Dr. Layi Fatona, Managing Director, Niger Delta Exploration & Production Ltd

Not sure if we've covered this before.
Yes, this company has been covered extensively, on page 199 and 209. NDEP not only has oil blocks, but they also wholly operates a mini-refinery at the same site, with a current slated capacity of 1,000 barrels per day, generating revenues of over USD 1 million, per month under Fatona's watch.

ODVanguard:

I'll say it again that you're arguing from a position of ignorance. I'll allow Awo himself to respond to your 'why the West of the 4 Regions' question coz even he didn't feel the state of emergency was justified, considering that other regions also had their own fair share of crises yet the central government didn't deem it fit to declare a state of emergency in any of those hotspots. Read it slowly and hopefully your ignorance would be cured once and for all.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/awos-reply-state-emergency-1962/

Awo's Reply to the State of Emergency in 1962:

(Excerpts)

“The first question which any reasonable person ought to ask himself is this. Is there a state of emergency in the Western Region? That is the most important question which the Prime Minister and the Cabinet must ask themselves. I submit with greater respect that a state of emergency does not exist in Western Nigeria. “Not long ago after independence, there was rioting of a most severe nature in the Tiv Division of Northern Nigeria.

Several lives were lost, several properties were destroyed, there was arson and a host other crimes were committed. At that time, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was the Prime Minister as he is the Prime Minister, today. He did not think it fit to call this Parliament to declare a state of emergency in the Northern Region.

Also in Okrika- there was widespread rioting in Okrika; again, several lives and properties were lost. I understand that this widespread rioting in Okrika occurred twice in the Eastern Region. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet did not think it fit on that occasion to declare a state of public emergency in the Eastern Region.

“But, because the Action Group is pursuing the normal democratic processes as laid down in our Constitution to oust someone who happens to be very close friend of the Prime Minister, and also because the Action Group is looked upon as a moral foe to the N.P.C., this very far-reaching provision of our Constitution is now being invoked, only in respect of what might be described as squabbles inside the Chamber of the Western House of Assembly. It is doing violence to our Constitution and doing violence to the construction of words to suggest that what happened in the Western House of Assembly amounts to a state of public emergency.

I think this excerpt from Baba Awo should be a common knowledge for all Omo karo ojire. It was obvious that the Northerners and the Easterners deliberately conspired against Yorubas during the first republic because of our development and success. As God will have it, both of them got at each other starting with trigger happy Igbos young soldiers killing Hausa/Fulani leaders, and Northerners soldiers retaliating during the 2nd coup. Mind you, Yoruba leaders and soldiers were not spared during the 1st coup by the Igbos and 2nd coup by the Northerners. That's why I'm surprised when I see any Omoluabi begging for unity with these 2 tribes that hate us so much.

Kpom! I hope that boy will begin to receive sense sooner than later else their kind won't hesitate to support another declaration of a state of emergency in yorubaland again today as an excuse to promote their jaundiced narrative, as if we have had anything close to the bloodletting going on in Boko haram ravaged Borno that isn't under a state of emergency, or Kaduna and kano with their recurring ethno-religious crises.

Captain Abimbola Jaiyeola made history when she became the first female helicopter captain in Nigeria, flying the Sikorsky S76 for Bristow helicopters Nigeria. She studied at Abeokuta Grammar School before proceeding to UNAAB for her first degree. She later went abroad and graduated from Bristow Academy in Florida, USA, in 2014, thereby becoming Nigeria’s first female helicopter pilot in December 2014.

About a year after she was in the news again for saving 13 lives from a helicopter crash, after deciding to have an emergency landing on water. Jaiyeola flew the ill-fated Bristow helicopter that was ditched into the Atlantic Ocean, en route Lagos from Port-Harcourt, saving the nation the gory tale of another aviation industry disaster, by taking skillful and motherly responsibility for the lives aboard that helicopter. What she did, is called "ditching" in aviation circles.

”Ditching” is a controlled emergency measure to land an aircraft on water. Skybrary.com, an aviation website, describes it as "a manoeuvre that, by definition, cannot be practiced and may be extremely hazardous. It is only contemplated when no other realistic option remains in an emergency or, in the rotary case, imminent emergency situation.” Like an aircraft engineer puts it, “Ditching an aircraft is not a joke; it requires ‘plenty’ of bravery”.

Abimbola tactically located the softest available landing spot - the ocean. The emergency notwithstanding, she did this in quite an adept manner that she did not crash, but landed as predetermined. Some others would have made a bad decision and struck the nation with tragedy. For this reason, Abimbola forever remains a heroine in the hearts of all who truly understand the dynamics of piloting an aircraft.

