PRESS RELEASE
6 DIVISION NIGERIAN ARMY INTENSIFIES OPERATIONS AGAINST CRIMINAL ELEMENTS WITHIN ITS AREA OF OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

1. In line with its constitutional mandate, barely 2 months after its formal operationalization, the 6 Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt has stepped up operations to deter various criminal acts being perpetrated within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). These operations include; Anti-Illegal Oil Bunkering, Anti-Kidnapping, Anti Robbery, Anti-Cultism, Anti- Piracy as well as Stop and Search Operations against other sundry crimes being committed against law-abiding and peace loving citizens of the Niger Delta with huge successes recorded so far.

2. Most recently on 4 September 2017, troops of 6 Division Garrison, Port Harcourt on routine Anti-Bunkering patrol to Elechi and Abonnema Wharf discovered and destroyed several quantities of suspected illegally refined Automated Gas Oil. In a similar operation conducted by troops of 29 Battalion Tactical Headquarters, Bille, Rivers State troops encountered armed illegal bunkerers short of Feropkakama a notorious bunkering site, who on sighting troops opened fire. However, the gallant troops repelled the attack and pursued the scampering criminals deep in to the creeks with many of them sustaining gun shot wounds. Unfortunately, 2 brave soldiers were wounded in action, one of them critically but both are responding positively to treatment at a military facility in Port Harcourt.

3. In another development, troops of 3 Battalion (Rear), Warri continue to dominate their AOR with the conduct of Stop and Search Operations with a view to maintaining the fragile peace that exists in the area and to identify, detect and intercept criminals, arms and ammunition within the area. This proactive measure has significantly reduced attacks on innocent communities particularly along Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja boundary, Isaba community, Mofor, Okwuokwuoko, Warri/Sapele and other notable hot spots around Warri metropolis.

4. In a follow-up operation conducted on 5 September 2017 by troops of 29 Battalion Tactical Headquarters, Bille, Rivers State to the notorious illegal bunkering site at Feropkakama Camp where the troops had an encounter the previous day, more success was recorded as troops discovered 14 Pump Action catridges, 4 empty AK 47 magazines, 8 pumping machines and several other illegal bunkering tools while a massive manhunt in conjunction with other sister security agencies is under way to track down and arrest the fleeing criminals in order to bring them to justice.

5. In a related development, troops of 130 Battalion in Harris Town, Rivers State arrested one of the notorious kidnap kingpins known as Mr David Owhor AKA Chile who along with his gang members (at large) have been terrorising innocent people along East-West Road between Port Harcourt and Choba general area. The suspect is currently in military custody making useful confessions and assisting security agencies in making tremendous progress in the investigation that will lead to the eventual arrest of other gang members.

6. The Division wishes to thank all peace loving citizens of the region particularly those that are voluntarily assisting the Command with vital and timely information that is aiding us to achieve positive results in our efforts to protect lives and properties of all citizens and create a conducive atmosphere for peaceful co-existence. The Command also wishes to restate it's commitment to crushing all forms of crime against the Niger Delta people by criminal elements within the region.

7. You are kindly requested to disseminate the above information to the general public for awareness. Thank you for your usual cooperation.

This is still my major problem on way the army handle thir operations in the Niger Delta. They should stop further destruction of farmlands and environmental degradation in the name fighting militancy. Why burning method? Why pouring those petroleum products on land and the rivers? This is harmful to the environment and fishes and aquatic life dies in the process. They are aiding oil spillage and it also causes some hard time to the navy mobility too because oil in the rivers. The Army has transport unit (S&T), this petroleum products should be converted to their use as it will also save resources. No matter how hard it is for us to accept it, Nigeria needs modular refineries. What the Army is doing now is causing more harm than good and creating more reasons for youths to take up arms in the already restive Niger Delta region. Professionalism is lacking in their modus operandi in that region. Oil war can't be won by guns and bullets. They should have won that by now. Late President Yar Adua saw the view and was on the right track before the inevitable happened.

They probably can, it’s not hard to track the manufacturer and pressure them to give up their customer in Nigeria, or next time place a tracker on the container and wait for the owner to pick it up (thinking everything went according to plan), tail them to their place of business.

Very professional.
I don't know this journalist from Adam but it is such a relief to hear Mr EFFIONG
Not only sound does he sound professional but to get the right names of the Helicopters Correct and the JETS correct is an added BONUS.
I highly recommend this video
Also based on the Video it appears that the MI-17 that was bought last year came or was upgraded to FLIR
Meaning in short to operate Day and Night.
Kudos to Air Vice Marshall Nurudeen Balogun.

NAF STRIKES BOKO HARAM BUILDINGS IN BORNO AS OPERATION RUWAN WUTA INTENSIFIES

In furtherance of the recently commenced Operation RUWAN WUTA, on 7 September 2017, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducted air interdiction on structures with 2 hoisted Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) Organization flags in Zanari, a known location with significant BHT presence at the northern fringes of Borno State bordering Lake Chad. Quite a number of BHTs had earlier been spotted, from a NAF Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance platform, entering the buildings apparently for meetings. The F-7Ni and the Alpha Jet aircraft were detailed to attack the target. Overhead the location, the target was acquired and engaged by the 2 aircraft, in rapid succession. Subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the targeted structures went up in flames, killing its occupants.

The objective of Operation RUWAN WUTA is to further degrade the capability of the BHTs thereby preventing them from regrouping to cause havoc for our surface forces. The Operation also aims at softening the ground for our surface forces to subsequently move in and conduct mopping up operations.

PRESS RELEASE

RE: HOW NIGERIA AIR FORCE'S FAILINGS ALLEGEDLY PROLONGED WAR AGAINST BOKO HARAM

1. The attention of the Defence Headquarters has been drawn to an ill motivated online publication on 7 September 2017 against the Nigerian Air Force. It was sensationally captioned “How Nigerian Air Force’s failings allegedly prolonged war against Boko Haram”, which is not true, and a deliberate misinformation of the public about the Nigerian Air Force in particular and the Armed Forces of Nigeria in general.

2. The Armed Forces of Nigeria trained and have always operated jointly to achieve set objectives under a coordinated command and control centre which is the Defence Headquarters. Against this backdrop, it is not possible for a single service or component to frustrate or derail the aim of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Therefore, the ill motivated publication against the Chief of Air Staff and the Nigerian Air Force should be disregarded.

3. It is worthy to point out clearly that, the Nigerian Air Force has lived up to its expectation in the North East, alongside the Nigerian Army and Navy for the successes recorded against Boko Haram. The Air Force like the Army and Navy were not left out of the commendation given to the Chief of Defence Staff on the fight against Boko Haram by the United States of America secretary of state, on 22 March 2017 in New York.

4. Consequently, Defence Headquarters hereby confirm to the general public that the Nigerian Air Force, has never failed in its tasks against Boko Haram Terrorists in the North East. Collectively, the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to work relentlessly to make Boko Haram activities in the North East history in record time.
