Nigeria’s Senate president, Bukola Saraki has reportedly fired his Director of Protocol, Arthur Ndiwe, Head of Administration, Mrs Folasade Adigun and 96 others to scale down the number of his aides.

According to Daily Trust, the affected aides have been issued sack letters through the office of the Chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.


With the mass sack, the Senate President’s assistants have been reduced from over 300 to a little above 200.

Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun reportedly have hundreds of aides weighing down the National Assembly.

According to the report, the Special Adviser to Saraki on legal matters, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi has also resigned.

so a senator has up to 96 aides......that's ridiculous

it is a way of reducing unemployment b4 but now he has increased it with 96 persons again

what job were they doing. Shey you know it's money for YOUR roads and YOUR hospitals and YOUR light that they are spending on moochers that add no value. Meanwhile civil servants have not been paid for a year. Think before you sell your birthright. I'm from kwara by the way.

I was, I'm earning now, I will provide food for others and be rewarded for my enterprise. What are they contributing to national wealth, nothing. If everybody collect free money who will work. How will Danny sustain.don't you get it. Free money is our problem. It encourages laziness. And you're supporting it because you want your own share. Yet all of you want to travel out to where they work hard and are enjoying their fruits of labour. Youd be funny If it weren't so sad