Captain Faith Odushola-Boegheim started flying 17 years ago, after studying in South Africa for three years. She is said to be Nigeria's first female Jet pilot. Odusola Boegheim is a fully certified airline captain on the Boeing 737. She began her career with Aero Contractors in 2002. She’s married to a pilot, and has a daughter. Growing up,her dream was to be a doctor. Being a pilot was her second choice, because her dad was a pilot. She believed her parents couldn’t afford to send her to aviation school, but apparently her father nurtured the hope that one of his kids, would follow in his footsteps. Before she knew it, he was making preparations for flying school.

‘‘Flying is memorable. Nigerian airspace has improved a lot. It’s total freedom up there and you get to be yourself. When you are on the ground you go through more stress, that you look forward to flying. For me, that’s the best part of my job. When you land, passengers come in to congratulate you and take pictures with you because you are female. The feeling of having satisfied passengers is priceless.’’

Capt. Mrs. Bolaji Agbelusi, is a well-trained pilot. Under Aero Contractors, she became the first female pilot in West Africa, to have had a flight with all-female crew, also commanded by Agbelusi. She started as a pilot with Aero Contractors, but is now with Caverton Helicopters. Bolaji has been described as smart, intelligent and stands for social justice, transformation and social development in our country.

While she was still with Aero Contractors, Agbelusi took command of the flight from Lagos at 11:55 hours and returned to Lagos, touching down at 14:28 hours to a grand reception, attended by Director General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Harold Demuren in Lagos. She is the 8th woman pilot produced in Nigeria, the 5th female captain in Nigeria aviation industry, and the first female pilot in Africa to fly an all female crew. She started nursing the ambition of flying at age seven. Married to an Anglican priest for over a decade, she still keeps her home while actively flying.

She joined Aero in 1998 as a second officer on the DHC-6n aircraft, and currently flies Bombardier Dash 8. Her Career began with her training at Versatile Aviation Inc, Ardmore , Oklahoma , USA in 1997.

On returning to Nigeria and joining AeroContractors, she was trained on the DeHaviland Twin-Otter, prior to upgrading to the Bombardier Dash 8. She was later upgraded to the position of Commander on the Dash 8.

"In our kind of environment this is certainly a difficult thing to achieve for a woman, this is an exciting and memorable day for me and my family - my husband and children - who also share in my joy", she had told journalists at her reception after the flight.

While in Aero, she did her Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) in the United States; that is a prequalification before becoming a captain, and it costs a lot of money; between $5,000 and $10,000. I urge you to stay out of what your brain is not capable of managing. The man you're quoting has three other companies to his name. He couldn't have got the contract to build that hotel if he does have anything he is doing.

Then you should have listed the three other companies instead of giving us one that is yet to open.

That would have made more sense.

You can choke your ugly face in my asss. I thought you lazy lots like crosschecking the owner. Go and do that yourself. Most Igbo's do not fancy the show off about their business. Most of the companies I have now, do not have a SEO optimization, so they're hardly found. We Igbo people are not your mate. We don't roll with the ugly imps.

In this time and age, a company that is worth it will have SEO optimisation.

It means they are no match!

Your sense of reasoning is interestingly morbid. It is now MOMAN that will determine the level of success right. Everyone knows that afonja like forming association, from pepper sellers to mechanic to welder etc. We Igbo's we don't enjoy doing that. I'm hundred percent sure it was formed by afonja. If I were to be into oil and gas ,I will never join any useless group. I'm hundred percent sure that the group with be filled with afonja from president to cleaner. You can go and kiss the truth.. We don't engage in such medieval association. we do business and not meetings.

Shattap!

Stop fooling yourself.

MOMAN means Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria. They are the major oil companies indeed. If they down tools, we shall suffer severe scarcity.

No ibo oil company can measure up to any of them!!

If you have any shame at all, you would delete this your Telaveras post, and stop trying to make a fool of yourself. Or what day did an Urhobo man, become Igbo?? shocked

Through their thread .. I have seen that these ojukus are a bunch of empty barrels and they can lie for the devil without shame..

President and CEO John Olajide.

Axxess

In 2001, John Olajide, President and CEO of Axxess, was enrolled as a telecommunications engineering student at the University of Texas in Dallas. During a visit with a family friend who was working as director of nursing at a local home healthcare agency at the time, Olajide noticed multiple un-networked computers and dated technology. As a result, Olajide began consulting with various home healthcare agencies, finding a majority of the issues at hand could be solved through technology. “My business evolved into creating technology solutions to these problems, and Axxess was born,” says Olajide.

Axxess is a home health technology company “with roots firmly embedding in consulting and software development,” states the company’s website. Axxess focuses on providing home healthcare agencies with the solutions they need to run their businesses more efficiently. “We help in every aspect of a home healthcare agency, from clinicians at the point of care with patients, to the administrative and billing,” informs Olajide. “As technology and healthcare both evolve, we are continuously developing new software and other technology solutions to help our clients work more efficiently, and to anticipate and prepare for changes.”
