Am not speaking to you on d basis of being a pastor, but on d bases of being a Christian

am honouring God with what he has given by sowing to his church, simple!!, what his servants in charge of that church does with the money is between them and God!!!

God acknowledges my giving and blesses me for

itsimple!!!!!!!

is it that hard to understand ?

see am a very successful individual all thanks 100% to God, and i pay my tithe with joy and happiness without anybody asking me to

I can pay my tithe or sow to church or to institutions or organizations propagating the gospel of christ, or to NGOs and missions as am being led.

The laws of sowing and reaping is real my brother

The bible also encourages us to do so (cos financeis need for the advancement of the kingdom)

THE GOD THAT ADMONISHED US TO TITHE IS NOT STUPID

so am not tithing based on what a pastor said, but on what God says

and if you say am a fool (like millions of other people in the world who also tithe)

then you are calling God the most wisest, most glorious, most loving, most powerfull, most kind, most loving, most holy, foolish

but if you are a born again christian and you grow spiritually to some certain extents you will understand better

there are two things in life Man's freewill and God's sovereignty.
It is not about outbursts of emotions.
What I have asked you is not what you are answering. Provide where God said Christians should submit 10% of their money to a Gentile Bishop. And where Jesus, Peter and Paul ordered for that same % from Christians.

In any case, you have never paid tithe in your life.
Parading 10% of your wages before your Gentile Papa Daddy is not tithe. All you ever gave is offering and you can give any percent under no compulsion or command. Moreover, justification does not come from your offerings regardless of the percentage, but from your faith and unwavering belief in the completed works of Jesus. There is no tithe laws for Christians. Goodbye.

Lazy Christians always use the bible to mean they not under the laws of God, no duty nothing, we can do whatever we like... Living a life of impunity, no different from the few wolves masquerading as Pastors.. If you have no duty as a Christian, I wonder what you are... Many rascals Christians doing, saying, acting anyhow. Speaking against God's ministers the way they like.. As if God put their judgement in your hands.. Whatever measure you are using to judge.. You will get more in your own case.. As if you are clean.. Smh!
The truth is bitter. Even if Jesus Himself came today and criticized your pastors the way He criticized the Pharisees, you would all stone Him to death.

Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. (Matt 23:34)

No one is talking about justification by fauth with you, and am noy saying justification comes by tithing but ....

proverbs 3 vs 9 -10 says

"Honour the Lord with your wealth, and the first fruit of all your crops and your barn will be filled with over flowing, and your Vats will brim over with new wine"

If the world and everything in it truly belong to the Lord, why wouldn’t this principle be true?

This isn’t the only time that the Lord promises his people that he’ll reward generosity with plenty (Deut. 15:10; Prov. 11:25; Malachi 3:8–12).

The challenge is that one must have the faith to give sacrificially to see if the Lord keeps his word.

The robbing of God (Mal. 3:8–9)Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me.
But you say, “How have we robbed you?” In your tithes and contributions.
You are cursed with a curse, for youare robbing me, the whole nation of you"

for further study....

-Testing God in the tithe (Mal.3:10–12)

-Giving in secret (Matt. 6:1–4)

-The faithful giver (Mark 12:41–44)

-.Tithing and justice (Luke 11:42)

- Tithing and pride (Luke 18:9–14)

In the end, tithing wasn’t something God's people did in the same way we mindlessly toss a gratuity down with our bill at a restaurant.

It was an intentional practice through which God intended to teach his people about his sovereign ownership of everything.

Instead of being consumers of their blessings, they had to stop and think through just how much blessing they had.

Through the tithe, God took care of his people—and through the act of generous giving, God continues to bless his people.

Thanks and God bless you.

What sort of Pastor are you? The type that juggles Bible passages just because a word you liked appeared there. Luke 11:42 and Luke 18: 9-14 have tithe, any search engine can give you that but the search engines will not check the context for you. A simple study on those passages will tell you that it is even an indictment on Jewish customs.
Pastor Ade, in your bid to preach money gospel or make money you have assumed yourself to be a Pharisee sect member to whom those passages were addressed. Unfortunately, you can't be a Pharisee Jew and a Christian at the same time. Let's even assume you have become a Pharisee (although, it is not possible because first you must have descended from Israel) and you are obliged to keep all the laws including tithe, have you gone to check exactly how the Jews gave tithe?

