Your assertion is wrong and you know it.

When your phones cannot survive 3 years, your batteries cannot survive a year, your display is inferior, and your hardware becomes irredemable after the very first damage then its no longer an "assertion", it becomes FACT.

I don't see how my cash is being grabbed or being forced to use more than one apple product.

I don't need iTunes to play music neither do I use MacBook to move files.

The reliability you get in Apple products is top notch.

I have used Tecno Devices way longer than that.

I know someone on NL who is in his sixth year....

So much for being a fact.

I prefer iOS, but it pretty expensive to get n most app are paid for.
Re: Bill Gates Switches To Android Phone, Dumps Windows Phone by GreatrAnalyst: 5:09pm On Sep 27, 2017
Not that really. The Power of Android is in the fact that it is an open source and it is being championed by the giant called Google as a company. Being an open source, it is opened to many contributions and modifications. Samsung, infinix, Gionee, Techno, just name it.
Microsoft is a latecomer to a mobile market already saturated by the influence of Android.
By the way, Android clocked 9 years this month.

i knew dat window phone would never compete with android os phones in market....because of some certain things they failed to add while developin window 8 os for phones..nd dat actually made ppl runaway from window phones but window 10 phones are way beta nd reasonable than window 8 nd 8.1

are you his secretary?

Gates is supposed to stick by his product(s) until the very end (which we're not there yet imo), despite winning with PDAs/tablets before anyone heard of iPhone/iPad and Android, despite the fact that much hasnt changed since.

How are they losing??!! I've had Windows Phone since the Titan II (Windows 7) and I STILL remain baffled at how bad Microsoft is losing in mobile. As if theyre so fragmented as a company that they dont know how to leverage gains in desktop (Windows/Office), gaming (Xbox), and cloud (Azure) to game-change in mobile, convince those who remain and convince those who they have abandoned with one lifecycle crappy devices. It is as if they're new to mobile which, as I mentioned above, theyre not. But now this idiot is proud to announce that he's an Android.

There's too much dullardism in this generation, where one is proud to be defeated. I'm sure Microsft'll find some strategy in their growing defeat, looking towards Obama/Android phones as Hope and Change as he has.

No I am not his secretary.

Technology changes, especially in IT. The main market product of 1992 is not the same one today. Android has the largest market share in the smartphone OS market. Windows tried to market both OS and phone and they lost. Nokia Symbian OS was hot stuff at some point, where is it today? That's how tech business works. A personal decision by Mr. Gates should not affect the Windows phone market, if it was good enough. Personally, I think Windows 10 was awesome. The iPhone X used ideas from it and BB OS 10 for its interface (multitasking et al). But they (microsoft mobile) already had a bad name in the market when it was launched. A 1% market share is not what a company would like to stick till the end with. Why do you think HTC sold to Google? However, you are right in some sense. If they had stuck with Windows 10 for long enough, I think it would have caught traction. But then look at the competition, a king of aesthetics (iPhone and iOS) and a king of the market (android) along side the kinsmen of smartphone innovation (Samsung, Sony, Huawei and friends).

Tech hasn't radically changed since the 90s, only the natural course of Moore's law. Microsoft was winning with the desktop market in the 90s and guess what, they're still winning in desktop, steady holding on to a comfortable lead. Microsoft also enjoyed market dominance with PDAs/pocket PCs (also known as "smartphone" which came soon after) and other handhelds in the 90s.

Technology that is "smart" is where many would argue technology has radically changed, but it really hasn't in the last 25 years. Apple was always there to compete as usual.

suggesting that radical changes in (mobile) tech caused Microsoft to drop from near market dominance to less than 1% of mobile market is disingenuous and inexcusable, worsened by the fact Gates is now embracing competition whose device isn't much different than Microsoft's phone. They're not trying anymore, Gates is a confirmed idio.t

A bad market name is a very difficult thing to resurrect from. Internet Explorer became Microsoft Edge but... grin . HMD Global is struggling to live up to Nokia's name, because of the mud it has gotten in the market. Mr. Gates has put his mind to philanthropic causes and is hardly focused on developing technology these days. I think Microsoft is scared that what they did to other companies (IBM, Lotus, e.t.c) will be done to them. So they are focused on that fear.
My take though, is that their branding is weak in a certain sense. Apple's power lies not just in the quality of its products, but in its branding. Hence the tablet score against Microsoft. I can't even begin to imagine what they'd have done if they were the ones who made the Table PC. Samsung works the same formula for their smartphone market. What is the secret behind growing a 'tech cult'? Their answer should lie in there. I agree with you on two things though. They stopped trying and Mr. Gates' announcement was disheartening. But insulting the guy is just... That PlayStore thing sha grin Be like say na true o

You think it's only disheartening to me??

Imagine how Microsoft's current team of Windows phone engineers would feel after learning that their founder and face of the company would rather have the phone from a direct competitor. YES, GATES IS AN ABSOLUTE MOR.ON FOR MAKING SUCH A REVELATION.

I can't see Gates being an idiot for no reason, there has to be a reason. One can only imagine that Gates would commit such a foolish act as a tease to some sort of Google partnership or buyout of Windows Phone.

The Windows Phone market has already collapsed. "A good name is better than riches". It is already a failed project. Talk about MMM. No amount of rebranding (that would be cost effective. Heck even if they use cash excessively...) can fix MMM back into the financial market as a dominating institution. Steve Jobs performed a miracle with Apple when he was called back. But there was only one Steve. He brought his new company (Next computers) which already had a growing market, back into Apple and that saved them from total disaster. Even Google has failed projects too. Microsoft has always been an aggressive competitor, they are not just used to loosing.
