Fellow Nigerians, let me confess my admiration for security forces generally. It is not just because of the cleanliness and crispiness of their uniform or the famed discipline that they imbue in their members. It is because I find their job too risky. I often wonder why any man or woman would voluntarily sign his or her death warrant. For me, they appear more like suicide bombers. As a toddler in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, I remember being told by older people that “soldiers are trained to kill” and we were told to avoid them. The myth flying around included that most of them were recruited without having much education. But as I grew up, I began to acquire a special fascination for them, especially the elite squads in the Navy and the Air Force. I would later interact with many soldiers at home and abroad. I love their uniforms, jackboots and in particular their menacing guns.https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/09/16/our-dear-army-please-cool-temper/

Dele Momodu is just trying to be politically correct here. There is absolutely nothing wrong in the ongoing operation Python dance. Ipob is a terrorist organisation and they deserve the same treatment as boko haram. We all hailed Jonathan when he declared military action in the north east, we should hail Buhari for doing the same thing. No responsible government will look away while a small group is trying desperately to undermine the sovereignty of the country. Any group that attacks the police and military of a country is definitely an enemy of the country and must be so treated. |

all these reporters claiming Buhari should have ignored ipob. would be the same people criticizing him if ipob had taken weapons and become a total economic nuisance. Buhari was cleaver enough to cut them to size before they grow wings.. |

My biggest worry above all for Nigerians is that the executive branch seems pretty weak to stand up to the President. Presidents generally are power hungry and they will always overreach their executive power, which is why you need other branch of power to be able to stand up to president. Second and most important worry has to be Nigerians (nairaland) attitudes to this abuse of power. Those who sacrifice freedom for security deserves neither and it would always backfire in the long run. Where will it end? |

Did they cool down when they were attacking the Nigerian army ? Did they cool down when they were making hate speech against Yoruba and hausa? Why should the Nigerian army cool down with a terrorist organisation? |

No cooling of temper or temperature. The Army is simply performing part of its duties..... I would personally like to see how many pythons would dance...... |

This morning Hausas have opened shops in Aba and Umuahia, which shows that they are not anticipating any form of attack from the Igbos or IPOB contrary to what Yoruba media has been peddling in order to cause a rift and reprisal attacks on the Igbos resident in the North. They even claimed that 3 Northerners were killed by IPOB without any evidence and it turned out to be fake news. Igbos know that their problem is from the Yoruba controlled media which has been used to demonize them right from the civil war days, to the extent that the coup planned by Nzeogwu and Major Ademulegun as second in command was labelled an Igbo coup even though no Igbo citizens were consulted before the carried out the coup. Nnamdi Kanu got all the publicity that made him popular from Nigeria western media, they cover his every move and give it wide publicity and still pretend hat they hate him, I hope Nigerians will start seeing through this South West scheme. It was the western media that labelled the Niger Delta agitators as 'militants' which gave the Army the propaganda they needed to start a killing spree of youths in the Niger Delta asking for a fair share in their God given resources because most of the workers in the middle level are Yorubas while the Northerners own the oil blocks |