For umpteenth time, Malachi was not addressed to Christians but to Levite Priests mainly and the Jews, the premise was Mosaic laws which they have transgressed.
Now Sir, provide where God said Christians by law should submit 10% of their money to a Gentile Bishop. And where Jesus, Peter and Paul ordered for that same percentage from Christians. Cite a place in the Bible where it was made a commandment for Christians and where the many Churches founded by the Apostles observed this Law.

We should not tithe because tithing in the New Testament is not the standard for giving.

Many churches promote a concept called “storehouse” tithing, based on Malachi 3:10, where God tells Israel to “bring the whole tithe into the storehouse.” They teach that the local church is the storehouse, the tithe belongs to God, and His blessing is conditioned upon faithfulness in tithing. This is pure lie. Blessings from God is absolutely free and an unmerited favor based on Christ sacrifice, it is not tied to any tithing.

Tithing concept was a part of the law of Moses; believers are not under that law anymore with the coming of Christ.
Romans, Galatians, and other New Testament passages make it clear that Christians are not under the law of Moses, we are under the law of Christ (1 Cor. 9:20-21; James 1:25; 2:8, 12; Rom. 13:8-10). Jesus Christ never gave nor took tithe, and he never spoke about it. The New
Testament did not give guidelines on tithing.

Generous grace giving is the New Testament standard. Our God is a generous and giving God for He so loved the world that He gave the most precious gift, His only begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ for free so that we can be saved.

Give generously to the poor, the needy and the have not, "not to Pastors", so that God will favor and bless you. Stop giving your hard earned money to Pastors for their new Air planes, exotic cars, and to give their children the best life overseas.

Guy for d umpteenth time, i am not a pastor, but a Christian

First, let's look at the defintion and purpose of the tithe.

The main principle behind tithing and giving is the fact that what we do with our money shows where our heart is.

Matthew 6:21 says "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

When we are able to give 10% or more of our income instead of keeping that money for ourselves, it shows that our heart isn't tied to our money and that welove God more than our money.

The Bible mentions money over 800 times and of all of Jesus' parables, more than half of them talked about money. Why? Because that is where so many people get tripped up! When we are able to release at least 10% of our income back to God, our money doesn't have as tight of a hold on us because we realize that God is in control of our finances. We remember that everything we have has been given to us by Him.

Even though most of us probably work for the money we make each month, even God has his hand there - He has given us the ability to do our jobs. Many who grasp what God has truly given them seem to agree that 10% doesn't even feel like enough!

Is Tithing Mandatory?

some people find issue with idea of tithing being "mandatory" or "required" - as if it is something that keeps believers in bondage.

But do God's standards really keep us in bondage? Just like God tells us to keep sex within marriage, to love one another and to seek first His kingdom, tithing is a blessing to our lives and something that will help better our lives (as well as help the lives of others).

We are not saved by works, thus failing to tithe will not necessarily send you to hell, but doing so will help improve your life and strengthen your relationship with God.

I personally don't believe that God will curse us if we don't tithe, but I do believe He will help us escape the curse that is already in the world if we do.

Old Testament vs. New Testament

Tithing Practices Whether the tithe is only for Old Testament or if it is also included in the New Testament is probably the most debated issue.

The scripture most frequently referenced regarding the tithe is indeed in the Old Testament (Malachi 3:10-12), but the tithe is also referenced in the New Testament. In Matthew 23:23, Jesus talks to the Pharisees, condemning them for tithing to the penny but neglecting the moreimportant issues of justice, mercyand faith.

He then goes on to tell them that they should in fact tithe, but that they shouldn't neglect the more important things.

Jesus recognized the importance of keeping the tithe and we should, too.

There are many practices in the Old Testament that don't make sense to us today, yet many of these ancients ways carry over to the New Testament law of grace as part of Christ's promise to not abolish the law, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17).

