The urhobos have not stated what this hope to solve... Shouldn't they involve stakeholders of Itsekiri kingdom? Or don't they think every tribe has its own view on state creation?

I admire itsekiri. A tribe so small in numbers and being neighbours with urhobos and ijaws in a tribal sensitive country like Nigeria, they faced the risks of being rendered insignificant politically and culturally.

If you ask me Biafra is not the way forward, look at the stupid differences between us where we don't acknowledge ourselves as one, how will we survive Biafra, but ultimately it's in the hands of the people hence the call for referendum, I would prefer a confederal system with a weak centre in charge of the military and foreign affairs, with the states or regions as it may be, be responsible for its economic growth and development, internal peace and security with full resource control while paying royalty to the centre.

This will not happen in Nigeria but it is definitely achievable in an Igbo Republic.

I agree totally. Without prejudice to the good people of Delta North, those of us in Delta South and Central share more in common and should ideally be the ones to constitute a state, with a capital within the region.

Anioma State should be created and zoned to the SE for equity to reign.

I also agree that the oil companies should move their headquarters to the region. It is simply logical to locate the headquarters of an oil company in an oil producing region.

Very correct. Remember also that Anioma were also advocating for a state alongside us before Delta was created.

As for the location of headquarters, I support it too BUT our youths and leaders have to show that our land is investment friendly. Youth restiveness has been one major reason or at least a major excuse for the Oil companies siting headquarters outside the Delta.

I totally agree with your points, you can't separate Urhobo from isoko and itsekiri, so I think they should allow us get our own state and let Delta north go with SE since they are always crying of marginalization, my point is that this is not the best time for this now.

2. Will creation of more states improve thr Current situation of the country?

Owerri petition writing specialists have cornered 99% of development projects in Imo ,yet ask for closure of other projects outside Owerri, and get them relocated to Owerri.

Owerri has used every governor of Imo state sotay, we have two giant cities in Owerri, with all federal housing allocations, six universities and polytechnics in Imo located in Owerri. Meanwhile, Orlu and Okigwe that were nearly on the same level of urbanization with Owerri in 1976 when Owerri was named capital, still remain with nothing.

May any dream about Owerri and Orlu still remaining in the same state when new states are created be cancelled now IJN.

I know that Itsekiris have some rough edges with Urhobos but it is simply not enough to warrant what is visible on this thread. Me am from Anioma in Delta state, partly Isoko though. I don't see myself as an Igbo person so Anioma state can be created, but must not be zoned under SE we are south south, and for those of you who think the Urhobos are the largest ethnic group, think again.

Anioma is 6,400 square kilometer. So, it's bigger than Urhobo, Lagos or Anambra.

That was a shameful agitation, because at the end of the day Delta North which is minority in present Delta State will then emerged as a full state [proposed Anioma] with 3 senators, whereas Urhobo who are the majority in present Delta State will end up still sharing a state [proposed New Delta] with other tribes and will have just one or two senators. Is that progress? Urhobo alone with its abundant human and natural resources is large enough and even overdue to have a state of her own. Urhobo landmass [approx. 5000 sq.km] alone is bigger than that of present Lagos State [3345 sq.km] and Anambra State [4844 sq. km]. Urhobo need to wake up and take their rightful place in Nigeria [progress]!
