It could be a bug with the rom. Or he could delete the fingerprint and set again

You can also enable Developer options and disable miui optimization there.

Tell your friend to delete the fingerprints and re-authenticate, do a factory reset or reinstall the ROM.

am mine to extract the files from zip folder after the rename? am getting error of it can't verify update. u are allow to flash the newest develop version by MIUI forum from stable version only

Good morning. Don't extract the files and be sure the network is good for smooth verification. If it still couldn't verify, it must be an error while downloading. I once had similar experience which I believe was due to interruptions while downloading (I eventually used Opera Mini).
I upgraded to MIUI9 Dev from miui8 8.5.8 stable ROM without unlocking bootloader/rooting.

Bros, I learnt the hard way when I lost my files due to still unidentified cause recently. Since then, I upload my documents (pictures and text files like PDF and all Microsoft Office files; no video except it's not above 50mb) to Google drive. If the size is above 100MB, I upload at night

Morning. i used phone initially to download, i later use pc to download and renamed the file as instructed. am still having same error shocked
