NwaAmaikpe: That is not the meaning. A yoke is a device placed on/between beasts of burden to keep them together inorder to channel their individual driving or pulling capacity into one larger mechanical advantage just as a drive shaft converts power from four or more individual pistons into one rotating force or torque. The bible simply says believers should not expect an arithmentical increase in output when they pair their efforts with unbelievers. The bible wants you to understand the value of grace in spiritual achievements which will be lost when you shut God out in pairing with unbelievers. So in any relationship you undertake in pursuit of any task donot share burdens with those not enabled by grace. It simply won't work. Finally the text makes mention of 'unbelievers' not sinners. So you can be unequally yoked with a fellow christian who does not believe. |
