I hope you are reading the right guide

Depending on your rom, you have to install twrp first

This is the old method I know :

Shutdown your device, then press Power + Volume Up and release. As soon as you see the Xiaomi Icon the device should boot into recovery.

But what do you want to do in recovery mode?

I want to format the phone, like the battery is giving me some headache, if i put the phone down the battery will drain up to 6% over night or any day but when am using the phone, the battery is always smooth

u can factory reset directly in the phone settings option nah!
