You're absolutely right. The macro issue is grosss corruption and ineptitude. The micro issue is that Godswill Akpabio owns the state. I would say that out of the N68.9 billion Akwa Ibom received, Godswill Akpabio alone probably collected 40% to 50% of that amount through the various fraudulent schemes he setup while leaving office. The fact is that Udom Emmanuel cannot face-up or challenge anything Akpabio does because he is using Akpabio's political structure to remain Akwa Ibom Governor. Not only is Nigeria a cursed country, Akwa Ibom is specially cursed considering it remains one of the least developed state with an alarming level of poverty. Godswill Akpabio routinely brags to people that he is to Akwa Ibom what Obasanjo and IBB is to Nigeria. He wants to create the Akpabio dynasty, where he and his family members own the hospital, airport, the liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos, the private jet he bought using Akwa Ibom monies and even the Akwa Ibom state governors residence. Godswill Akpabio owns everything in Akwa Ibom and he controls the entire finances of the state; the reason why Udom Emmanuel is a non-performing lame duck. Godswill Akpabio is the pain in Akwa Ibom State's ass!!! iamchybs: 4 Likes |

Funny enough, all this wage bills, debt deduction and net amounts of a thing, many people in this thread do not understand it including me....that is why you see some people typing what they don't understand.

Your analysis is flawed. You forget to minus dependants, unemployed and senior citizens. You can't just tax everybody in a state regardless of their employment status. mrvitalis: |

PrecisionFx: Where is the nonsense you just mentioned done in the world, or you want to use Nigeria as a Guinea pig? The money you just saw can as well be invested with its proceed paid to the states as IGR, they dont need to give the FG a kobo, so why are they not taking that route? |
