You won't escape from us. Barao

Social media largely monitors itself .... at least in a functional world.

I'm sure our security agencies have more pressing issues to attend to than scrolling through someone's tweets line by line.

Babangida Aliyu, that one na human being? Abeg shurrup there.

thunder scatter Buhari Insha'Allah amin

but where is omenkalives

I completely support that too. As a matter of fact I think it's long overdue since we Nigerians must abuse and overuse everything.

The major problem is unemployment and electricity, not d internet so start frm d root

when leaders are brainless ...and confused they start thinking upside down .....
a failed government dat doesnt want criticism ...

Data indicating how much African countries are asking for profiles on SM. Be careful

itsdumebi:
Former Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu has backed the government's decision to use the military to monitor all social media activities in the country.

Aliyu, who was governor of Niger from May 2007 to May 2015, noted on Sunday that Nigerians should not condemn the actions of the Federal Government, considering the fact that if some of these contents are not well monitored on social media, there is a tendency that it could be used to create religious and ethnic tension amongst Nigerians.

"I support monitoring of the social media by the security agencies to control negative stories that can influence the lives of unsuspecting subscribers to do the wrong thing they never intended to do.

You cannot say negative things about a person or an institution especially when they are false without being challenged.

Some governments close the social media or part of it when they are in crisis in order to save their countries from collapse because of people who may not understand the use of social media," he said.

Old fools thought they can deny us freedom of speech, in this modern world.
They are joking.

Cinkq:
yes it should be monitored since people are abusing it. foolish talks and coarse jest like flat..head, skulminer, cannibal, head warmers, pigs an idiots and others we are seeing everyday on nairaland and other social media platforms are the reasons i think sanity has to be brought back to the cyber world.
we human do things better when monitored. so nobody should think this move is politically inspired.

You particularly do things better when monitored not we human being.

plainol:
Does he know what social media is? frog eye.

He doesn't know, reason he supports it. Just like some of my old bosses don't know how to use computer, they kick against anything coy want us to do online like Dynamic NAV, etc.

The issue is not about monitoring social media, it should be about monitoring why we dont have constant electricity supply and why we are still unable to refine our crude oil products and make all products available without buying after 18 years of this democracy, the Nigeria government should not do anything that will stop social media otherwise there will be crises, l advice Nigeria government to make internet free and also embrace digital security by installing digital cameras in all public offices and public places as it is in the USA, UK, UAE Dubai, etc

Odianose13:
If you like monitor only nairaland, I don't care. But first let the government give Nigeria a flourishing economy and a country to be proud of. Then u can assert intelligence anywhere and we would hail and not wail.

Non corrupt government will not bother about what is said on social media.Hahahahahaha,na so last year.them ban internet,I mean cut off internet totally for Northwest and southern Cameroon.Na dem dem,
by their actions we shall know them, hahahahaha

How many pple dem go fit monitor in a day. Is it nt same social media dey used in tarnishing GEJ's govt 2 achieve d sit?...Wat goes around comes around. #KarmaIsABitch

nice info bro. They are only creating contigency plans against the next election.social media has been a strong voice of the people and the politicians want to tweak it to suit their purpose.
Just like the way the way data plan was increased.our useless leaders will even go the extra mile to even ban phones if only they had the power coz the old way of ruling really made embezzlement and looting easier for them
