I wouldn't condemn ASUU for their action but as a forum of intellectual Gurus they should be informed enough to know that the country is battling very hard to survive and that the release of such huge amount of money may cripple the country. Everything is not strike! |

thundafire: GEJ paid the first installment in 2014...then oil prices crashed....then GEJ did not pay the next installment in early 2015....and PMB too could not pay due to low oil. But frankly speaking....if we were to pay....we need to borrow the money again. |

MrHistorian:Pls I do not expect you to concur with him. If you can read ASUU's publication on the agreement, the payment supposed to be made on an agreed period of years. We must all understand that investing in education is the bedrock of our development. You cannot ignore the system and think all is well. Some state universities cannot even pay salaries to staff talk less of infrastructures. How do you expect a lecturer to carry out his duties properly when hungry and frustrated. Anyways, only those who are in the system can feel the pains. |

MrHistorian: Interesting post. The present President was inaugurated in 2015. Discussions of ASUU delegates with FG(of this administration) started after confirmation of ministers(more than 6 months after inauguration). 2016 budget, FG did not consider what is owed ASUU in the budget. FG gave excuses. Now in 2017 budget, FG did not also consider them. If FG was interested, they would have included at least 20-50 billion naira. It would be a gesture, an expression of sincerity, but, no it is propaganda FG appears to do. If you want to be sincere, be so, don't be BMC. |

MrHistorian:You and Shehu are clueless of the issues. The 856b NGN is not for ASUU members. It is to be released to Universities governing councils for revitalization of Nigerian Universities. It was meant to be released in tranches, 200b NGN every year. Shehu's boss failed to release any boko in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Atleast GEJ released 200b NGN in 2013. 1 Like |

Keballl:Aha.. instead of respecting himself by being quiet, he has resorted to another baseless rhetoric to justify his lack of focus. You claim I only 'pretend' to be objective, that's fine. But at least I'm far better than a person like yourself who cant even 'act' being objective. My first comment on this thread and infact, all my comments on this thread were directed at the clown who decided to politicise ASUU matter betwrrn GEJ vs PMB... I made that clear to you severally, but since in your wisdom, you have chosen to insist you made no mistake earlier by castigating me, kindly prove this your wisdom by pointing out where I inferred (even if it's on another thread) that govt shouldnt pay ASUU. I dey wait! |

9jakohai:Besides, with memorandum of understand already in place, going into another set of agreement would be like forcing an elephant through the hole of a needle ( which demands miracle to occur). You know how stubborn both parties are. Thank God I'm free from the shackles of strike and the funny thing is how people kept telling me "it may be the will of God" all this blah blah blah. Which kind will of God would allow useless and clueless people's carelessness to instill pains to the suffering students. |

dammy13:I support the presidency on this.. The FG can not release an amount that is more than what was allocated in the budget, worst case, for arrears, after paying the arrears, what happens to the payment of salaries and university funding for the remaining fiscal year. So ASUU should be rational in their demand. |

Who supervised the spending of the #200 billion GEJ released to ASSU in 2013? Was the money properly utilised? Do we have proof that vice chancellors of public universities have not enriched themselves from the money? Who monitors the spending of public funds in this country? Why do we have government who only release huge amount of money to its parastatals without checking how it is spent? What is wrong with Nigeria sef? Bunch of people who keep suffering but cannot unite to fight what is wrong. Bunch of peple who fight one another at the expence of their development. until we unite and face our common enemy (greedy politicians, greedily established constitution that shields and favour presidnt, governor, senators, ministers etc and all people in power) we will never make progress 1 Like |

obailala: Look ! you can only deceive the gullible folks !This thread is about the nonchallant speech of the Presidential spokesman talking authoritatively over an issue neither the Acting President nor the Minister of education have expressed. What did you come here to do ? Offcourse try to snidely justify the unnecessary speech by insisting on why the past who "earned 5 times more couldn't upset the cost" I have asked you to provide verifiable data to the bold above and you have gone mute on that. |
