After abducting, killing and eating his girlfriend's deceased body in Mount Frere, now Kwabhaca, the 23-year-old man has been announced dead on Tuesday.

The brutal cannibal, Aphiwe Mapekula was reported dead at the Nelson Mandela Central Hospital, after resisting arrest from the police and was shot.

Sizwe Kupelo, spokesperson, Health department provincial, attested that the offender is dead.

"He was admitted to the Nelson Mandela Central Hospital after being transferred from Madzikane KaZulu Hospital with gunshot wounds, and needed emergency surgery. He, unfortunately, died in the early hours of [Tuesday] morning at about 4.35am‚" said Kupelo.

The offender supposedly abducted a 35-year-old woman revealed as Thembisa Masumpa, from the centre of the town, killed and eat her flesh after taking her to his home.

Reports revealed that the police was alerted following the issue on Saturday, where the cannibal has already cut-off her head.

The police revealed that the offender Mapekula was spotted relaxedly eating her flesh. The 23-year-old cannibal supposedly was not moved of the warning gunshots trying to refrain him from eating her and he received shots injuries in his leg, arm and abdomen, instead, he didn't stop eating her flesh.
