Abuja has same process.

As for me, i cant spend close to 5k in Abj looking for road worthiness when i can get it from Kaduna at half the price.

Doing entire docs in Abj is like 12.5k but kaduna 7.5k. Both are valid anywhere.

The increase in the cost of road worthiness is big news. Guess you’ve all heard that it is double last years cost.

But what you don’t Know is Currently, it is compulsory to make your cars available for inspection.

The new road worthiness now as a different format to getting it, unlike before.

The new look of lagos state road worthiness

Now it is required you make a payment for the type of vehicle you’re bringing for inspection. there you will be given a slip with your referral code on it. This slip covers you for a period of 30 days for you to take your car for an inspection, find out whatever is wrong with it and fix it.

Referral note
The referral note for the road worthiness

With this slip you take your car in for inspection and a final slip with be given to you, this would certify that your car is road worthy with a pass boldly written at the end.

Inspection report for road worthiness
How the inspection report for the road worthiness looks like
Please don’t fall prey of the latest scam going around ensure you renew with right organisation.
Only Lagos and FCT has the testing facility. Other state road worthiness is still legally accepted even without computerised testing. The difference is in amount charged.

In Kaduna, we pay ₦500 for testing. In Abuja, its like ₦2,500 but the actual certificate is ₦1,500 every where in Nigeria. The Abuja has one more thing i cant remember but its like ₦1000plus.

Dont forget Awka and Minna also has the facility. Those thinking of migrating to other states to get theirs is not an issue. The exercise is a civic responsibility for every citizen to ensure that their vehicles are in order to enable us have seamless traffic. The Federal Govt does not issue roadworthy certificates. It is exclusively a state matter. For me, it will reduce the Honda menace on our roads, no more leg pullout on Lagos roads. By the time the Police are fully on ground at the centers, you will not go to Sokoto to get what is in your sokoto.

I can assure you that the "Honda menace" you claim wont stop until fake parts stop coming from China.

The testing facilities are to test majorly for emissions and safety. Its unlike in the US when you have a check engine light, its an automatic fail. We dont have such strong laws.

They check tires, tire pressure, spare tire, jack, wiper blades, rear view mirrors, windscreen, lighting, illegal modification of the car etc. Road safety are already doing all that. This is just duplication of duties or at best transfer of duties.

Those rickety vehicles that carry fire wood, charcoal, market women never have documentation and would never be bothered. It is the private car owner that FRSC concern themselves with. I know that VIO do trouble some taxis and buses but still dont do a perfect job.

Lagos state should stop this nonsense. In a bid to make money off its people, they are always looking to duplicate the function of the federal govt.
The fed govt has a roadworthiness cert issued to cover the car on all nigerian roads, so why create another for just lagos. A certificate that will be useless once you drive into ogun state.
So what happens to motorists who stay outside lagos but just in lagos for a meeting, will they be impounded for not having this nonsense.
Am just waiting for the person that will clamp my car for not having it, rather than pay the fine,i will sue for damages in millions. Nonsense
So is Lagos not creating another country by default. Is this not a secessionist move. Can it enforce this, impound vehicles from other states and perhaos arrest its owners who violate (its laws). What is the Joint Tax Board saying about this.

We say no to state police but have the Hisbah operating in some northern states and all manner of paramilitary organisations all around Nigeria with real powers to apprehend, disrupt and even incarcerate Nigerians.

We say we are a non religious, circular democracy but we have sharia laws they say are for adherents to the faith.

When we say restructure so that these things can be understood, negotiated, mutually accepted and made lawful. But the hypocrisy in us will not allow that simply because we want Nigeria laws to hold others back while we need our own laws to forge ahead. We want to have our cake and eat it. We need the security of Nigeria but not the responsibility towards our fellow men.

These are the fault lines of injustice that cause unnecessary turbulence in this country, that makes this entity called a nation unworkable and we will continue to burn resources and shed blood needlessly from time to time to keep it from imploding.

