Hi guys,
I transitioned for 3 months and I did my big chop in march. my hair was so Short I didn't know what to do with it and ppl won't let me rest. they kept on asking why I cut my hair, it was annoying. it didn't help that for about 4 months my hair refused to grow it just kept breaking and my front hair was chopped. then a friend introduced me to hair wonder cream and oil. After using it for 2 months now my hair has grown much longer and my edges are full. I will drop a pic of my hair.
Asides that I use cantu leave-in conditioner and homemade coconut oil.
I'm a distributor for Hair wonder hair cream and oil. it is made from natural herbs and oils and it enhances hair growth.

For me cantu is the best, its expensive tho. I've been using mine since I started transistioning and it hasn't even gone half its been almost 8months, just learn how to manage it.
for moisturizing and detangling, I use my spray bottle that has 50% water, 20% leave-in and 30% oil ( hair wonder oil, coconut oil, castor oil and mostly olive oil since its d cheapest)
For deep conditioning I use leave-in, mayonnaise, avacado, honey and olive oil mixed together. check YouTube for more ideas

check my signature for natural ways to enhance hair growth
Thanks babes! I truly appreciate.

[quote author=Ginaz post=60079603]Lovelygurl you won't believe me on this. ...I tried everything, even wasted 7k to buy shampoo and conditional with moisturizing oil still my hair refused to get soften. cry embarassed

I said OK, let me try black soap but it was a disaster, my hair got dried no matter the leave in conditional I soaked my hair with. It was like my hair developed a potbelly to drained all moisture.

I tried kernel oil, someone advised (oh Lord, my hair went bankrupt and dried up, it was horrible)

The thing now is, conditioners and whatever the heck they are doesn't soften or moisture my hair...nothing does...or if it does eventually, it dries out quickly.

I almost wanted to put a damn relaxer on it.....chaiii.

Only thing that does soften it is thread( and I hate rubber thread eh) huh

Please o, advise on what to do now I'm loosing my wits. I have a really hard and strong hair.]

Perhaps you're using the wrong products for the wrong hair type. What's your hair type nd porosity?
Re: Embracing The Beauty Of Your Natural Hair by Pierced(f): 7:25pm On Sep 09, 2017
My own routine for taking care of my natural hair

when I take down my fixing or braids.......I usually fixed hair don't leave my hair for more than 6wks.

I shampoo d hair first..... then pre poo with coconut, and olive oil........I would use Castor and avocado and one of the essential oil if I av an opportunity.

then shampoo again, and condition(lately, I use quizzed out okro juice.....and its works)

during the process of conditioning....I finger detangle...... since my hair will b slippery.....then end it with shampooing.

my shampoo is a mixture of melted black soap, olive and coconut oil.

Those products which claim to make your hair curly can only capture the already existing curls and make them stick together. If you hair has little to no pattern then it's very likely they won't work. You can try doing twist outs though

Lovelygurl I yaf come again. I think I will put relaxer on my hair. I have tried everything, everything to make my hair soft, moisturized and manageable but to no avail.

I truly wanna make this work but it's giving me a run for my money. I just found out shea butter is too greasy and gives me itchy scalp. I recently started using it based on advise from someone.

Only thing that works is water, I realized when I spray water on my hair it gets soft but that is followed by intensed itching which I'm having now though my scalp is clean. I washed my hair last week, deep conditioned and did twists. My hair growth improved while it was on twists(something I've learnt)

It's all a fuss, hair is hair relaxed or not. I'm just tired jare, 10 months of being natural I don begin lose my wits.

This is pix of my relaxed hair, I rarely treat it sef, like the kind of treatment I'm giving my natural hair but it grows, looks healthy, and full. No problems or anything and it is 5months old here in the pix until I decided to cut it and go natural.

My natural hair is a pain in the ass.. *crying and blowing nose*

Lovelygurl you see my life outside? I'm going to relax my hair next week. *cry on top lovelygurl's head*

Give me motivation and hope biko...our neighbor that is giving me hope is getting her own relaxed. Chaii, na only me waka come? embarassed

Loool, girl you are too funny grin

Honestly, I have no idea. Your hair is confusing me too. There are so many things I don't know that only you do. I can only speculate about what's wrong.

I don't know if your hair is high or low in porosity. I don't know if the products are just sitting on your hair or if they get soaked in immediately but gets dry afterwards. I don't know if you are dealing the water in. I don't know if all you need is a protein treatment or not. There are so many things I don't know but I'd suggest you read the earlier posts again, starting from page 1-3, so you'll know your hair porosity and how to take care of it.

Your scalp is itchy because it's dry. Just massage it with olive/ coconut oil.

I can relate to this a bit.
Just chill, natural hair requires patience and endurance. Going natural doesn't mean it will be easier to maintain compared to relaxed hair.
Also, it takes determination, a whole lot of determination. Determination to stick to it till you achieve what you want and even beyond that.

When I decided to go natural,I thought just plating and threading is all it will take. Did that for some months but it was just pure pain in the ass. My hair was too thick, tangled, dull not shinning. I was always ashamed to exposed my hair. Then I started digging on the Internet on what to do. But I didn't dig too deep because Google directed me to this thread on Nairaland. A big thanks to the creator of this thread oh. It is helping me a lot.

