We can always agree to disagree or disagree to agree. We both want what's best for our people and that may put us on opposing ends at times.

you edited. Scroll up this page, some urhobos here have admitted -- reluctantly -- that there are clans in orogun which speak non-urhobo dialect.

Dialectal changes and influences do not mean they dissociate themselves from their ethnic groups.

The Kiagbodo-Ijaw people speak Urhobo far more than Ijaw but that doesn't make them Urhobo people.
You're still listening to the band of disorganized choir revving in your biggoted head.

I didn't say orogun isn't urhobo

My friend didn't say orogun isn't urhobo.

We all know that for whatever reasons they claim they ARE NOT. born and bred in Warri, we know they are little cracks in okpe and orogun areas who deny their roots as you would find elsewhere in other tribes.

Use the screenshots as a guide. My question to my friend was " WHICH PART OF URHOBO DEY ALWAYS SAY DEM NO BE URHOBO"?

In other words, which part of urhobo is denying its root!
It is self-explanatory.

And yet you seem to forget HOW the Itsekiri and Anioma became governors in the first place...

I pity you, truly. Get well soon.
Mr Ignoramus, the only beneficiary of Urhobo block votes was Ibori.Uduaghans "victory" was a pyrrhic one ,some say Ogboru even won. However I can tell you for free that Sunny Omene,Edevbie and the leadership of Urhobo Progress Union worked tirelessly against this present governor from the primaries to the governorship elections proper. Some known Ijaw persons provided Okowa with the financial war chest which he used to defeat the Urhobo candidate (David Edevbie) hence Okowa compensated them by picking Otuaro as his running mate/ now deputy governor. The few Urhobo votes that Okowa got were actually courtesy of the efforts of the loyal members of the Ibori political family who decided to stick to their 2007 agreement (I guess you are ignorant about that too ).So Okowa got block votes from his Anioma base, from the Ijaws and Itsekiris while the Urhobo votes were split between O'tega Emerhor, Great Ogboru and Ifeanyi Okowa so please crawl back into that hole of ignorance you brought your stupid self out from

We itsekiris will resist any deliberate action to sidetrack us in the scheme of things. We refuse to be in such state where we are further prone to marginalization and oppression. The urhobos have not stated what this hope to solve... Shouldn't they involve stakeholders of Itsekiri kingdom? Or don't they think every tribe has its own view on state creation?

AGBARHO— MEMBERS of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, from the Urhobo ethnic nationality in Delta and Bayelsa states, have called for the creation of New Delta State , covering the present Delta Central and Delta South senatorial districts, as recommended by the 2014 National Conference.

At a meeting in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state, to review the forum’s activities, Urhobo- PANDEF members, who also passed a vote of confidence on Chief Edwin Clark, urged the Federal Government to expeditiously attend to the 16-point agenda of PANDEF.

They said: “We support the creation of more states, especially New Delta State , to encompass the present Delta Central and Delta South senatorial zones as recommended by the 2014 National Conference.”

The gathering, presided over by eminent Niger Delta leader, Professor G. G. Darah, had in attendance Professors S. W. E. Iboje, Temi Akporonor, A. S. Akpotor, Atare Otite, Victor Jike, Chief Emmanuel Okumagba, Chief Raphael Okene, Chief George Ugen, Chief Westham Adehor, Chief Ruth Timothy, Dr. Sunny Awhefeada, Mr. Peter Darah, among others. Professor Darah commended the group for convincing youths to lay down arms for dialogue, attributing the gradual economic stability being experienced by the nation to PANDEF’s intervention.

They resolved that oil companies operating in Urhobo land should move their headquarters to the area, while pipeline surveillance and security contracts for oil facilities in Urhobo land should be awarded to the Urhobo people.

And has the National domination by Hausa-Fulani people been any better?

I do agree with you that every state should be constituted by those of same ethnicities. However, the Urhobos, Ijaws and Itsekiris have been living together for ages now and Urhobos have not dominated the others. In fact, quite the contrary, Urhobo is dominated by others, mostly the Itsekiri, who claim to own the entire Warri river region.
frathermathy I have been following your write-ups on nairaland and I must commend you for representing urhobo.. that's by the way..
if anioma state should be created it will remain in SS.. it should not be across the Niger and termed SE... if core easterners need any state it would be constituted from our 5 states Ie Etiti state...we also have adada, Aba, Njaba states as prepositions..

u guys can keep anioma... we no need them now.

Fantastic point bro
This is a ploy by some power hungry Urhobo to dominate the Itsekiri
Students of Delta history and politics still remember the acrimony that existed between the Urhobo and Itsekiri when they clamoured for i.e. a Delta state without an Anioma, how they were at each other's throats over where to site the state capital, this was why IBB delivered the master stroke of not creating a separate Anioma state but lumped them with the Urhobos,Ijaws and Itsekiris in what is now the present Delta state but sited the capital in Asaba to assuage the Aniomas.
Some of these funny Urhobo characters giving every other person a bad name have never hidden their disdain for the other tribes in the state especially the Anioma and Itsekiri, however they didn't mind as long as one of us ( Ibori) was governor ,but as soon as an Itsekiri (Uduaghan) became governor, they developed headache, and alas it appears now an Anioma ( Okowa) is governor, they are having heart attacks .
They better beware lest they die for nothing cos personally I see nothing wrong with this present arrangement and the Itsekiris will never allow it happen, they'd rather ask foe another separate state
Pls don't forget that, it is the influence of the urhobo that makes the immediate past governor and present governors won their election.

Well my position is indifferent on the subject matter.

