Mynd44: That's the thing. The projected growth in GDP is as a result of the growth in population and not improvements in productivity or efficiency. If we reduce birthrate, our projected GDP numbers will not materialise. |
Re: The World In 2050. Nigeria's GDP Projection by aku626(m): 8:17am On Sep 08, 2017 |
It's based on population growth which is a problem for us at the moment because we can't make good use of its population no jobs or increase in infrastructure remember how buhari grounded development of infrastructure when he came in? Yeah that would have an effect on the data also corruption when there is no 0 tolerance to corruption at most, those figures might not be feasible. The G7 countries just have to adjust migration as they've infrastructure and are willing to do more, once that's done those figures would take a massive hit. |

trillville:I disagree. Our rise in GDP is due to improvement in productivity. Sectors like Agriculture and minning should help in this regards. Remember that before the renewing, we were third in Africa because industries like Entertainment was not calculated 1 Like |

But emerging economies need to enhance their institutions and their infrastructure significantly if they are to realise their long-term growth potential. According to Dr.Andrew S. Nevin, Chief Economist, PwC Nigeria: “Nigeria's potential advantages for future growth include a large consumer market, a strategic geographic location as a hub for Africa, and a young and entrepreneurial population. The first step in harnessing this opportunity requires deliberate efforts to improve value-adding activity in the non-oil economy, particularly in agriculture and services.” I believe the first comment says it all, significant infrastructural improvement, defines root causes. But the second one with all due respect is just annoying, I call it beating around the bush. |

2050 is 33yrs from now. I'll be interested in seeing the projections made 33yrs ago (1984) especially what was expected of this country Nigeria. We can then use the factor of actual achievement made to normalise today's projections for 2050. |
