Good day every one. Am happy I found this thread and hopeful I will get answers I seak.
I recently gained admission into Bachelor degree 4yrs program in Memorial University and Memorial University English program school. The English program was recommended for me by the school since I seak admission without English test proof. I have to complete the six months English program to continue my bachelor program fully.
My questions :
1. Would my age be a barrier for applying for degree program having completed hnd and since am 29yrs of age?

2. Can a non related person stand as sponsor for you. I mean a close family friend but is very wealthy and is ready to sign any required form and provide any proof?

3. Must I have sufficient funds in my account even when I have a sponsor?

4. How best can I apply for visa?

Kindly help and advice if you can.

Please I really pick interest in your post and got captured by the Charterd accountant part.
Am on my final level with ican and I recently learn about the Charterd professional accountant. Can you help me with your mail so we can speak outside NL. I think I have lots to gain from your experience.

Please bro.
ayooluwatoni:

I disagree sir. CIC has promised to process EE applications within 6 months, and they've been doing that. I do not mean some applications don't exceed that processing time, just as some study permit applications also exceed the normal processing time, but it is not as tough as people paint it to be. And the scores are dropping too. They selected as low as 433 a few weeks ago. I understand it used to take a very long time before now, but it takes just 6 months or less mow.

Our people should start thinking of other ways to come to Canada. Why should someone with 5 years or more experience in a NOC A or O struggle with study permit application when you could just write English exam, get your credentials assessed and apply for EE?

Are you also aware you could get an employer-specific work permit if you intend to work for yourself in Canada. That is, if you intend to establish your own business in Canada. This route is for creative minds. And the good news is you don't even need to show some crazy funds, and it is pretty straight forward. So if you have some money to start up a small business here, and you are industrious and have the entrepreneurial spirit, why struggle with study permit?

Are you also aware you could come to Canada as a PR if you have at least two years experience in some kinds of business of your own. Businesses that promote Canada's cultural and traditional heritage. For instance a visual and/or graphics artist, a performing art person, etc.

Although I speak of what I know and have personally witnessed, and not what I heard or read from some thread, but please don't take my words for it, do your due diligence, all the information you need is on CIC site. READ, READ AND READ!!!

The thing with Canada is, they want people, in fact they need people. They just want a quality and fair immigration process. They want those coming for studies to study, those coming for work to work and those coming to Live to live. They don't want people to cheat on the immigration system. Every month CIC invites thousands of people to apply for PR through EE. They reduce the scores and do all sort, just to attract people. Look for what fits your situation and go for it.

Professionals like accountants can come to Canada on a study permit through professional bodies. For instance, accountants can come for Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) program. Some of these professional bodies are designated by CIC to accept international students, and the truth is, without such designations, you wouldn't be able to climb up your professional ladder to the very top, to make cool dollars. So it's like killing 2 birds with just 1 stone.

Information is key to coming to Canada and also succeeding in Canada. Get the right information.

Sorry I didn't give the long post warning...............I didn't intend to write this much. Just thought there would be less people applying for study permits if people have good information and know other (better) ways of coming to Canada. It would benefit them and also benefit those who have no other means of coming to Canada aside through study permits. Study permit processing time would reduce, the scrutiny would reduce as well. So in the end it would be a win-win, everyone would be happy.

1. Well, age shouldn't be a barrier to education but cic for purpose I will strongly suggest you consider applying with a PGD or a Master's admission. You could also consider the EE route if you've got some work experience.

2. Definitely, it all boil down to your sponsor showing strong commitment.

3. Even though it's not a requisite, they might expect you to have some funds/investments especially if you've been working all this while.

4. Pretty easy, get admitted and launch your application either via the online route (if it still exists) or the paper application.

Best of luck!

Is there any information on how to secure an external funding available on this platform for someone with admission?

I currently have an admission but would like to obtain a student aid or scholarship.

NB: mine is a coursework... MSc.

I am expecting your response.

You can prove ties without family, business and land. Sometimes statements you make on your letter of explanation, a VO may be convinced you would return. That is how scholarship recipients who have no spouse children or landed document to show, meet the tie requirement. They are automatically viewed as bright and promising and the most likely to come back to their homelands and make a difference. All it requires is convincing the VO. You won't know what is possible until you go through it. Don't be discouraged. Be strong! Go for it! Do your best and leave the rest to God's infinite wisdom and plans for you.
I want to super like this post! All my siblings that got their study TRVs didn't have business or land. In fact, two didn't have any funds of their own or full-time employment (they did freelance work and provided lots of verifiable proof to the VO).

It is completely true that ties aren't just things like land and a business. Even if you have such ties, your ambition as expressed on your SOP and throughout the rest of your application (especially if other evidence in your application buttress said narrative) is your most powerful weapon.

On several GCMS notes I saw the VO write "applicant has not shown enough social, professional, economic, or family ties to home country". Social, professional, and economic ties can be strongly demonstrated by your professional ambition & passions and any evidence to buttress how you have (and by extension intend to) use those passions in Nigeria.

Btw: this is not to discourage adding land docs, and fat account statements, or business ties or family ties o! If you don't include any of this, then your application better be spectacular.

Wow, this writing is quite spectacular! I think you said it more than me. This is the holy grail and I hope people are taking notes. If nothing said more on this forum, I think this should be the end of the learning. Baba TheSoj has spoken!!

Why not exercise more patience and work harder to maintain your current grade till you finish, read up information here as well as on google for your preferred course and then when the time comes, it will be an easy sail for you. You still have a year to complete your program. You will need to excel very well in your concluding year to also give you a great chance to secure admission in Canada. So focus on that, find useful info for your intended program in Canada and when the tine comes, you will get all the help you need.

Yes there is a remedy. My funding letter came out August 22, but I applied June 6th. I sent it through the case specific enquiry system and it was added toy file. If it is very important like u said, and u are not to comfortable mailing. Withdraw asap and reapply. But CSE and their email will be very sufficient I think. Cos CSE will added it to ur processed file anywere world wide. Just get to link your app on line first. Then send CSE with explanation to support it.

Hello boss,

You should use google.

Only you know your strengths and the key words to use in your search.

When you are done searching, you can bring the list of schools here for people to analyse and advice you.
