You don't confirm rumors. you leave it under wraps. that's the professional thing to do in football. He only stated that he is still committed to the U21 team. Or should he have announced that he was no longer interested in playing for the U21? no, you don't do that.. you keep on with your switch thing, and make it formal when it's final... so your analogy does not apply.

Modified
Even if he chooses England finally, it's a personal/professional decision. he spoke professional, we dey vex... what if he had said he don't feel Nigerian enough? hahaha

TheGoodJoe:

Man: Honey I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.
Hot Chickala: You have to wait, let me see if Tunde will propose to me first. For now I will be rolling with his younger brother until Tunde proposes. If Tunde does not propose then I will later marry you.

Tell me the man who proposed will not feel shame.

Which kind keep on with switch thing going? He just has to declare he has chosen Nigeria. Instead he is still waiting for Tunde's proposal. Sorry, the Queen's call-up.

But a good striker wud be in position.. He wasn't keeping up with the pace. He saw the pass, simon spend like 3sec before he square play, which wud ve been enough for him to be inline.

Zambia defenders were also comfortable building attack from defence, he didnt trouble them much. Unless we want to say they were too perfect.
That's the point. If he moves before the pass, he goes into an offside position, offsides are read at the moment the Passer touches the ball.

If you watch that particular play, you'd notice Ighalo sprinted after the pass. Now if you have played football you know how fast that round leather moves, especially when you apply a significant amount of force.

If he ran to the near post, simon will release the ball earlier and it could have been a tap -in. That was my first thought when i saw it.

He did not choose Nigeria. He should declare it just because Pinnick put it out there that the process is on? Even Pinnick never said he has chosen us. Then why should Tammy? It's not official until its final.

show me someone who has said here we should approach the boy again. of course I understand you are like a guy who feels rejected because at the time of your asking you did not get a straight up answer.. It's just like a suitor asking a girl to marry him without a ring. Follow due process.
Due process is to just shut up and act professionally, then the girl will respect you. When she even respects you still undeservedly, you claim she slapped you in the face.

So who's fault is it really?

My position has always been the form has been handed to the family. It's left for Tammy and his dad to proceed. Nothing is official.

Even at that, that would have been an issue of technique, not speed as some are trying to make it seem.

But Yea, that would have been a viable option.

I have been critical before about Ighalo's inability to press and mentioned that as an edge Iheanacho has over him.
But on that particular occasion, I didn't see any better option.
Well, except the one you just mentioned.

Nigeria 1-0 Zambia Aftermath: Super Eagle Speak

Troost-Ekong : Sunday Oliseh Told Me Oyibo Boys Are Too Soft

Published: October 09, 2017
Troost-Ekong : Sunday Oliseh Told Me Oyibo Boys Are Too SoftFormer Netherlands youth international William Troost-Ekong has hinted why he found game time hard to come by during Sunday Oliseh's spell as manager of the Super Eagles.

The Bursaspor central defender made only two appearances for the national team, against Tanzania and Democratic Republic of Congo, under the stewardship of Oliseh before he was frozen out of the squad.

''The Olympics was like a restart for my international career. I was part of the Super Eagles until Sunday Oliseh took me out because he said Oyibo boys are too soft,'' Troost-Ekong said to aclsports.com.

''I hope he’s watching his TV now and see us going to the World Cup.No ill feelings, I saw him at the Olympics last year and we spoke briefly.

''He didn’t believe in me then but I think Nigerians can see now what I can do.''

Nigeria have kept seven clean sheets in fifteen matches William Troost-Ekong featured for the national team, and he partnered German-born Leon Balogun in central defense in five of those games, against Chad, Mali, Tanzania, Cameroon and Zambia.

Iheanacho thrives off spaces, Ighalo draws defenders aside, creating spaces.

An ideal option would be to combine them but that would mean sacrificing an important offensive player.

A very difficult decision, I tell you.

The angle of the camera in that youtube video most of you are referring to makes it difficult to make a case either way. Most times I go by the replay during the match and it was done so perfectly that the commentators had to concede it was actually an offside after careful scrutiny.
Actually the Zambian was slightly ahead of Ekong. He would have gotten away with it with SOME good referees, and our offside cry would still have fallen on deaf ears. my verdict, a close call, but still an excellent one.

And yes our CB's reaction was influenced by the early whistle.

mank1234:
That your line doesn't consider perspective in drawing.
The farther you get, the line is supposed to be closer to the centre line.

Ekong kept him onside. If we having watched and focused our attention only on offside/onside at that line are still debating, then the linesman's error should be excused as he even had to focus on foul as well. Goal was however scored after whistle had been blown. Probably, Leon would've given him a proper chase to make him miss the goal had the whistle not gone. Hence, no case.

No Gareth Bale @wc, Messi, Dybala, di Maria??

Ighalo position was only good for a cutback which he could only expect if a teammate was ahead and in position.

He was the final man and there was space to the middle and far left, yet hesitated till the pass was placed. Ighalo was too slow to get in line.

If he picked a spot in the middle or far left, he wudnt have had much to do than buried the ball..

And yes, i played the round lether ball, tho as jeun-jeun

Ighalo was thinking like me. Slow down, else you get into an offside position.
But just like you and tbaba have pointed out, a run to the left would have solved this little dilemma.
Do I blame him? No, I don't.

It's not as easy as it sounds.

Because that is not a like for like sub, you'll not only be substituting the player simon, you'll also be discarding completely that right wing.

Yes we know Ighalo roams and sometimes find himself on the right wing but that is just as much as his wing appearances go. He won't drop back to assist the full backs, and he'll not be found deep to launch a sprinting counter attack.

This also puts alot of work on our midfielders as our attacks would have to come from the middle. It also makes it pretty predictable.

So you see, to play Ighalo and Iheanacho together, we need to make a whole lot of sacrifices. Question is, would it be worth it?

The Netherlands only have to beat Sweden 7-0, or 8-1 or by a seven goal margin in order to have any hope of advancing to the playoffs.
