Bolustical:I don't dignify tribalists like you both within and without my kinsmen but I'd like to set the record straight for you. I am IGBO and I am ashamed of my tribesmen who go out there disgracing themselves not us. However, have you known any IGBO leader peddling drugs? With all due respect to the JAGABAN, but was a drug lord (not just a peddler). What of Kashamu? The YORUBA nation is a great one and I LOVE the people but when you run up making it a one-sided thing, check yourself. The North would have been a perfect example of a tribe low in crime but for their EXTREME religious intolerance. |

aonag:You got me laughing hard with your comment. I agree with everything you said. Quora is repleted with smart folks with astonishing erudition. The site is my go-to spot for well analyzed - and researched - answers to questions. I just hope these our naija brothers don't reduce the site to a pitiable state like Nairaland. |

Nigeria don't really have many problems but one problem which is equal or greater than hundreds of problems which is our politicians, the day we are able to get rid of these greedy corrupt leaders the day this country will experience an awesome growth. I still stand for one united Nigeria with justice and equity |

BackToLife:This issue of zoning leaders to a particular geographical location at a particular time is in my own opinion a very stupid one. Isn't it better we take the best leader from whatever tribe he/she might come from? Won't that benefit Nigeria and Nigerians? |

Abudu2000:Who told you Ghanaian languages are few ![]() I laugh ![]() Ghana seems more United than Nigeria because of Nkrumah. He unified the country, making every Ghanaian think as Ghanaian first. But our own founding fathers polarized us instead. Ghanaians inter marry A LOT, and have been doing so for decades, so the offspring has to identify as Ghanaian first, but in Nigeria ![]() Then lastly,,an average Ghanaian speaks two local languages, but in Nigeria ![]() |

Nigerians are good or bad, thanks to my Southerners and some middle belters for giving Nigeria the image she bears. As for the political class and the parasites up north , nobody would've heard anything good about nigeria . |

chineduemmao:Simply put; it means you are what people think you are. It does not matter what you think of yourself, it does matter however how people see you. I do not mean a select group but the generality of people. This is important because of the fact that us as individual depend on others. A good example is a situation where policemen stand in the middle of traffic demanding bribe with no consequences. What do you think someone from switzerland would think of Nigerians since a policeman can do that confidently and no one arrests him/her? Meanwhile the same Nigerians who claim to be good people, do nothing about it but cry foul when the outside world call them corrupt. Bill clinton is one of the most successful presidents in America's history but the first thing people think of when his name is brought up is a womanizing philanderer. His successes are an after thought. This is why one has to be very careful about one's image and how we portray ourselves. |

banmee:Its true that a very public opinion about someone has a greater potential to shape how people will treat the person than his or her own perception of self, but its way too outta line to say "you are what they say you are". Not true! and this is where we are contradicting. since people are bound to fault whatever you do why depend on their opinion? |
| Re: What Some Americans Think Of Nigeria And Nigerians (Screenshots) by banmee(m): 5:55pm On Sep 29, 2017 |
chineduemmao:You are confusing faults with character. A fault is an error that happens occasionally and is seen as that which is then corrected. How can you say a policeman standing in the middle of traffic confidently collecting bribe in full view of everyone a fault? And let's say for argument sake it is a fault; why has it not been corrected? It is what it is. That Nigerians are predominantly corrupt. If it were not so, that scenario would have been corrected a long time ago. You can only be comfortable with what you are. You will never see that in America. Not saying that there is no corruption or crime in America but you know damn sure a policeman does not have the guts to stand in public to collect bribe. |

BackToLife:I can't help but wonder why we keep harping upon the fact that the hausa /fulani have ruled Nigeria for a very long time and have this born to rule mentality. Even if they do, they still have an edge over other major tribes. You ask why? The reason is simple and not too far-fetched. In so far as Nigeria keeps practicing democracy (i don't see that changing any time soon), the hausa/fulani would still control national politics. This is simply because politics and democracy are games of numbers. The north has about 19 states for crying out loud!!!! And yes, they do have the population size to go with it. The average northerner will marry more than one wife and give birth to at least 5 kids. This cuts across both socioeconomic divides as it involves both rich and poor, educated and poorly educated people. In addition, they almost always support their own, unlike other tribes in Nigeria. If the south and west want to catch up, they must match them in population number. If not, i don't see an end in sight to the northern rule except if.................. |
