Ojukwu really thought he was an hero, thanks to the stupidity and low IQ of his people, he almost went away with it. But when it really mattered, the people let him down as you've rightly pointed out. The Pigs and Idiots refused to vote for him for a just reason: how can a man who so much hated Nigeria, fought a war that starved and killed millions of his people, then ran like a coward that he is with tails inbetween his legs to Ivory Coast now come back years later wanting to be president of that same country? He wasn't impeached, he resigned voluntarily. His oga (the then governor, Orji Uzor) tried everything to have him impeached but couldn't succeed. fact is that it would have been easier for the governor to be impeached than for Abaribe to be impeached because the Ngwa people, together with Ukwa-Ngwa had more people in the house than any other part of the state.

Later on, some ugly development made him throw in the towel and resigned. But he is still a force to reckon with, I respected him when he withdrew from the governorship race to allow his kinsman run undistracted and returned to the senate.
