Glo, Federal Civil Service Collaborate On Free Access CUG Lines by Nobody: 8:15am On Aug 16, 2017
Total telecommunications solution provider, Globacom, has partnered with the Federal Civil Service to supply Free Access telephone lines to the entire Federal workforce to enhance productivity via seamless communication among ministries and the larger Nigerian populace. Programmed under a Closed User Group (CUG) platform, the lines will avail all public servants seamless yet affordable communication opportunities and will also be documented in a formal directory with the names and ministries of domicile of all public servants at the Federal level.

In an address at the unveiling of the scheme in Abuja on Monday, Globacom posited that the relationship between telecommunications and the civil service in any growing nation cannot be over-emphasized, adding that “telecommunications enable nations to improve the productivity and efficiency of their workforce because employees can deploy voice and data services to make calls, send or receive email, browse websites, conduct research, access databases or participate in conference calls,” the company added.

The network also disclosed that with the CUG arrangement, workers will also enjoy the opportunity to save precious executive time and reduce organizations’ communications equipment costs. “In addition to this, productivity, efficiency and passion for excellence are kindled owing to the fact that tedium of work is lessened, while greater results are obtained in the process”, the company said.

While adding that collaboration between employees is now one of the most important organizational activities across the globe, Globacom said on this count, “telecommunications also makes it easier for employees in different departments or remote locations to work together. Rather than spend effort booking a conference room or travelling to meetings, employees can join a video conference or Web conference from their desks,”

Head of service of the Federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita in her remarks at the event eulogized Globacom for the offer and described the brand as a truly Nigerian company whose activities reflect its deep commitment to the welfare of the populace professionally and in their personal endeavours. Mrs. Oyo-Ita promised that the civil service of the Federation will employ the CUG lines to improve on its productivity and inter-ministerial relations for the enhancement of the nation’s policy formulations and executions for the good of the entire citizenry.

The marketing department of Glo is trying, they should be given kudos in trying to hard to sell a bad product. Glo is a bad product, but I still patronize them not because of their marketing prowess but they offer me more competitive price for their data services.

Glo has a national merit award for poor data services, and network coverage they should improve on that and they would have more clients instead of using "made in naija" acronym to lobby for juicy government contracts

I still wonder why people complain about poor data service on glo especially on Nairaland. I believed this for almost a year until I subscribed on a brothers phone. I must say in all the States I have been to in recent times, Lagos, Kaduna, Maiduguri and Abeokuta, I have no regrets subscribing because it wasn't a bad experience. I even had to switch from MTN to glo at Maiduguri because mtn really sucked where I was.
Glo isn't that bad

My advice to any civil servant who will use that glo CUG line. From the word Go, don't ever load airtime on it to make out of loop calls. Glo did us something when my company was using them for CUG. Once you start to use it for outside the loop calls, that is the beginning of your troubles, they start cutting your airtime like mad, even when you didn't make call. You will load 1000 naira, in 15 minutes even without making calls, your balance will be like 300 naira.

Run away from Glo.

My Dear,

It's a pity how we bad mouth and kill ourselves, we complain they are horrible , unusable data service, stoopeed coverage , etc

Yet glo is better than the rest,

If u match cost to quality of service ratio, glo is No. 1 in Nigeria,

At least they don't cheat you, they don't short changed you,

Why not keep mum or criticize objectively

Am sure what a lot of people from different backgrounds and settings wouldn't be far from the truth, though we have some pocket of areas where their services is at least above average, it doesn't take away the fact that glo is shitty.

Sometime there months ago I was in the central mosque area for a program for over a week, I pacified myself that at least glo 3G or at most 4G would be on full throttle, I was heavily disappointed, the network crawled all through buh where I stay in Niger State is not that bad, at least I can give it average, bu what freaks me out the most on glo is that they can go off service for sometimes days in my area...

This is a huge mistake and must be avoided, Glo connection is very bad and just too bad for that matter, I love them to share this offer between various telecommunication providers so as to create room for healthy competition.

incentives alone cannot displace, but quality of service.

I think MTN is still ahead of Glo in terms of service quality.

It is an absolute shame and disgrace dat a country as big as Nigeria dat claims to b d hub of everything modern in Africa doesn't have an emergency number for emergency services for d Police and Fire service.. What exactly will it take to reach an agreement with these telcos to provide a dedicated short code for emergency services..
