Kenyans are our brothers no doubt. This thread has opened our eyes to many faults in our various countries. Muafrika2, mtis and other kenyans are welcome to continue this debate. But, i repeat but....no useless black mofo from a country called south-africa should join the debate, you black south africans are not ashame of yourselves. Yea, i agree. South africa looks beautiful than kenya and my country but 98% of the works were done by your white-masters. Black South africans are the only sect of people that will be slaves for eternity, even sango can't save you. Nigerians comes to your country, we work and dominate in your own zulu land. Instead of you to cry to your white-masters to give you your freedom, you instead result to xenophobia. Xenophobia will not drive us from your country but instead we will flock your country and get every of those jobs you were supposed to be given. God knows why Mark visited only kenya and Nigeria, SA please leave this thread. Fvck you guys. |

A new victims of crime survey by Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) has found that sexual offences, including rape, increased by 117% in the last financial year. A total of 50 883 people reported being a victim of a sexual offence, of which 31 817 were women. The Victims of Crime Survey for 2016/2017, for which 30 000 households across all nine provinces were interviewed, was released on Thursday in Pretoria. StatsSA said however that estimates for hijackings and sexual offences should be used cautiously because they fell under "second level of quality" in terms of acceptable statistics. The survey put the 2016/2017 murder rate for men and women at 16 201, an 8% increase compared to the previous year. It also found that women-headed households were more than twice as likely to experience murder than households headed by men in South Africa. "This percentage of victimised households is more than twice the corresponding percentage in the case of male-headed households," the survey stated.Statistician-general Pali Lehohla said 25 households reported that people in their households had been victims of murder in the last year. White-headed households happier with police Meanwhile, 59.9% of white-headed households were content with the police response compared to 33.3% of black-headed households. Institute for Security Studies crime hub manager Lizette Lancaster said this was most likely because of the different levels of service delivery within the different areas of the country and their racial demographics. "We know that traditionally there are more police stations in the so-called suburbs and those police stations cater for smaller populations than police stations in so-called townships," she said. Bucking the trend is the decrease in home robberies, housebreakings and theft of personal property. Personal property likely to be stolen includes cellphones at 84%, money at 51.3% and bank cards at 17.5%. |

shervydman:Those negative figures from what I can see are only measuring the budget deficit. It has no reflection on the actual monetary size of the budget. Also, while I can see the sense in the question of measuring the dollar value of Kenya's currency and Nigeria's, I'd still say its application here is low. We're not comparing Nigeria to Norway here where the price of a beer might be almost 10 times higher than in Nigeria. It's Nigeria and Kenya: two African 3rd world nations. Many things are costlier in Nigeria than Kenya. Many analysts have pointed out Nigeria's road construction industry is one mega scam. Our costs per km of road are some of the highest in the world. The same applies to bridges, tunnels, flyovers etc. Just read the absurd figures that were quoted for Fashola's Ikoyi link bridge, Kwankwaso's Kano flyover and compare the cost of the rail project in Lagos with countries like Tanzania, Ethiopia and even Kenya. Nigeria has some of the highest cement prices in the world. So there's no fair metric to objectively measure what Kenya's budget can do compared to Nigeria's. As I pointed out earlier, several analysts of our budgets have pointed out how abysmally low it is and how it can accomplish next to nothing. At a minimum, every country should be looking at at least 10% of its GDP as budget. Many countries are higher as 20% like Kenya. The US runs a $4 trillion budget from a GDP just over £18 trillion. We can't even hit 5%. |

shervydman:Dude, the links you're posting are of Budget deficit. Nigeria's budget deficit is bigger than Kenya's. It simply means Kenya is more capable of funding it's budget than Nigeria yet has a bigger budget than Nigeria. Gives me more reason to doubt your GDP figures. |

Jidesam01: My bad... You're definitely right... So the only surviving city (Nairobi) in the whole of Kenya doesn't even have GDP... Lagos is even too much... We should be using Rivers, Ogun or Oyo state. |

samsobo24:Lagos GDP (The cooked one) = $91 B, Lagos population estimate = 17 - 21 billion Nairobi GDP = $39 B, Nairobi population estimate 5 - 6 million. With a population 4 times that of Nairobi, Lagos has a GDP only slightly above twice that of Nairobi. See? That's it now. You can't compare the richest part of Nigeria to the whole of Kenya. If you have to do comparisons compare the richest to the richest. Nairobi has a disproportionate higher GDP in comparison to other sections of Kenya just like Lagos to Nigeria. See, I can't use the fact that Nairobi GDP is almost as big as the entire Ghana's to claim Ghana is way poorer than Kenya. |
