Help On Wire Transfer by Nobody: 4:38pm On Apr 16, 2015
I need help from experts on wire transfer.
A friend from the US sent money to my UBA account last week Thursday. He sent me a document issued by his bank for wire transfer as proof of payment through email. The document is called SWIFT copy. Now UBA is requesting another document called telex message before they can track and verify the payment. I told my friend and he said telex message is a document used during the 1990s by banks. He said banks in the US now use SWIFT copy for wire transfers and his bank cannot issue telex message.

I don't know if any one has faced similar challenges. I need urgent help. Thanks

i don't know why they are requesting such or is it a new way of receiving wire transfer payments.since you gave your friend the wire transfer details, i don't think any other doucment is needed.everything should be sorted out by your bank to receive it.what kind of account are you using to receive the wire transfer

Whether they call it telex or swift copy, it is the same content information that Access and GTBank do give me for sending and receiving bank wire transfers. I hope you are not just asking your branch from those uninformed staff. You'd better communicated with your head office or central customer service.

Not really, but I've had alot to do with interbank transfers/transactions.Courtesy years of trading currencies. Anyways thats talk for another day.

So get the corresponding bank sort code and transaction ID and make it easier to track.

You however mentioned ur local account is not a dorm account. They'll have issues with it ooo. Open a dorm account so that they can transfer the money there.

Lols, my own Don pass one week o. Have anyone here used any of those International banks? I heard Citibank and Standard Chartered have quality wire transfer services. The only problem Na their minimum account opening balance way be #60k. If anyone here has used their service, share your experience. If it is good, it will be nice for business

Between$50-$100. You can however withdraw it all later. To run a dorm, you'll need two refrees with at least running a current account or dorm acc in same bank or other banks. A utility bill and a valid ID. I think that should b it. Then within 5 working days they'll open a dorm for you.

Usually between 2 and 5 business (working) days. For someone who mentioned that you should get code, I think you only need a correspondent bank sort code if your bank uses correspondent bank.

I asked UBAs customer service about the info contained in the telex message but they refused to tell me. I wanted to collect the info from the sender

Impossible except you are sending from a naira account if it's a CBN approved payment that your bank is sending out of your Naira account.
