I need your help.
I opened this account because you all know me so need to cover myself too. I am married and very soon my wife will put to bed. But my father is late an igbo man from Delta anyway. But since my father died my grandma gave me yoruba names because we are yorubas. I see it as a normal thing due to what my father went through in the hands of his families. But now am a man and a father soonest too. Now the thing is i dont want my late father's name to die just like that. Now what i plan doing is this: all my children will have my late father's name as their middle names all. Let me show you an example. Say i have 3 kids now named Seun, Mynd44 and miss89, i give them the names like these SEUN CHUKWUEBUKA Akeem and mynd44 CHUKWUEBUKA Akeem & miss89 CHUKWUEBUKA Akeem. Please is it ok or what do you all think? Please advise no insults.

Why not give your first son your father's name(as middle name) and name others differently from that.

It's unfair on your children to all have the same middle name, or a middle name not befitting e.g a girl bearing a boys name.
To solve this, just do a change of name officially, and start bearing your father's name as your surname.
Then your children can have your fathers name as their surname too.
Everyone will have the same surname.

Exactly ma thought cuz in Igbo land once the bride price of a lady is paid irrespective of her trib,her husband's surname becomes her surname and dat of her children

Just try not to do anything that will complicate your children's lives. Your father's name doesn't have to reflect. You might do that and your daughters get married and change their names or your son decides to do a change of name when he is older. What then?

Talk to an elder or someone in authority for advice

Do change of name, assuming you bears Yinka senu Kunle ( kunle as maternal surname). You can change to Yinka Nnamdi Chukwuma( Chukwuma being your father's name)

You give your children names like Emeka kola Chulwuma.

Op this shouldn't be an issue. you just have to change the surname you can give them another middle name for example Bright chinedu chukwuebuka-akeem.

your father name becomes their surname AnD their children(your grandchildren) will bear these names. instead of leaving it just as a middle name. just hyphenate both names. add an hyphen and everything is okay

Please don't have kids yet... You are not mentally, emotionally and intellectually stable to procreate.

First thing ..you don't mix up your origin...bearing a Yoruba name doesn't make you a Yoruba...hausa and Yoruba bear Arab names like Ibrahim , muhammed that didn't make them Arabs


Now to make it easier for you...you are from the area of your father...and you are an Igbo man. You can't and won't be a Yoruba man....now start speaking Igbo, identify with Igbo and above all try visit your family


This is one basic things I hate about inter tribal things.mmmit confuses the children
