I tell everyone who cares to listen that public universities are on their way to becoming irrelevant as far ad acquiring quality university education is concerned in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, the university labour unions are oblivious to this fact. They'd rather always exchange the future of public university education in Nigeria for a little incentive from government, while the governing councils and university administrations mismanage the meagre funds from government.

The truth is that in many private universities, 1 billion naira will accomplish what 10 billion naira cannot do in so many public universities.

I will advise people of my generation to start saving massively for private university education of our children. We attended public schools from primary to tertiary level with high standard of education, unfortunately our children can't get the same. Sad still, some hopeless folks don't want this country restructured.

Admit it or not, private universities have come to stay and are really giving the govt institutions a run for their money.

Nigeria needs to up his game.
same way govt secondary schools have lost relevance

Who told you there is no freedom in private universities. Secular private universities aren't the same as faith based universities. And Elizade is a secular institution.

I totally disagree with you man, my first degree was done in a state university, Masters was completed in a top federal university and PhD in view nearing completion in same federal university. I make bold to say it that i did not receive the type of quality teaching we give students at Elizade university. I just returned from SIWES inspection and I must say I am quite impressed with the comments and reports from their industry supervisors. Private universities is definitely taking over...

NB - I hope you all know that Harvard is a private university ?