For instance we no longer sacrifice animals but asbelievers we are called to offer ourselves up as a living sacrifice (Rom 12:1).

Men no longer are required to be circumcised, but we all have a circumcision of the heart through the Holy Spirit (Rom 2:29).

Most of us don't have grain and produce to bring to the storehouse, but we do have incomes that we can bring the first tenth of into the church.

In other words, just because something is written in the Old Testament doesn't mean it lacks application to us today in some way or another.

When I think of Christians asking themselves whether "tithing" is commanded in the Bible, is an OldTestament or New Testament teaching, I wonder how many of these Christians "send back" the many scriptural blessings God has given His people in the Old Testament.

How many people when they are blessed and given hope through the mention of God's works, words etc. through the Old Testament Scriptures say ‘I don't receive this or that blessing or confirmation because it's in the Old Testament'?"

While it is true that we are no longer under the old law, that we are under grace, we must not forget the purpose of grace: to help us live for God and do the things He wants us to do.

Romans 8:4 tells us that Jesus came that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, not so that we could altogether dismiss it.

And Romans 3:21-31 talks about how we have righteousness through faith and not through following the law, but verse 31 adds "Do we,then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law."

God's grace gives us the power and ability to tithe!

see am done with this topic, i believe, i have made my point, based on God's word

The blessings of tithing is what you see and experience, so am not talking abstracly

If you are truely born again and u continue to grow in Christ and YOU HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, you will have absolutely no problem with tithing

Christianity is not a religion but a way of life

I, as a person, am ready to give as much as i can to the gospel, not only in tithe alone, cos without the gospel i am a Nobody, the gospel gave me all i have and It is the most valuable thing in the world!!.

PS : am done typing and with this topic.

this isnt about winning an argument for me, but about enlightening you as Christian to Christian, on an important Christian issue.

It is a good thing you are not a Pastor because you will definitely go about propagating your personal ideas without recourse to the sound Apostolic doctrines. The scripture I asked for, you have not provided but have gone on a long epistle of what you think.
The main principle behind tithing and giving is the fact that what we do with our money shows where our heart is.
Nice idea, write a new Bible and incorporate it there.

Matthew 6:21 says "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
When we are able to give 10% or more of our income instead of keeping that money for ourselves, it shows that our heart isn't tied to our money and that welove God more than our money.
Matt 6:21 didn't say or imply that your treasure in Heaven is a 10% of your wages/salary submitted to a gentile Bishop, Pastor, Apostle or Prophet.
I personally don't believe that God will curse us if we don't tithe, but I do believe He will help us escape the curse that is already in the world if we do.
Old Testament vs. New Testament
You believed you get a blessing more than others because you 'tithe' and at the same time you don't believe that God will curse us if we don't do tithe. How confused can you be? The Malachi you misquote says both blessings and Curses in regards to tithe Laws. You should believe both, Please do because that's the way Laws operate.
My comparison is not just about new and old testament but about Laws. There are good stories in old testament, we can learn a thing or two from them but the 613 Laws itemized in Jewish customs, the curses as well as the blessings attached, do not define the practices of a Christian beginning from the Moment Jesus died, a new Law began. I will tell you categorically that the old Laws and the curses for nonconformity with them were abolished in Christianity (Study the Romans you quoted from, Galatians and Hebrews). Hebrews 7 tells you that the Levites were only permitted to take tithes according to the Law - Mosaic Law.
. In the first Century AD, most of the troubles Christians had with the Jews who schemed against them with the Romans emanated from Christian noncomformity with the Jewish Laws.
Tithe is a Law and an important Jewish Law. The correct principle or reason behind it was the care for the Levite Priests who had no inheritance. You may want to know that in some generations down the line some Levites who were not in the Aaronic order had inheritance and ran businesses. Example, Barnabas in Acts 4: 36.
You, Mr Ade have never kept that Jewish Law on tithing.
What you do in parading 10% of your salary or wages before your Gentile Pastor or 'Prophet' is not tithe.
Parading 100% of your January Salary before a Gentile Pastor is not First fruit. They are not in keeping with Jewish laws of tithing and first fruit. They are offerings as far as Christianity is concerned.

