This looks really nice, but I'd like to talk about the margin on the right and left side, is it necessary? It makes the content look a bit narrow on mobile to me.

I have observed it too...on my to techno h5 it seems confined whereas on my L7 it seems OK

I will work on it. Thank u for ur critique
Is there any feature u think I should add? I am a bit free

Nice work.
Although I couldn't help but notice you used dashgum admin template, at least change the colour for originality.
Nairaland is (or at least was) built from an open source php script and since the design hasn't changed since it's inception, I'll assume it's still running on the same script.
If you goal is to build a site like nairaland, you're better off downloading open source forum scripts built on php, but if your goal is to use the project to develop in PHP, kudos to you cos you're on track.

Goodluck

To tell u the truth, I am so in love with that yellow. I can't help it. perhapa d colour/shade murdered my ghost in a previous world.. lol

Yes, I am using the project as both a learning tool and a playground to ads features I would want to see on or that NL ought to have.

I had major updates to this pet project.

1. I began using sha() encryption.

2. Implemented a pattern unlock Captcha (got the library from Paul ) for user authentication and anti Spam

3. Began using the PoshyTip Jquery library. what it essentially does is to simply pop up on mouse over/Click. U can use to load say some Flickr images by tags: Add call functions and the rest. Its pretty nice. plus there are animations to go with it. I recommend it.

And I hate this phrase-> Full Stack Developer.

its becoming irritating

A big WELL DONE for your efforts. You demonstrate determination and a level of programming skill many of our computer science graduates can't even boast of! But did you say 10 nights? How many days and nights has it been so far?

Its been two months almost, though i must admit after the initial outburst of energy (about i week and), It became an on and off thingy. Got myself embroiled in game character dev. But I have returned to working on it at nights.

Its working really, perhaps a network problem cool

Thank you so much for your encouragement. I am yet to host it properly. Looking for an investor maybe. And there are some features that are on beta and thats one of the reasons why I am yet to launch it fully.

Once I get funds and test all the twinkerings, I will give it a proper name and host it normally.

Meanwhile , I came up with this draw on a canvas Captcha

Thumbs Up MAN.

However on the JQuery stuff, users with opera mini or with lower grade phones/browsers may be unable to draw that canvas, except for advanced browsers. I just tested it.

I would suggest you come up with other captcha ideas that will be universal for all browsers, else users will get discouraged.

meanwhile I am a php web programmer and I work strictly with PDO.
Just finished coding a full-fledged school management website for my client and it will be hosted in few weeks time before school resumes

I'd like to partner with you.

He doesn't need to remove the canvas stuff because browsers don't support it, instead he can identify the browser type then maybe store it in a cookie (for performance sake) then include_once the advanced captcha for advanced browsers or the basic one for basic phones....

My apologies, but when you say sha() encryption - when sha means Secure Hashing Algorithm -, what do you mean?

If you mean hashing and you intend using this for storing passwords, I'll advice you upgrade to php5.6+ and use password_hash instead.

Reason for this can be obtained from a search for timing attacks and rainbow tables

Oh yes, i am in for a new update...

So i've been battling how to arrange my images edge to edge regardless of their pixel sizes. I tried Masonry and gritted my teeth to no avail. Don't get me wrong, Masonry is hip. Possibly the most super cool JQuery project. Afterall, Beyonce uses it in her website.

But my problem with the JavaScript option is that it relies on the window.resize event which (to me at least) always makes pages feel sluggish (even if you are hip and do the unbouncing thing).

So i went for Wookmark. Then again I heard Wookmark is a variant of Masonry or rather built ontop of masonry but it worked perfectly for me sad

You guys should check Wookmark or Isotope.

I ran into a minor hiccup, I am wondering how i can store images or image paths in a session using php?
I want to upload the image via one page and hold its temporary path in a session for use in another page

Can any one help me? Google and Stackoverflow r not that helpful.

I ought to be deploying a project with some guys but along the line ( perhaps they couldn't stand my programming delays) they hung up and left me to dry. oh well.....

So i decided to take the liberty to plug that project as a feature to my pet project.

You can't trust sessions, use cookies instead.

Well, i dont know much about storing with cookies but I managed to find a solution using sessions and to think that it was pretty simple.

Maybe as time goes on the session stuff might cause memory overloads but i will use it as it is until i advance further...

By the way i like that RESTful stuff you'd just introduce.

I am inspired to look more into it and use it in my pet project already, Now reWorkking my CRUD systems. Thanks

SO my revered critiques (whats the plural of constructive critics?) plz move over to the job search link on the project=> infobreak. and CRITIQUE as usual. I am grateful for all ya inputs....

And i discovered someting in my foraging of the internet......I FOUND A SCRIPT THAT LOOKS EXACTLY Like Nairaland. No difference, just change name and copyright. So i deduced the following:

1. Oga Seun released his work as an Open source project OR
2. He actually used the existing forum script to create NL
3. Or he just got it and modified to his whim
4. I hope i dont get banned grin
Re: 10 Nights Of Cloning Nairaland With PHP by Nobody: 5:59pm On Oct 04, 2017
That must be the Simple Machine Forum script. That's what Seun used nothing innovative, he just converted the whole to Python I guess.

Little wonder there had been no innovation since 1280BC

And yet, I wonder why we still use NL?

addiction or Nostalgia?

Whoa, hold on man... you don't need to rebuild your CRUD methods except if they're not clean. Just leave the CRUD methods to the critical aspect of the application, you can now create an API for other small plugins or modules or external applications to perform CRUD operations.
Re: 10 Nights Of Cloning Nairaland With PHP by Nobody: 1:20am On Oct 05, 2017
@kanayoNickel
It also looks as if you have a PHP file for each category... If i'm correct then the design pattern is bad. What if your mods (in future) want to create multiple categories at once?

The page content looks small on my 1980 x 1080 laptop screen...

You need to add proper finishing touches to the markup and style like padding and margin where necessary..