The new procedure entails you get a referral letter that directs you to the inspection centres. If you were not given, request for it and get your vehicles inspected as it inclusive of the fees you've paid.

The Lagos State Government is committed to the safety of its citizens. If everyone is committed to vehicle safety, there will be less carnage on the roads and lesser griefs caused by defective vehicles on the highway. It is our responsibility to support the government to help reduce breakdowns, accidents and fatalities on the highways.

At the last count, it was discovered that many vehicles failed because of light defects. This has nothing to do with roads. This is why we encourage every one to be more proactive in imbibing safety rules and little things like ensuring your vehicle lighting system is in order might be the lifesaver to prevent accidents on the roads.

I agree that we need to to live long and the Governor has been proactive and shown enough support to make sure that can be achieved. Let's applaud his commitment and support it as good citizens of the state to make the system work.

Everyone who makes laws say the same thing. And I agree, you cannot have a progressive society without proactive laws. That is why we advocate for the decoupling of instruments of state. My grouse is the hypocrisy with which it is being done. No one rolled out tanks when Lagos decided it needed new Local Government Councils. The law operated and Federal might prevailed. Instead they were called Local Government Authorities. Today states including Lagos have all sorts of laws and edicts tjat run contrary to the Federal Republic but no one says they are wrong. If you have been there, you will understand better. They check the headlamps with a device to know if it is properly focused , they put the car on a spinning machine that determines the suspension , alignment and the braking power. The Range Rover I took there failed because of bushings issues. Does it mean the Honda menace only occurs after using China Parts or before?

At every Lagos State computerised vehicle inspection service centre, a vehicle is checked for emission, lights, alignment, suspension, brakes efficiency and underneath inspection to check the axles, chassis and chassis attachments. All these is to ascertain the condition of the vehicle.
And this is for every vehicle that comes in to the centre. Don't also forget that some people might resist change but at the end, when they see the benefits, they"ll eventually accept it.

If we think this way, there will be no room to improve. I can personally share experiences I have gathered of "poor" people being victims of their own choices. A man decides to drive his car knowing fully well the brakes are bad, who should be blamed if he ends up injuring someone on the highway? This is not about rules for the rich or the poor. The roads are shared by all irrespective of social class strata.

I think the best way to go about this is to make sure that we don't err on the wrong side, especially where lives and properties are concerned. Afterall, when the vehicle is inspected, you will know if there are faults with the vehicles. At that point, it's not about the rich, it is about you and other road users safety.
Re: Photo Of The New Lagos Road Worthiness Certificate Issued Last Week Friday. by abikerichard: 11:20am On Sep 19, 2017
One good thing about the computerised vehicle inspection is that it is a leveller. Everyone wants to feel safe in their vehicles. So everyone has the obligation to ensure that it works.

What a waste of time and resources for a document that will expire in 6 months. Another avenue for our crooked police to collect money from vehicle owners. How many danfos will obtain this document. When there are no jobs, no good road, no light, no food and everything is expensive one idiot sit down to design this rubbish.

Is the Range Rover you took there not better than 99% of the molue buses on Lagos roads. How many of those buses will be denied road worthiness and taken off the road? Meanwhile, private cars of law abiding citizens like yourself will be declared non roadworthy.

Secondly, if your car failed, please tell me your car is not roadworthy and you were denied the certificate. If you got the certificate after failing the test, then the scheme has already failed.

Thirdly, if those test are to be taken seriously, 90% of cars on Nigerian roads will be declared non roadworthy.

As far as am concern, the mistake has been made. I dont see any commitment to see this thing work. I expected them to make appropriate laws regarding roadworthiness, make sure all states have multiple testing centres, then launch the program at once with enlightenment.

At this time, VIO should be ready to impound cars that are structurally damage (those with welded or rusted chasis etc). They should set up forfieture laws, and demolition yards.

Thats the point am trying to make. Besides, corruption will not let it work.