Tithes
Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.
Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always. But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away), then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.
At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns,
so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.[b]Deuteronomy 14:22-29 New International Version (NIV)

At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns,
so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

this is why I said you are a religious extremist.
You are mistaken my friend. Christianity is not a religion but a way of life. It’s your call to decide to be a Christian. God bless you.

To be sincere with you...am a Christian and I stopped paying tithe 5 years ago when I realise is not biblical...during this period I got married, gave birth to 2kids bought several landed properties, build a house, bought land for my wife, do foundation on it etc. to be sincere with you stop wasting your money, there are people that need this money on the street and around you.
This was beautiful to read!

What a lot of people(Christians) don't want to know is that paying tithes is not a requirement in this new dispensation!

The last part of your comment (the bolded) got to me.

And then, there is a difference between paying a tithe and giving (freely without compulsion).

Akeenbussy you are living dangerously better follow bjcuntis to Winners and submit your 10%.

Malachi 3:10 was addressed to Levites (descendants of Levi, a son of Jacob) referencing their Jewish laws. It baffles me how some Christians threaten people up and down with passages that do not even concern Christians to say the least, all in the bid to extort money.
Nobody can threaten me with Christianity...I was born into it, I grew up in it and am still in it...and with all sincerity of heart I have been to almost all the popular churches we have around...there was a time in my life I was a Muslim.

I just laughed at some people foolishness when it comes to religion. What amazes me is that these people are very intelligent outside religious.

The book of Malachi he quoted there shows me that he has not been reading his bible...Chapter one of the book showed that it was addressed to the people of Israel and not Christians...If he quote Malachi 3 to back up tithe, it shows Desperation and stealing by disguised. To understand Malachi very well, one must start reading from chapter one.

U see that's ur problem. U are too familiar with the bible. So u feel u know. Proverbs 26:12 says
Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them. U know nothing brother. It doesn't matter whether u were born into Christianity, I was born a Muslim but I understand that you cant use carnality to interpret things of the spirit. It's like trying to explain the internet to a dog. Things of the spirit looks foolish to the natural mind. If u are a Christian nd u dont understand that u are not a Christian at all but a church goer.

Because akeensbussy has refused to be swayed to your side of beliefs which you have failed to find a scriptural backing for ( e.g. a scripture where Jesus ordered for tithes from Christians and where Peter or Paul took tithes from Christians) he is
a fool who knows nothing
A carnal man
A dog
The natural mind
Not a Christian
A Church goer.
Do you know what, I think you should start pointing gun at the people to collect this your Precious tithe money because these threats aren't working not when more people now know there was no tithe law for Christians.

Look sweet cheeks. Only fools argue with facts nd truths when it's right in front of them. Honestly, I don't care what anyone does with their money.

This guy should stop deceiving himself......the bible in Malachi 3:10 said Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that
there shall not be room enough to receive it .........and its not force to sow a seed in the life a pastor.....its optional...if your faith can carry it fine

Please, pastors pay their tithes to who?

It is a good thing you are not a Pastor because you will definitely go about propagating your personal ideas without recourse to the sound Apostolic doctrines. The scripture I asked for, you have not provided but have gone on a long epistle of what you think.
Nice idea, write a new Bible and incorporate it there.

Matt 6:21 didn't say or imply that your treasure in Heaven is a 10% of your wages/salary submitted to a gentile Bishop, Pastor, Apostle or Prophet.

If i tell you that as i Christian you shouldnt steal Government funds, you will asks me to tell you to show you where exactly it is written in bible?

or if i say as a Christian you shouldnt smoke weed, you will ask me to show it to you right?

and so if a new kind of madness is introduced 2mrw u will go ahead and partake in it cos it is not written specifically in d bible?

does that make sense to you?

Everything you need both past, present and d future is in d Bible, the bible has covered everything and i told you based on d bible, that the bible is in surport of tithing, there are lots of bible refrences in support of tithing, and they are NONE against it.