But we shud ask ourselves some questions
1. How have state creation improved the state of the geographical space called Nigeria since 1960?
2. Will creation of more states improve thr Current situation of the country?

Even tho i wasn't born during the pre civil war era i still think we shud go back to the regional phase but with alot of amendments and restructuring

Thank you
State creation is just mere duplication & waste of scarce resources.

We need a regional system. Local councils should have more power. No need for many state executives and the horde of commissioners, tens/hundreds of SSAs & SAs. bureaucracies, etc.

In countries where things work, you can apply for your international passport, id cards and most documents at your local council office. They forward to central system & you collect it locally. Some federal documents are even issued locally. Governance should come to grassroots.

All the tribal big men want to be governors or their kids to get plum state govt jobs.

Many states are unsustainable right now and on FG life support machine. We need fewer, not more states.

Whether we like it or not, people in current Edo & Delta have a lot in common culturally, historically & linguistically. Even Anioma are not that far culturally. It is only since Biafra war that Anioma has been increasingly pushed into Igbo. Yes they are Igbo, Western Igbo but their ethnicity was never an issue to Benin, Urhobo, Esan, Itsekiri, Isoko, Afemai or other people. In fact Anioma in Bendel ensured strong affinity between Bendel & Igbo generally.

I still remember in Diaspora a few short decades back when a core Igbo person would send an Anioma person to me with a phrase like " your Bendel brother down the road can help you, ask for XYZ when you get there".

Urhobo people should know better. They are the largest tribe in Delta and have dominated Delta politics since 1991. Yet it has not made every Urhibo person rich, only a new elite has emerged. Another State be it New Delta or even Urhobo Sate cannot change much. If New Delta is created, then the very communities hosting the most oil wells within the new state will demand for more share of oil money. And the cycle will continue.

We just need a better & sustainable political structure. When things begin to work for ordinary citizens, these incessant agitations will be minimal. But that won't favour the current political elite of Nigeria. So we are stuck.

Regional advisory - Avoid all travel

Global Affairs Canada advises against all travel to :

the northern and Middle Belt states of Borno, Gombe, Yobe, Kano, Adamawa, Kaduna, Bauchi and Plateau due to the high risk of terrorism, inter-communal violence and kidnapping;
the Niger Delta states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, Anambra, and Rivers (with the exception of the capital city Port Harcourt where we advise against non-essential travel), due to the unstable security situation and the heightened risk of kidnapping.
See Safety and security for more information.

Travel Health Notice - Zika virus

The Public Health Agency of Canada has issued advice for travellers on the Zika virus, recommending that Canadians practice special health precautions while travelling in affected countries. Pregnant women and those considering becoming pregnant should avoid travel to Nigeria. See Health for more information.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all travel to:

Borno State
Yobe State
Adamawa State
Gombe State
riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States
within 20km of the border with Niger in Zamfara State

The UK FCO advise against all but essential travel to:

Bauchi State
Zamfara State
Kano State
Kaduna State
Jigawa State
Katsina State
Kogi State
within 20km of the border with Niger in Sokoto and Kebbi States
Non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers State
Abia State
Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Nigeria. Most attacks occur in the north east, particularly in Borno (including central Maiduguri and along access routes connecting the city to other major towns), Yobe, Adamawa and Gombe States. There have also been significant attacks in Kano, Kaduna, Jos and Bauchi States and in the capital Abuja.

Attacks could be indiscriminate and could affect western interests as well as places visited by tourists. Major towns and cities remain particularly at risk, including Kano, Kaduna and Abuja as the federal capital. You should avoid places where crowds gather, including religious gatherings and insecure spaces like places of worship, markets, shopping malls, hotels, bars, restaurants, transport hubs and camps for displaced people. See Terrorism

There’s a high threat of kidnap throughout Nigeria. Recent terrorist kidnaps have occurred mostly in northern Nigeria, but could occur anywhere. There are reports that Boko Haram is actively planning to kidnap foreigners, including in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state, along the Kumshe-Banki axis.

There’s a high threat of terrorist kidnapping in areas where there is a Boko Haram presence or Islamic State West Africa (ISWA). As well as north east Nigeria, this is believed to include some northern and middle belt states including Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Kaduna, Niger and Adamawa states.

If you’re working or travelling in areas where there is a Boko Haram presence, especially in the north-east of Nigeria, you should be aware of the risk of terrorist kidnap. There is a high threat of criminal kidnap in the Niger Delta region and Kogi state. Kidnaps can be for financial or political gain, and can be motivated by criminality or terrorism. See Terrorism and Criminal Kidnaps

You should be aware of your surroundings and avoid large crowds and public demonstrations as they can turn violent unexpectedly and at short notice. Follow news reports and be alert to developments. If you become aware of any nearby unrest or disturbances, you should leave the area immediately. Violent crime is common.

The Department of State warns. citizens of the risks of travel to Nigeria and recommends that U.S. citizens avoid all but essential travel to [b]Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Kano, and Yobe
states because the security situation in northeast Nigeria remains fluid and unpredictable. Very poor transportation infrastructure also makes it difficult for the U.S. Mission to provide consular services in these states. All U.S. citizens should have evacuation plans that do not solely rely on U.S. government assistance. Due to the risk of kidnappings, robberies, and other armed attacks, U.S. citizens should also avoid all but essential travel to: Bayelsa, Delta, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.

See reasoning. Instead of downsizing the govt and reducing the number of states this ones are clamoring for more states? If Bihari had been smart he would get rid of the state's and consolidate them into regions: 6 of them to be exact but this clowns are clamoring for more states?? And they claim to be professors?
