Different strokes for different folks... As far as I'm concerned, 9mobile zaps the most data, followed by Airtel then MTN...The last time I used Glo to browse was May, 2016 so I can't remember how fast(or slow) they go... |

MTN are scam men. That their awufu plan of 300% for the card you load is worse than you loading your normal airtime. |

nice wirteup though but I've to say this.. it all depends on the type of phone you are using.. I've been using mtn and its okay with me. I manage my data 1k 1.5gig for a month. all I did is using opera mini, chatting on whatsapp, checking Instagram once per 2 or 3days. and I still connect with my laptop sometimes, coz my laptop is like using a phone..don't consume data at all since I've off the updates. but if u are iPhone user, or some android dat u haven't restrict some useless app, den sorry is ur case. though 1.5gig is someone small. but I have to manage myself since I'm not working yet. when money comes, den I'll be doing unlimited, using my system watching YouTube and so on, but for now. my mtn 1k 1.5gig is manageable for me for a month.. |

Ksslib:Hi Ksslib, First off, that was a witty post. You sure have writing skill. ![]() However, I want to shed light on how you can effectively manage your data. Truth is that with the advent of higher technology and thus, higher (smarter*) smart phones, data consumption on these phones would definitely be higher than what WE consumed back then. Some of the popular/common apps that have a high data consumption rate are: twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Playstore/Appstore. I'd explain in detail below how you can manage your data while using these apps. DATA USAGE GUIDE Step 1: How to reduce data usage on Facebook app. · Go to Facebook app Click the Facebook menu option · Select App settings · Select Autoplay · Click ‘Never Autoplay Videos’ - The reason for selecting ‘Never Autoplay Videos’ is to stop autoplay of videos while reading through the News feeds. - The longer you spend on the News feeds, the higher your data consumption as the Facebook app automatically downloads every image on the page. Step 2: How to reduce data usage on Instagram. · Go to Instagram app · Select Profile · Click on Menu Option · Select Cellular Data Use · Select Use Less Data - The reason for selecting ‘Use Less Data’ is to reduce the quality of videos and pictures. - The longer you spend on the Story feeds, the higher your data consumption as the Instagram app automatically downloads every image on the page. Step 3: How to reduce data usage on Whatsapp. · Go to Whatsapp · Click on the Menu button · Select Settings · Click on Data Usage · Under Media auto-download select When using mobile data · Un-check the boxes the click ok - The reason for un-checking the boxes is to reduce the amount of data used in downloading every file received· Under Call Settings check the box for Low data usage - The reason for un-checking the boxes is to reduce the amount of data used while making Whatsapp call/video. Step 4: How to reduce data usage on Google Play. · Go to Google Play · Select the Menu button · Click on Settings · Under General, select Auto-update apps · Select Do not auto-update apps or Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only - When you select Do not auto-update apps, no app will be updated automatically. - When you select Auto-update over Wi-Fi only, apps will automatically update once connected via Wi-Fi. In the event where you share data via MiFi/Hotspot connectivity, Auto-update app over Wi-Fi only should be switched to Do not auto-update apps. Thirdly, it is also important to note that doing nothing on your phone while your data is ON enables RUNNING apps on your device to connect automatically. For example, Whatsapp/Facebook/Twitter messages would drop even when you are not with your phone. Also, when you turn on your data connection, all apps that have pending internet transactions (e.g messages from social media sites) immediately drop. Thus, your data is deducted according to the volume of instant messages. This is where background data setting comes into play. If you go to your data usage settings and click on any of the apps showing the data used, you'd see data consumed listed as: Foreground and Background. Most often, background data is usually high. If you wish to turn off background data, see below. How to turn off background data. · From Menu go to Settings · Select Data usage/Data Traffic management · Click on the App · Check the Restrict background data box - This will prevent apps from running on the background when phone is not in use. However, once background data is switched off, notifications will not drop in real time and will be pended until the user accesses the app. Finally, should you/anyone have issues regarding use of MTN line, I run a customer care thread here where your issues can be addressed and resolved. I was an mtn rebound and I swear I'm in heaven right now.. The network isn't 100%. . But can I complain when I'm not spending a dime
their network is not as bad as it used to be.. I download movies of even 200mb with it.. With a few settings here nd there you're good to go.. I swear I had no idea how much I was wasting on mtn when I could have been using this all this while