The first thing I did is to determine the porosity of my hair, my hair have high porosity.
Then I studied how to wash and Co wash my hair type. Fortunately, they are all the products I have at home already.
Immediately I removed my twist,I applied coconut oil into my scalp. I put the oil in a spray bottle, so it made it easier to applied. Then I cover it with satin scarf overnight.
The next morning, I washed it with baby shampoo, I used baby shampoo because I have it at home oh and it actually contained sulfate but because I will only be washing with shampoo once a month,I ignored the sulphur warning grin
After rinsing the shampoo off, I applied Topklass hair conditional. Left it on for 10 mins and rinse it off too.
While my hair was still damp,I applied my Shea butter mixture (Shea Butter +coconut oil) generous on my hair. Ordinary shea butter do give me itchy scalp too, but when I mixed it with coconut oil, it doesn't itch me.
Then instantly, my *thick forest* hair became very soft like silk! I couldn't believe it shocked cheesy

So I made threading,I aways use baby wool for threading not rubber. Rubber is too painful for me jare. Then I noticed my hair grow quickly and longer with threading style. So whenever I twist my hair, I always apply my Shea Butter mixture every other day on my scalp in order to prevent dryness and pure coconut oil twice a week also on the scalp. This method took care of my itchy scalp.

Then I noticed that when I take out the twist,my hair will be very soft! Very easy to comb now. And I'm rocking different styles of knots, twist and threading now. In fact the last time I did Bantu twist and took it out,I style it the way I saw it styled on this thread, people thought I fixed all these coiling weavons!

All special thanks to the creator of this thread and everybody that have contributed on it. You guys are life safers wink

My recipe for shea butter mixture.
3 tablespoons of shea butter
5 tablespoons of coconut oil.
Mix together.
Thats all.

Oh thanks, I appreciate all you wrote a lot. Do you twist every time when you are not making a hair do? How long do you leave your twist? Days or weeks? What I've learnt is that my hair doesn't like products, they don't work and makes my hair dry afterwards. I hardly use leave in conditioner, it tends to make my scalp itchy and dry.

I'm assuming you have low porosity hair if products hardly absorb. That means your hair cutilcles are flat, which is why products can't sink. We have to raise the hair cutilcles by using indirect heat.

Don't stop deep conditioning every week except your hair is in a protective style. While leaving the deep conditioner in, wear an extra cap or even two to create heat. Heat raises the cutilcles and moisture sinks in.

Already told you the last time that leave in conditioners is NOT for the scalp. It's for your hair. It moisturises your hair but blocks the follicles on your scalp. This doesn't only prevent hair from growing but can also be itchy.

After deep conditioning and rinsing out, first apply oil on your scalp. That's the ONLY thing your scalp loves. Then leave in conditioner on your HAIR. You can seal with an oil afterwards.

Forgot shea butter or anything butter, I don't think it will absorb. You can mix them into your deep conditioner but not as a sealant. Go for oils like olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, grapeseed oil etc.

If the leave in conditioner sits on your hair. Get a spray bottle, spray your hair with water and then add a leave in again. It should absorb this time around.

My hair is also low in porosity. It doesn't even absorb product while my hair is damp. Only when it's soaking wet. Yours might be the same. If it sits on your hair while damp, then no need to use a towel. Just apply products on wet hair.

The thing about low porosity hair is it might be difficult for products to sink in BUT it is difficult for moisture to evaporate. Once it's in, its locked in. I only need to re-moisturise 3 days after washing it, which I do by spraying some water on my hair, a little bit of leave in and oil and were good

I had this same problem. I used anti dandruff shampoo repeatedly to wash my hair and it stopped. I used the one named heads and shoulders.

Apple Cider vinegar also helps. Dilute it in water and use a spray or applicator bottle to apply it on your scalp. Leave it for 30mins then wash your hair

There's this question I've been wanting to ask. You know immediately the hair gets in contact with water it shrinks. After shrinking does it pounce back to its normal length without applying any form of stretching?? huh

Do twists out stretch the hair? huh And how do I stretch it? I've come to start appreciating my hair, being natural has taught me a lot of stuff. Then I care less about my hair, didn't care about how they rough handled it either . Now I care about all details, you should give me a medal o. It's not easy but at least I'm trying. tongue

My hair doesn't like products much, so I've reduced it. All I apply is coconut oil, got it at a supermarket for 2,500. shocked...small bottle o.

Everyday I've come to love my hair, care for it. That aside, let's go back to the main story. Teach me everything about stretching. I tried looking for details on net but I was confused.

Waiting for your reply and anybody can contribute o. Make una no vex.

Twists stretch the hair. Personally, I braid (cornrows) my hair in two after i wash and when i loosen, there's no form of shrinkage

Awww, seems your hair is now cooperating grin

Regarding to the no product aspect. If a leave in doesn't sink in, you can try mixing it with water. It really works, already tried it.

And believe me a little oil always goes a looong way, so you really do not need much.

Now to stretching

There's the African threading method

You already do that. That's the hairstyle you did, the one with the wool (think the wool sucks the moisture though, so maybe try those black rubber thing).

Then the banding method

This is very easy. You need a looooot of small rubber bands. Part your hair into a small section and "wear"rubber bands , leaving little spaces in between (picture)

And cornrows like the lady above me already said
