Has ASUU strike yielded positive results? Yes.

Do you have another question?

BTW, no need to guess, I am an academic in a Nigerian university.
As far as I'm concerned ASUU as a body should let go for once this method of using strikes to communicate with FG because It's not really working.

Yes, TETFund and rest must have been realized but do you care to know the future of Nigerian youth being blurred due to consistent delay while in school?

It's like taking 10 steps backward to move 1 step forward. I really don't know what curse the country is suffering from but let us all know that most times we Nigerians are the architect of our own misfortune. The incumbent president of ASUU can't tell me him and his board do not forsee avoidable doom this action will cost the academic sectors in general.

Finally, let ASUU know that we the Nigerian student have been cheated of time in the past and about to be cheated again.

God bless every Nigerian student out there!!!

Shalom

If you tell me another method, I'll be sure to fight tooth, claw, talon against any future strike actions.

You correctly identified one positive outcome of previous strike actions.

but do you care to know the future of Nigerian youth being blurred due to consistent delay while in school?
Many members of ASUU were once in that same category. Yes, we also suffered due to strike actions.

The incumbent president of ASUU can't tell me him and his board do not forsee avoidable doom this action will cost the academic sectors in general.
It is not the strike that will cause this doom. It is criminal underfunding of the educational system.

Finally, let ASUU know that we the Nigerian student have been cheated of time in the past and about to be cheated again.
They know already. As I said, many of us were similarly "cheated". But we also see the progress achieved through previous strike actions. Students are highly regrettable collateral damage (and before you go nuclear and accuse me of insensitivity, know that I have been in your shoes before).

Having said all that, I do not know yet if I support this current action...this is a situation in which every category of stakeholders is as guilty as the other.

There are benefits aside the basic 400k being paid to senior lecturers/professors which includes sponsorship, allowances, bonuses, etc which I feel is enough. If not for the fact that the value of our currency is bad and inflation rate is high, it is more than enough.
I doubt. Most lecturers I see are hungry-looking. Its not enough biko.

Yes it does!! I'm a student of UNIBEN Mech Engin. first year one of our lecturers explained to us that the beautiful chairs and equipped lab was done after the last ASUU strike. I saw a picture of my brother while in this same faculty 8years ago mehn the class was bad. benches and bad board, broken windows and all of it. Today the faculty is upgraded although not to best standard but sure better than before. Retired lecturers are being owed according to ASUU. you can bash but if your dad is a retired lecturer you wouldn't.

The honest-to-God truth? Yes, all my kids are schooling in Nigeria, and none of them passed (or are passing) through high-end secondary schools. Cos I can't afford it! Not that this has any direct bearing on the strike, but I see where you're going grin

How future Nigerians will live, the quality of their lives, the kinds of employment available, the future political system, the manner in which citizens will resolve conflicts between themselves, and the country’s relationship to the global community of nations, will ultimately be determined by the content and quality of their education. University level education plays a crucial part in this.
