I greatly salute the good works done by Sir Xfire, Madam Darellrivers and other notable people herein. You might not want to believe I just consumed the invaluable information on this thread from the beginning to the end. Yes, I read all the posts and visited cited links. You guys are unimaginably generous! Despite having a CV I considered very good, I have just learned more tips to improve it and am sure many would have benefited and will still benefit from the wealth of information archived here.

You might want to know me. I'm a fresh graduate of Economics awaiting NYSC and looking for an internship opportunity in a reputable firm. I'm young (Early 20s) and graduated with the best honours possible (Based on penultimate semester CGPA as final results is yet to be out). I'm proficient in major Microsoft office tools and I can use statistical packages (SPSS, Eviews and STATA) for analytics. I'll be glad if you could help review my CV Sir/Ma. In addition, I wouldn't mind a recommendation for an internship in a good firm. My email is adelekeabiola97@gmail.com

Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers.

My brother just go and get the job quickly with two hands. You may even use that to train your self in your BSc pursue and possibly still assist your parents in training your younger siblings in school.

BSc is definitely better than OND.

Get the job, save from it and grab the experience. Later on, you can get your BSc; possibly, by working and schooling concurrently (if you can cope with the conditions). However, you are 22, and the BSc programme of your choice will be in a public institution. By then, you'd be 27 with NYSC = 28. I've not mentioned ASUU oh.

At this stage, I get perplexed on what to proffer as an advice. I wish you the best sha.

Yes, but only when the funds are available.

It does not matter. Most engineers these days work in the bank/financial industry (which is where the jobs are). Grab the experience, Nigeria is not the place to become an engineer. Even engineers in Singapore, UK etc are not well paid, it is Nigeria?

Additionally, I will advise you change the discipline to a finance one 'cos you might not practice the engineering sef (probability of >50%) and it would cost you more than five years (excluding strike and NYSC). Whereas it would be shorter, faster and more enriching (since you practice it currently) doing a finance course.

Honestly, with the age discrimination in the country, I won't advise anyone above 20 to study an engineering course in a public institution. Leave passion, hunger does not know it.

A friend of mine who after graduation searched for a job. He traveled long distances for interviews even against people's advise but he didn't get the job.

He read various books but he told me about one that really stood out "...Job Hunt, A Survival for the Fittest".

According to him, the book helped him alot by helping him focus on his skills and increased his knowledge

I had to look for the book and I can attest that it helped me land my dream job.

I highly recommend that this book "...Job Hunt, A Survival for the Fittest" should have a space in your shelf.

Yes. Take your course handbook for the entire programme and do the permutations till you graduate.

But note, if it's a four-year program, you must make at least a CGPA of 5.0 in a session. No matter how hard it seems, if you don't make it, it becomes difficult.
