I can relate to this.
I have been there and not even one invite came through but now all that has changed since I got my current job April last year the offers have been steadily streaming in and guess what I don't even post pictures there safe that I updated my profile...
The blue chips have their scouts scurrying ever corner of LinkedIn looking for people with catchy profile to snap up whilst ignoring the up and coming who in my opinion are the ones who should really be looked at.
Unemployment is really not as big an issue as underemployment..
The biggest problem with most of the unemployed is not the want of opportunities but unemployability.
Keep at what you're doing brother... You will smile sooner than you think.

the way so many people hype linkedin, dey make it seem as if once you have an attractive profile and showcase your skills, you will have job with Shell or Chevron.
fa fa fawuuul. no lie. yes, there are some cases here and there where people get jobs via LinkedIn, but those cases are very very few, say 2% . it's not that easy.

People still get jobs via Linkedin. Personally, I've been contacted by recruiters through Linkedin asking me to send my CV to them, after going through my profile. I did an online interview with Diageo recently, after their HR asked for my CV on Linkedin.

LinkedIn is of more value to highly skilled professionals.

I got my present job in a LNG plant in the US through linkedIn. I was contacted by a recruiter who looked up my profile and he organized a telephone interview with the company. Long and short, I got the job and relocated to Texas, USA.

Yes and no! In Nigeria, I think it is an advantage in special skill sets as the people you're associating with are your colleagues in Nigeria and around the world, in other over saturated disciplines it makes only a little difference
