You are so smart, payment for any service = buying.
Whether it is salvation, massage or bag of rice.

Every money in circulation is already taxed, by your logic
nobody deserves to be taxed because someone has already paid
the tax.

Think!
All the churches I know,
Salvation is free.
Have u seen anybody officially paying for it?
If u see, go there and collect your tax.

And I also hope u now know the meaning of income

Good. So take it that the churches are in bankrupt state by default.
And also businesses are bankrupt by default. lmao

And by the way, is the govt ready for the extra responsibility of bail out of such organisation if bankruptcy becomes perennially recurrent?
I think not
still non-sequitor: organisations that makes profit, pay taxes. if your organisations falls within that class then the needful is needed

Because nobody will come after you with digger that is why you will carry pictures of pastors for your ill motive thread. Why not carry the pictures of imans or better still why not ask if mosques should be taxed? God is watching you big time.

The people donating money to church have already payed tax.
You cant tax contribution of tax payers who have already payed tax.

Try to reason it properly. Ok
only the government has the vecto power to accept tax so let the churches gather it and hand it over to the government

Yes oo. They have to be taxed. Before you judge I am a Christian but the way these pastors milk people dry these days made me stop churching. Infact mosques should not be taxed but Churches should pay tax from the whole funds they milk off their gullible members...just imagine a church University being the most expensive and it's the same members that built it...yes Churches should pay taxes afterall even the Bible say that you should acknowledge govt too.
No mind some idiots wey no no say this men na con artist..Church for Nigeria na business

What I don't get is why people have a problem with what other people do with their own money. You did not contribute to a cause yet you are asking for accountability. If you believe you are free and not like others who are brainwashed then why not enjoy your freedom in silence? No one talks about the poor pastors or the ones who ensure the poor members are fed. Why not open your own charity organization and ask for donations too? Trust me a lot of people will give.

Money received as donations, freewill givings, tithes etc should not be taxed as that would amount to double taxation (the original giver would have already been taxed). However, income from church businesses such as expensive universities, executive jet leasing, printing presses etc should be taxed.

Yes it is. You must not call somebody a fool before you know it is an insult. Insults can come in any form, including ignoring somebody can be a form of insult. You had no right to call anyone gullible because you despise their beliefs systems.

Any profit making ventures attached to them should be. It's a criminal offense to "dodge" tax once you are in business. Even Jesus paid tax.

Maybe u dnt understand what the individual is trying to say. Let me explain.
A govt worker always has his tax deducted from his income by the govt. If that worker is a christain he may decide to pay his tithe or give freewill offering frm his remaining at his place of worship. The church cannot pay tax frm that same contribution since that has been handled in the first place by the govt. Simply generalised that to every christain worshipper.
Secondly a church is a non profit organisation just like an orphanage or a voluntary organisation since the general aim is not to make profit. If a leader decides to buy jets, erect mansions with the church funds then the church in particular has the sole right to either question the leader or let it pass. The management or mismanagement of church fund just like every other non profit org.has absolutely nothing to do with the govt.
Tithe.
Offering, etc.

Are all income. All income are taxable.

All churches are registered in Nigeria's corporate affairs commission. Go figure.

Yeah you are right; church money received from donations, offerings, tithes etc should not be taxed cos that would amount to double taxation. But church income received from mega businesses like expensive universities, executive jet leasing, printing presses etc should be taxed.
Re: Should Nigerian Churches Be Taxed By The Government? Share Your Opinion by Nobody: 10:47am On Oct 05, 2017
Churches should start paying tax cos all we see they do is buying cars, private jets, private schools which has nothing to do with the gospel.

Your question and subsequent comments on this thread is laughable and this is why. Government doesn’t regulate the Church. It doesn’t pick favorites by providing subsidies to one church but not another. No one is taxed.

Starting up a church does not require government approval. No civil rights laws affect hiring or services (minimum wage is determined by the church and not government).

Government does not audit churches. It does not keep a register of religious groups. There is no “Nigerian Ministry of Religion” that subsidizes or regulates religion. Churches do not even file the same paperwork that other types of nonprofits submit as a means to provide transparency to the public.

Let me itemise it

1. Government can’t pick some churches to tax and regulate but not others (in the case of prosperity preaching churches or preachers). It must practice benevolent neutrality.

2. If we tax churches, then we will need to tax all not-for-profit organizations.

3. To tax churches, government would need to have the (currently unconstitutional) authority to audit and regulate churches. Our constitution as a nation prohibits this and so your OP is nullified.

4. Taxation would benefit large churches and ministries and harm smaller ones

5. It wouldn’t solve the problem and this is why.
If we tax churches, then churches will do what other businesses do. They will increase expenditures in order to reduce taxable income. FYI, income is revenue minus expenditures.

The prosperity ministries million dollar income? That’s an expense!

What they spend on church programmes and Crusades and charities? That's An expense!

The private jet to travel for business? That's Another expense!

Once the expenses deliberately increase there won’t be any income to tax. grin

God is wise cheesy
