God in the IVY process.

I am diabetic and normally use 6units insulin and 1x500mg metformin per meal. I usually eat twice. A few days after transfer I found that my FBG is higher than normal, >7•0 whereas normally 6.0 and now after meal it was so high (13.5 instead of usual 7.4) I doubled my drugs but its been reducing but only very slowly.

Is there any one here who also struggled with diabetes, gestational or mellitus, and how were you able to bring it under control.

Please ignore the moniker, I am a woman.

Many thanks

good morning ladies
am back on this thread o condition has limited me to only ivf and I am determined to get pregnant n have my babies whether d devil likes it or not

First natural pregnancy was ectopic and a ruptured tube. I lost my right tube during d battle to save my life.
After which i went for hsg n it was determined my left tube patent.
I proceeded to try naturally for 3 yrs,...nothing . Docs said dh had poor morphology n low sperm count. Had 3 cycles of ivf
First terminated after egg collection
Second bfp positive but turned out to be a chemical pregnancy . 3rd bfn . Got tired decided to do nothing
Got pregnant naturally unexpectedly. Last month
Another ectopic . Lost my left tube. Doctor tried to save it but she said it was toxic n definitely may lead to another ectopic .
So as of today no tubes . Confined to only ivf n adoption . Tired but I cant give up. Broke saving money for another ivf . Looking for another clinic. Where I will get good results. Looking for hope too. Cos am down a lot times . Looking for someone who has gone thru this n come out victorious.

Hello! i actually havent posted here in a very long time. My dear my case was very similar to yours, i lost my both tubes to ectopic pregnancies, but by the grace of God today am a proud mother of 3 beautiful children, my first daugther clocked 2yrs on the 7th of august and my twins, a boy and girl will be 2 months next week. God gave them to me thru the miracle of ivf. i have had 3 ivfs but the first wasnt sucessful, it was thru the last two that i had my children and i used Garki hospital abuja all thru. They are quite cheap, they had a promo in july, where you pay #330,000 for the procedure only then pay for drugs as you go(dnt knw if the promo is still on though). But i think outside the promo the regular charge is about four hundred and something now for the procedure and you pay for drugs as you use.

My dear sister i knw hw you feel, i have been thru that before, if anyone had told me 4 years ago that i wud be a mother of 3 children within 2 years i wudnt have believed, but God did it 4 me n am so sure he wud do it for u, He has not changed and he will never change. Just continue to look up to him and remain positive at all times. It is well with you and very soon you will carry your children. If you have any question or need my help any way feel free to ask.

@ fynebouy please u need to be careful especially during 2ww/egg transfer. Have you spoken to your doctor about the recent developments?I hope the drugs u are on didn't affect insulin level?

I know of ways to manage before the procedure like okra soaked in water,Bitter leaf drink in the morning n night, ruzu bitters etc .now u have to be careful .Please speak with your doctor.

Watch your diet.cut off sugary fruits especially now.stick to vegetables like cucumber, carrot n low/no sugary fruits like avocado etc.avoid carbohydrate.Remember your protein like fish, egg, moi moi etc.take plenty water.substitute garri for natural unripe plantain flour.

Speak positively n confess positively.if anything comes up,I will let u know.relax your mind.take your drugs diligently n pray.
