fraudbad:The highlighted part isn't even part of the reason ASUU went on industrial action. The government propaganda machinery went on overdrive drumming that aspect This thread is a testament to the fact that ASUU is not ready to engage in needless banters with the FG. When they are sincere and ready, they are ready to listen and comply. |

Keballl:Lame argument. Universities are supposed not to depend 100% on government funding. This is the core reason they are always at loggerhead with government. |
| Re: ASUU Turns Down Invitation By FG For Talks by Keballl: 6:07pm On Aug 29, 2017 |
Greatgrandson:Another insincere poster. You want Universities to be self reliant yet insist on paying peanuts as tuition. The lame thought been exhibited here happens to be yours. |

I have said it countless times. There is no way the government or any government for that matter can educate all its populace through college. Our rampaging population together with economic inadequacies makes it doubly difficult. We are running an unsustainable system. Citizens must begin to take responsibility for the future of their children. There is nothing fundamentally wrong in paying for things. It creates responsibility even amongst the ignorant thoughtlesss of those who desire a qualitative, productive lifestyle. When people mock private universities and the fees they charge little do they know that it is they who are falling off the wagon with paying peanuts for what fundamentally is the last step towards a lifetime of work. They fail to see education as an investment, that is why they donot consider for a moment the number of children to have and push to the government they hardly pay taxes to. The good news is that it will only get worse. The gap between the resources of state and the demands of citizens will only widen and a time will come when the sector will be so run down, so dilapidated that it won't be worth it. Education is dying in Nigeria. Nigerians should take responsibility for the future of education and remove that burden from government. Let government's role be that of a regulator. State resources should be limited to targetted research, grants and scholarships. Government should systematically withdraw funding and simultaneously transfer autonomy over a set time period, say ten to fifteen years. That or the system will collapse soon. |

It is quite painful and annoying that when you are trying to push yourself up for a better tomorrow in this so frustrating country, some bad elements will be dragging you down instead of supporting you. Where do I go now? Work I no get, school I dey go again, shishi no dey my account/pocket and Landlord dey put fire for my yansh unto rent matter. Which kind life be this? Me right now!!!

Reference:this is the hard truth, as a university worker, it saddens me each day I go to work, in all honesty, the decay in the system is so obvious and terrible. The system can no longer be sustained by the FG. Many of us who were promoted since last year are yet to get our arears till date. The finds are simply not there, except a miracle happens, I don't see ASUU getting their demands met. |

PDP-led government reached an agreement with ASUU since 2009 and didn't implement. Am sure you agree with me that this govt inherited this non-implementation of a thing. Shame on PDP Abeg make this govt work on the implementation since it's for the common good of everybody |

Keballl:Are you sure you are in this country? The new conditions are that: The Federal Government should immediately accept payment of shortfall in salaries of universities; Universities to manage their IGR the way they like and exemption from TSA; https://www.nairaland.com/4021118/ASUU-gives-fg-6-new#59952371 |
| Re: ASUU Turns Down Invitation By FG For Talks by Keballl: 8:27am On Aug 30, 2017 |
fraudbad:That is fake news. I repeat the TSA isn't part of the reason ASUU went on strike on August 14th. I challenge you or anyone to back this claim with a valid ASUU circular. Kindly read item 4 below. https://cdn.omgvoice.com/images/2017/08/ASUU-strike-Circular-1-745x1024.jpg |
