I would appreciate every suggestion but I'm not interested in online stuff like betting or trading. I reside in Lagos and have a compound of my own with a 3 bedroom BQ apartment. So I would appreciate any business suggestion that I can do at home.

Any mini plant or production company that I can run at home. Also I have a pickup truck (hilux) for logistics for the business.

I don't mind being an agent to a big manufacturer or supplier as far as it's a fast consumer goods product with good turn over.

Also I am willing to pay for training on the job as far as the person has practical experience to pass across (please I don't want ebooks or 1001 laws of success. I will pay to get practical knowledge).

I wouldn't have dropped this since you specified you needed something you can do from home. However, I feel it does no harm bringing something to your notice. You can venture into any value chain in agriculture:production, storage, marketing. The harvest season for most crops is near. since you have a space of your own and a truck you can use for logistics and assuming you reside in Lagos, getting a market wouldn't be a problem if you find the right produce.

It's not healthy to have poultry in residential areas. Concerning distance, there are handful of produce you can get from people who source them directly from production areas. All you need is the right connection and good knowledge of the produce and market. It was a business I was running for my aunty sometimes ago but thanks to materialism, she ruined the whole thing. You need to be careful though cos as with every venture, it has its attendant risks.

I think you probably hadn't engaged real estate consultants. Maybe you were talking to Agents. With 5 million, its a decent capital to invest in rwak Estate with good ROI.

Master I thought 2M is too small to invest in real estate and get continual returns?

What I mean is that I don't have any other source of income now. So if I invest the money will I be having monthly returns for family upkeep?

Many people would only tell you it's lucrative without explaining the rigors involved. It can be very lucrative if properly planned and I would advise you don't put the whole money at once, test the waters with something and you can decide what to do next. While I was into it, I dealt in non perishable produce and sourced majorly from the north. Harvest is just starting for crops like melon and groundnuts but I wouldn't advise a newbie to start with those produce. Sweet potatoes and yam would be a good place to satrt but you might have to wait a little longer because those produce are still easily available in the south at this time. It's when it gets exhausted here that the ones from the north becomes gold.

You can learn baking, cakes or homemade bread. That is if you hv flare for baking. The amount is more than enough to start it in a big way. Equipment, training and raw materials.
But in the end it all boils down to what you have passion for, cause when things get tough in the biz it's your passion that'll be driving you.

A school isn't a bad idea though my area is saturated with schools and I don't think I'm good at handling a school.

Bakery and pastry is in my priority list. Just trying to convince my wife to buy the idea.

Thanks ma. I'm considering agriculture also and as you know fish farming can't be done conveniently in a populated neighbourhood.

FMCG distribution is also part of my thinking.

.Correct idea. Agriculture is something we have to look at using some techy and 21st century business perspective. I'm not ur Agro kinda person buh I have very few people making money in agro.

please sir, forget livestock farming... it's crop production baby. people have to eat thrice daily whether there's meat fish or egg on it isn't of utmost concern. u eat rice with stew. yam with stew, Eba, amala, etc with tomatoes processed into soup. despite d fact that u even buy roasted maize, etc just to chew
few people don't see these possibilities partly cos of d stain of being a farmer. call urself an AGRICULTURIST!!!

my own thoughts since u don't really wanna do something over-the-top business with high risks.
these two businesses will bring daily/weekly/monthly returns. And u also have to brand them in some amazing ways.

1. Crop production. you don't have to purchase land, u can start by having it on a lease. and the key is to always start small...so much info on this

2. Open a neat and relatively okay cafeteria around a busy place, preferably close to a main road/highway. ur food prices don't have to be xpensiv and u don't have to open with d frame of Chicken Republic on ur mind. get ladies who can cook and offer services with good enough attitudes. u knw d rest I bliv

2m shd b more than enough. and I'll advise that you don't invest more than 1.2-1.5 for a start.

I've also seen people go into palm oil production and u can sell directly to traders around u since u said ur area is filled with many producers of sachet water and bread, ur area shd have enough sellers of food items.
Iono d intricacies of palm oil production, I just thought about it now.
Mayb you'll try do some research urself

U can go into production of Nylon e.g shopping bag, packing bag for bagging pure water etc.
You can also buy machine that print on sachet water nylon since you said your area is having many Pure water factory. If you don't mind I can partner you I have the machine that print on pure water nylon while you concentrate on packing bag and shopping bag.

1. Importation of auto spare parts
2. Oil and gas
3. Transport/Haulage
4. Poultry.
All these businesses needs careful planing and management.

Boss I was thinking if one becomes a major dealer to the telecoms company and be supplying the codes or pins to others?

Barbecue stuff might not work in my place cos it's more of residential than commercial.
